Traveller Tips

Also, bring cash because a lot of the attractions are too remote for credit cards and you’ll need to pay with cash.
The only jeep that was offered was manual transmission and Jonathon had to do the driving.
This tour is a great way to see a lot of the island and not be in a crowded bus on someone else’s schedule.

Great Time in Cozumel
Marvin_E, Mar 2023
My friend was not feeling well so we didn't snorkel but we did drive all around the island ate the most amazing food and drinks, I found an amazing deal on cowboy boots and leather goods and the tequila tasting was unbelievable! I am going back soon for a week on the island and plan on using your company to handle all my tours needs. And I would like to really thank Victor he was a very cool person to work with. Thanks again Marvin Lee Eddings CEO BDM Transport LLC

Cozumel with the Mexican Rock
Bryanna_G, Mar 2023
My daughter and I had the best time ever! Carlos, or “The Mexican Rock/El Rock Mexicano” as we liked to call him, was amazing! Traveling as a mother daughter duo is always a bit nerve wracking but Carlos immediately made us feel safe and welcomed to his beautiful island home. He showed us some great spots all around Cozumel and took us to the best secluded beaches including Miami Beach which had the best tasting mojito I’ve ever drank. He made our experience a memorable one and did not disappoint. The Jeep we had was in great condition, super cute and yellow. All in all we were so happy to have booked this excursion and couldn’t have had a better driver! Thank you Carlos!

