Armando was a terrific guide. The trail is what you’d expect which a ranch style feel. It’s rougher in some parts, kicks up a lot of direct but a spot or two where it a bit more fun as it kicks up small amounts of mud. The jade caverns are what others have described, a little smelly and the water appears to be dirty even though it’s not. Once the guide showed us that the water was actually clean/clear about 4-5 of us got and it was refreshing but didn’t stay in there very long. There was a couple that did the cliff dive part and they had a good time. Majority of the fun is the XRAIL although the trail portion seemed shorter and quicker than we anticipated.

Cancelled excursion due to missing info

I purchased this excursion for myself and 3 of my family members to go from the cruise port in Cozumel. We go to the tour counter to check-in and the guy starts asking questions like have you had any surgeries, back issues or pregnant. I told him that I had hip surgery in August 2022 and he called his manager and I was told I would not be able to go on the excursion. I appreciate Viator for giving me a refund, however there needs to be more specific timelines given so that excursions are not purchased that cannot be taken due to timing of medical procedures.

Great people, great family experience. We showed up to check if this was where we needed to be in a couple of hours and they asked if we wanted to go now. The guides were friendly and helpful.
A ton of fun and adventure!

We had a great time with our guides for the trail adventure. They did a great job explaining the event and getting us through the trails. Thank you!
Don’t use this tour company

Made a reservation for an excursion. A few hours later I received an email stating that reservation could not be fulfilled and tour was cancelled. Yet, I was still charged the $310 for a tour I never took because no vehicles available. Now I have to request a refund when it should have been processed immediately when reservation was cancelled. Very shady business practices.
Great !!

This was so much fun. We got really dirty, but we had a great time. Louis was friendly and knowledgeable.
Book through the actual companies, not Viator.

The actual tour company was great, understanding, understanding, went out of their way to try to help us navigate the day. However, VIATOR is not worth the money. We have had so many issues with our tours this week and this tour is not what they put in the description at all! No off roading at all. So so so disappointed!
Meh

Dune Buggy’s Too slow, boring for pre-teen kids. Leary to go in Watering hole for swimming. Water not clear and bats hanging around.
Not long enough

The directions on how to get to the company from the ship Viator provided were vague and confusing. We had to stop twice to get directions once from inside the port and once outside which started the excursion off stressful. Next, when we booked the excursion with Viator they asked us for our dates of birth and weights which my party of 12 provided and we got confirmations for the excursion. Unfortunately when we got to the port we ran into and issue with one person in our party being able to go on the excursion because they said 70 was the maximum age even though he was younger then 70 and another person not in our group was over 70 and they said there was never questioned about being to old to go on the trip. The man at the desk was nice and trying to be helpful. This was all very unnecessary and I'm not sure if it was a screw up on Viators part or the excursions part but it added alot of unnecessary stress to an already stressful morning. Then we had a party of 12 the taxi was big enough for 12 but they split us 10 and 2 with 2 going into a seperate taxi with 4 others. It wasn't a big deal but it made the mother of the 2 girls that were placed in the other taxi uncomfortable. Once we got to the site we were met by Fransico and Victor who were the 2 best parts of the excursion. They were wonderful kind guides and are assets to that company. They told us right away that there had been no rain for a month so don't expect the experience on the safety video we were going to see. I kind of knew that going into it. I think it would have been alot more fun with the mud puddles but I know they can't control the weather and I wouldn't hold that against them. They have lockers available to rent for 5 dollars and go pro helmet for $8 and go pro and helmet for 29.99. Be careful if you use the go pro because the dust completely covered our lens so some of the footage is blank. Just keep on wiping it when you stop. They took a lot of pictures of our group which were pricey 59 dollars but looking back we should have all chipped in to buy them. The ride was maybe 30 minutes to the cenote. It was bumpy but trust me nothing that is going to break you. The seats really absorb the bump and you are traveling in a line on a trail so you can't go that fast. We were at the cenote for about 20 minutes or so. Only a small handful of us went in but I'm glad I did. Victor and Fransico were great about explaining the smell and the benefits of the cenote. It made me comfortable to jump in even though I was afraid of bats. They provided life preservers which was great. On the way back it was another 30 minutes or less on the trail. Its level driving with some turns and uneven terrain which added the bumps but no hills to make it more exciting. If you intend to drive you must have your license. Only 2 people can drive one going one going back. This disappointed some of our group that had 4 adult drivers in the car. On the way back there were ATVS heading down to the cavern which I thought was a little tight. I did ATVs in Curaco last year and I honestly enjoyed them alot more. I found them more exciting but thats just my opinion. The cars fit four and are automatic. After it was over they had a tequila tasting which alot of my group enjoyed. They put a tip jar out for well deserved tips. Again Fransico and Victor were wonderful. On the way back to port it was stressful because my party of 12 got into one taxi with plenty of space however we were told two had to get out and go in the other taxi which there was no need for. We almost got separated as one van went to the port and the other was going back to our drop off. Thank goodness one person in our party noticed this and our driver quickly made a u turn or else that would have been a disaster. Overall I'm glad we did this excursion it was way to short but it was something that looked fun and overall it was. Again the mud would have made it much more thrilling. Even with no mud it took us four washes of shampoo to get the caked on dust out of our hair. There is an outdoor shower but definitely bring something to change into. We wore closed toe shoes. The cenote was cool so give it a try. The bats freaked me out but they dont bother you. I really think they should add a beach stop or something extra to this excursion after it's over it's to quick and only about a 1.5 half at the actual site and less then a hour of actual drive time. They provide water bottles also. Our group ranged from ages 11 to 68 and none of us found it to be rough on our bodies or to cause any pain. It's something to try once but I don't think I would want to do it again.
Mostly worth the money
vincegpking, Feb 2020
After looking at multiple buggy excursions that were significantly cheaper, we opted to pay the substantial difference for this one. The buggys were in good condition and we had no mechanical problems. The seats were actually quite comfortable lol. When you get to the cenote there is a bathroom, but they charge you $1.00 to use it. It's only a dollar but gimme a break. Lol the path was very dry with very minimal mud spots which resulted in high levels of dust. It wouldve been cool if they had someone filling the holes with water during these times. The cheaper ones also offered lunch, which this one didnt. Honestly it was as much worth the price as it wasnt. I'm glad we had no issues, but we didnt get even a little muddy, they didnt offer lunch, and being charged to use a bathroom is just stupid, especially after charging 3x as much for less of an experience. I would do it again, only if I knew the trail was actually muddy.
