Covering nearly 20,000 square miles (32,180 square km) of rivers, wetlands and ancient sandstone mesas, the Northern Territory’s Kakadu National Park is the largest park in Australia. Your full-day wilderness adventure begins with early morning pickup at your Darwin hotel and an approximately 2-hour drive to the park.

When you arrive, visit the remarkable collection of ancient Aboriginal rock art in the desert at Nourlangie Rock. Take a journey thousands of years back in time as you see stories of daily life depicted through well-preserved cave paintings. Break for a picnic lunch surrounded by the park’s dramatic scenery.

In the afternoon, glide along the Yellow Water billabong on a river cruise. Learn about the natural history of the wetlands from your guide as you look for wild birdlife and crocodiles poking above the water’s calm surface.

Finally, delve deeper into the area’s indigenous history with a visit to the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre. At the end of your adventure, relax and soak up the scenery on the return drive to Darwin, where your tour concludes with hotel drop-off in the evening.

A must do!

Our tour guide and driver was a guy called Shane, he was really good and kept us informed and entertained as we went on our journey. The billabong trip down the river was fantastic, we saw many crocs, one of them eating a buffalo that it had killed the day before - real wildlife in front of our eyes! Our boat captain was an Aboriginal man who lived close by, he was superb, so informative and could spot the crocs from miles away! Seeing the 65,000 year old art was wonderful too, understanding the significance and the story behind each picture was great. On the long drive home, Shane put on a movie for us to watch on the bus, Australia, which was the perfect end to the day. It's a long day but I would highly recommend this trip!

Our pick up time was accurate, Phil our guide was very knowledgeable, friendly and easy to listen to. The only thing that I would like to add is that we were at the end of the line for lunch and there was not much salad left to choose from. 🤔

Poor planning by tour co led to us starting tour 1 hour late. We were constantly reminded we were running late so missed key sites. Very disappointing.

Best trip for awhile

The bus trip out to Kakadu was very relaxed and comfortable. Our bus driver Irish Mark kept us entertained and was very informative on the lay of the land out to our destination. We had a couple of pit stops and plenty of opportunities to buy local art and souvenirs, especially at the cultural centre at Warradjan. Next we were on our cruise. What an experience, something I won’t forget for awhile. Dennis with two N’s was the best guide you could get for the yellow river cruise on Kakadu. His local knowledge and personal experiences, witty remarks made for a very enjoyable, thought proving adventure of this picturesque land of ours. After our cruise was a lovely lunch. Our last stop was the beautiful rock art Nouralinga what an amazing place. The journey home was a quiet reflection on the days wonderful experience of Kakadu and it’s people.

Although a long trip after reaching Norlangie Rock and looking at the aboriginal artwork it was worthwhile. After driving along to have lunch which was quite enjoyable we went for river boat cruise on Yellow river and we saw a lot of interesting birdlife and some crocodiles as well.

Excellent from start to end of day. Coach drivers very informative. Our Guide Dennis (with 2 n’s) on the Yellow Waters Cruise, gave the most inspiring insight into crocodiles in their habitat. The pride he displays in his heritage was the best I have ever heard. Although a very long day - pick up 6.15am drop off home 8.00pm, the drivers/guides continually kept us entertained with information all the way. Thank you

Kakadu in wet season a must do
Nadene_M
, Dec. 2020
A very long day but worth the trip. The scenic flight is worth doing as you get to see how vast the area of kakadu is along with waterfalls inacessabile during the wet season in full flow. It's awesome. The boat ride is excellent, managed to see a couple of crocs which can be elusive in wet season. The area has already flooded and was a site to behold. Aboriginal rock art is also a treat with a little walk in the heat, flies were annoying.
icon Response from Host , Apr. 2021
Hello Nadene_M, Thanks for your review of our Kakadu tour, and it sounds like you had an amazing time especially seeing the many waterfalls in the area over the wet season. We hope to welcome you on board again soon. Thanks, The Team at AAT Kings

Spectacular day out...
Lesley_M

A wonderful day with Malcolm, the Driver/Guide. He displayed excellent local knowledge, was most courteous an exemplary host. His scheduling had us arrive in time for optimal advantage of Nature's spectacular display. We did join James on the optional Flight. Both James and Matthew showed skill and were most affable, as we're all ground crew associated with Top End Flights. A wonderful day with no stresses, just enjoyment 😊