Had a great time. Hero was good. Itinerary was awesome!! Squeezed a lot in on our tour. The island is beautiful!! Jerry ( our guide) was awesome!! We really enjoyed it!! Would definitely recommend it and will use them again!!
NOT WORTH THE MONEY!
Yolanda_C, Mar 2023
Most awful trip! They were an hour late picking us up. The “tour guide” asked US, where we wanted to go! Uh, we’ve never been so how would we know????? We had kids with us and kept wanting to us to go see restaurants where his friends worked at ( they were all drunk adults, loud loud hip hop music playing) and had an hour wait for lunch. We 2 kids this was not a place to be. Took us to a cave, which was full of bats and poop! I would not even let my dog get into that water! They never responded to have us customize a trip or spoke with us BEFORE we even got to our hotel to discuss, but boy they were quick to charge our Credit card! Very disappointed!
Private Cozumel Excursion with my twin nieces.
Ira_S, Mar 2023
I treated my twin nieces to a Carnival Cruise to Cozumel. The private Jeep Excursion I booked with VIATOR surpassed our expectations. The driver was kind and curteous. He was very helpful with photo opps. (see photo) After lunch and snorkeling, he let us hang at the beach to watch the sunset (see photo). I recomment this excursion when you visit Cozumel.
Best Day with Friends
James_H, Mar 2023
We had 4 couples and 2 Jeeps. The day was customized to our interest and we saw the whole island at our own pace. Best stop was the beachside bar.
Disappointed
Ann_H, Mar 2023
Our guide Victor was great- this review is not a reflection on him. We expected an open Jeep, it was closed. The snorkeling and lunch was terrible- very crowded and touristy. Lunch was a “tour” menu so we had to pay extra for sour cream with our fajitas even though it said it was included.. Seriously? That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. We didn’t let it ruin our day but would absolutely not recommend this tour.
Must do
Christopher_L, Feb 2023
What an absolute delightful tour we took!!! Besides being the most versatile tour (us choosing what to do), Miguel was fantastic!!! We instantly felt like family with him. If you’re lucky enough to meet him, and his lovely family, you’ll be more than satisfied with this tour. Book with confidence, it’s so well worth the price (which I thought was too good to be true).
Cenote jumping!
Renee_S, Jan 2023
Jumping into the Cenote was awesome! Then stopping for a Tequila tasting was excellent! Finished up the tour snorkeling and then lunch!
Not a Happy Camper
Teron_C, Jan 2023
Just the overall experience was not that great. Jeep kept breaking down while driving, no open top like the picture shows, no drinks, the lunch was for kids and not adults, also food had no season n it just didn’t taste good. The price is per person but should be different because only one person drives in a group of 4. My family was a group of 9 with 2 vehicles. I wouldn’t recommend this activity.
Jeep trip
Eva_R, Jan 2023
Jerry was amazing. He accommodated us by asking us for other interest due to the weather. What ever we asked for he was able to deliver. Even if it was a sugar free cappuccino. We live the life of a local that day tasting amazing tequila and eating authentic food. Thanks, Jerry, for guiding us through your country. Cheers!
Terrible and make sure you confirm all details before booking
ROBERT_L, Jan 2023
This is not what we expected, we were 4 couples that specifically asked and requested that each couple have their own Jeep. We ended up having to share and 2 couples per jeep. And there was no negotiation to be had. The beach portioned mentioned that there was food, pop and beer incl. We headed up paying for all the drinks. Suggestion - try other tour operator out of Cozumel.
The perfect day in Cozumel with Miguel
Barbara_B, Jan 2023
Miguel met us with a big smile and a fun jeep. We did not choose to see caves and Mayan ruins and tequila making but instead chose the many beautiful beaches and gorgeous views and superb snorkeling experiences. This is a return trip to Cozumel and the beauty of the “wild” Caribbean Sea on the east coast and the crystal clear snorkeling waters of Tortugas Beach Club won our hearts. Magnificent day and the lunch was terrific. Do not miss and say hi to Miguel and ask him about his twin girls !!
Undependable Tour Company
Stephen_H, Jan 2023
VIATOR should not use "Cozumel Tours Excursions" as a provider. I received a "Your tour operator sent you a message about your Viator booking" email from VIATOR before the day of our Jeep Tour. It included the meeting place and time. I replied that we would be at the pickup point by 10am, we were early, but no one showed up. I could not reach them because they never provided the tour guide contact info. CUDOs to Cozumel Cruise Excursions because I was able to contact them, and even though it was the wrong agency, they (Maya) contacted Cozumel Tours Excursions. We started our tour an hour late. The tour advertised "...drive your own jeep", we were four and the guide drove so we had to cram 3 people into the back seat. The tour guide (Carlos) was nice, but he wasted 45 minutes to drag us to a Tequila distillery for tasting (but really to hawk local tequila). We had to skip some options and hustle back to meet the ship departure time. Not what we have come to expect from VIATOR.
Overall bad experience, do not recommend the tour.
Rositza_R, Jan 2023
Phenomenal beaches and water. Friendly guide. But that is about it - everything else was very poor experience - from the expected per tour description and not delivered services to the vehicles being in bad shape. If anyone wants to tour the island - highly recommend getting a rental from Hertz or Avis and drive around.
Great experience to customize as you want
Anitha_M, Jan 2023
Driver was really helpful and had an amazing time. Took us to everywhere we were interested time permitting.
Great way to explore the island and our driver Herrado(Jerry) was awesome!
Kishore_V, Jan 2023
I would recommend this tour for anyone looking to explore the island for various aspects and not just for single activity such as snorkeling. Our driver Jerry/Herrado was awesome and did a great job driving to all important points of interests as well as explaining the Mayan history/culture along with Mexican culture. The reason I'm not giving this tour the 5-star rating is because the lunch/food was terrible and the owner of this tour company should explore other options for lunch and snorkeling. The food was lacking taste and cold and utterly disappointing. Food in taco truck tend to taste better than this lunch restaurant.
Would not recommend
Kimberly_H, Jan 2023
Cozumel itself was wonderful. However, I would not recommend this tour. First off, the driver did not show up at the planned departure time. We messaged the number with no response. We then called the number and spoke to someone who sounded confused that we had a tour booked. Mind you, we booked weeks in advance. When the driver arrived, we were in a vehicle with no AC and no music. It was fine that the jeep didn’t have these 2 things but it was not as advertised. They also did not have water and beer, as advertised. We told the driver exactly what we wanted to do. Visit the church, do one tequila tasting, snorkel, and visit the Miami bar. He continued to ask us what we wanted to do even tho those were the main and only things on our list. We did make it to a tequila tasting, which was wonderful. The tequila and drinks were fantastic! We then drove to a couple of spots to take pictures. Visited the Miami bar and then ended at the lunch spot. We told our tour guide that we wanted to snorkel after lunch and he acted irritated and surprised. It was the main thing that we wanted to do. We felt rushed and like the tour was not advertised correctly. It was also a shame that they lost our reservation and we had to wait for someone to come.
