What To Expect

Disembark your cruise ship and greet your guide at the shore of Cozumel’s shimmering Caribbean Sea. After an informative safety explanation, fit your mini-SUB gear and plunge into the iridescent waters of the ocean. A mini-SUB is a high-tech device that allows you to breathe normally underwater without the use of a mask or tube.

Follow your guide by driving your underwater scooter through the water, directing your gaze to magnificent marine life; observe parrotfish, manta rays, garden eels, and colorful corals as you glide through the sea. Marvel at the tropical tableau of fish before returning to the sandy shores to relax upon the blissful beach.

Conclude your submerged shore excursion with a refreshing juice or classic cocktail from a nearby restaurant (own expense) before making your own way back to your cruise ship port.

The staff was very concerned about our safety in strong currents. Each of us had our own diver. It was phenomenal traveling through the water on our own! I loved the experience of handling a large starfish, blowfish and hand feeding other fish.

My family and I booked this excursion for a cruise and the experience was amazing . We were nervous at first but the instructors ensured we were relaxed the entire time . While underwater the water only went up to our shoulders. We were able to interact with underwater sea life . We did not use the lockers they had and if I remember correctly they were available for rent for about 30 USD. Unfortunately my family of 5 was separated on doing the excursion for an hour as it says, (I think due to them only having three crew members at the time) so our time was split for 30 minutes each group 2 &3 . As one group waited for the other we just enjoyed the water near the shore and the cabanas nearby. We also wish they had towels to provide after the experience, but there were outdoor showers to rinse off and bathrooms to change or use the restating if needed .

This was sooooo much fun! We were a group of 6 so we had to break up into two groups only the first group got to go because of the currents (and we were not upset we appriciated their decision to put safety first) But our first group LOVED it...it was so very cool! Still not sure how those things work but we had a great time and got to hold some wildlife and see so many beautiful fish!

We were a group of 3. One of the ladies was very afraid and anxious. But... The guys were very patient and even held her hand until she was comfortable. We saw lots of fish, held starfish, sea urchin, puffer fish and beautiful conch. They even gave us a small amount of food so we could feed then see the colorful fish right in front of us! Other than the initial uncertainty, we had an amazing time. One that we've never had before. And highly recommend this lifetime opportunity and experience.

We had such a wonderful time. It was my family’s favorite excursion of our first ever cruise! With the mini subs we were able to have a scuba experience that was easy for all ages and we were able to see lots of fish. We also got to hold conches, blowfish, starfish, and a pregnant stingray.

Great fun, getting down to 15ft on this scooter. Very easy, and comfortable. Quick 10 min walk from the cruise port to get to the hotel where this happens. Need to get a locker for $5 and they allow you use of the pool, lounge chairs, when activity is done in the ocean. Only in the water for about 20 min's but it's worth it.

That was new and very excited experience!The diving staff was helpful but not so organized. the scooters are very old,slow and need big upgrades.And the worst part of everything are the very unprofessional pictures and video-just terrible.We paid 65$ for that and got absolutely bad and unprofessional video and photos.Very disappointed and I don’t recommend that company for anyone now.

It was a fun time, and everything went smoothly. Interacting with the live animals was very enjoyable for me and my girlfriend. The mini subs didn’t seem to have very much power. When we went out what direction with the current we moved along slowly, but then trying to come back mine would not go against the curve it just kind of stayed still and they had to put a diver behind me to push me along. Seems like the equipment needs a little updating and repair, but all of Cozumel looks kind a like that. Other than that it was a fun time

The excursion was nice. The divers were very personable as well The equipment seemed a bit old and run down but worked pretty much as intended. There was a good variety of fish and some old dock ruins that were interesting. The support divers were very attentive and gave great instructions. My wife has never scuba dived prior and is a bit clasterphobic (not sure if I spelt that correctly) but she had no problems in these little scooters. All in all a good experience

OK experience with the Mini-Sub

For the most part you are within a few feet from the dock and down maybe 15 feet underwater. Some fish are seen, but nothing to spectacular. The "scooters" move very slow and it was overall not very impressive. The guides want you to buy their underwater video so they pretty much persuade you from taking your own pictures even with a waterproofed camera. They tell you it is not safe to take your hands away from the handlebar, but one hand it all you need really to keep it going straight. The crew are efficient and friendly enough. We were in the water though maybe 20-25 minutes total It is a really safe ride however, just not very exciting. The Helmet Dive in Cozumel is far more fun.

Doing this was one of my bucket list items and I have to say I was not disappointed. I felt incredibly safe and taken care of. I had an amazing opportunity to interact with sea life and I got some great photos. I was able to purchase afterwards highly suggest to anybody who is considering this, they were wonderful.

The mini subs were great when they worked. Our group’s subs lost power frequently. There were staged “marine life experiences” that were cool, but the photographer did not get any pictures of those and insisted on charging the full amount for pictures. Wouldn’t do this one again.
