Overview

When your cruise ship docks in Amber Cove or Taino Bay, Puerto Plata, use the time ashore in the Dominican Republic to experience the rain forest and its diverse ecosystem. With all transportation provided from the port, visit Damajagua Waterfalls and take a hike into the forest, then jump and slide down the falls under the supervision of your guide. On the way back to port, dance, socialize, and sip rum punch on the party bus.

Please print/download meet instructions, map and information specific to your FUN Tour or REAL Adventure which will be sent to you by your shore excursion operator via the Viator system. Please check emails for updates and all instructions and map :-) PORTS: Amber Cove: Just Outside the Main Gate Taino Bay, Puerto Plata: Just Outside the Main Gate Important Note: there are two (2) ports in Puerto Plata - Taino Bay, Puerto Plata AND Amber Cove (less than 15-minutes apart by car. If your ship announces an "itinerary change" to either port - we will be there. We will provide you with the new map and meet instructions. There is no need to cancel your excursion!

Xander, was the best guide. He made me want to do the tour again! I would say if there was any history or fun facts about the waterfalls, they should share more of those details.

Definitely a bucket list must.

Our tour guide Tony was amazing. He taught us about the local culture, entertained us on the bus ride and provided a great and memorable experience. The option to jump off the waterfall or slide down was great. We had an amazing time. Strongly recommend.

After an awesome hike, it was great to slide down the rocks and jump into the refreshing water. Our guide, Coach Winston, was very knowledgeable, friendly, and added to our positive experience! Very fun excursion!

Memorable and fun adventure!

Such a memorable experience! The hike to the top took about 45 minutes but we stopped a lot so it wasn't too strenuous. The portion in the falls was so fun! We did the jumps which were nerve wrecking but super rewarding to conquer. They did have options to walk down or slide instead if you don't want to jump. When we first got there, it felt a little chaotic but the waterfall guides and staff were extremely organized. I was impressed that our tour operator guide, Winston, also came on the entire adventure with us and was the only outside tour guide that did that. He made sure everyone was accounted for and helped secure glasses and items so they didn't get wet. I was a little nervous bringing my phone even though I had a dry bag but it probably would have been ok. They did have an option to buy a USB with pictures for $45/family which wasn't too bad. The "happy juice" on the way back and freshly picked bananas were a great treat. We left around 8am and were back by 12:30 (ship onboard time 2:30 so had plenty of time!). Highly recommend and I'd gladly do the same tour again!

We had so much fun! The jumps are about 15 feet or so, not too scary but really fun! It is a hike to get there but they take plenty of breaks. Definitely recommend!

This was easily the highlight of our trip! I loved this excursion! The fun started the second we met our guides (Micael and someone else whom I forgot lol). We learned a lot of cool history about the country and culture on the way to the falls. The hike was beautiful but be aware that it is not for the unfit, unstable or fearful. It involves jumping from high areas. However, the natural waterfalls were breathtaking. Thank you for an unforgettable day!

Hello! Thank you for the time you took to review. I think perhaps you are reviewing another operator's experience (sometimes this will happen because of our name, "Puerto Plata Adventures"). On our route through the falls, the minimum jumps and slides is 7 and often we will repeat one of the jumps (the main fall/pool). It is not physically possible to hike past the jumps/slides as this is how we get back down :-) Hopefully you will return one day so you can experience our REAL Adventure!

It was a bit of a walk from the cruise ship to the meeting point, but well worth it. The "hike" up is not too bad and they take several breaks for you to catch your breath. The offer to have a photographer with you throughout the excursion is well worth the $45 dollars! We took home loads of photos and videos. And our photographer made the adventure even more fun. Winston was a great guide throughout the day...he gave us loads of information on the Dominican on the bus ride to the waterfalls. On the way home he served drinks, played music and even stopped at a roadside stand to get us all fresh bananas.

I kept reading that this was a highlight of so many’s vacation so we gave it a whirl! So glad we did. This was by far an amazing trip with Winston and Andriw. We were on a cruise, docked off of Puerto Plata. It’s about a mile walk from the boat to them so be sure to move quickly. We had some in our group rent water shoes for $2, I would recommend bringing your own. They are weak and fragile and left blisters. I brought my camera in a waterproof pouch and am so thankful!! If you don’t like to jump, stairs are easily accessible but there are 2 slides you have to go down, no other choice. Be sure to keep elbows in, my MIL got a nasty Dominican tattoo!! What a blast and memory forever. Thanks guys!

Puerto Plata adventures was great experience especially because of the great guide Sander who made the trip. Only wish the park service guides would have broken up the group into smaller groups. LOTS of people and waiting as a result. But the experience with PUerto Plata Adventures was great.

This excursion was so incredibly fun!!! We met our bus outside of the ship's port area (directions were very easy). The tour guides were easy to understand and extremely knowledgable. We got to the beginning point of the excursion, which was sort of like a pavilion at a "state park". There were bathrooms, a bar & restaurant and a desk where you could purchase pictures taken during your activity. We hiked up the mountain then either jumped or slid down into the waterfall waterway. (The hike was somewhat strenuous - I would not attempt it if I were completely out of shape or have zero activity in my life). The water was cold but you got used to it as the day went by. If I do this again, I would wear old tennis shoes. I had on "strappy" Teva sandals which bothered my foot due to the sand. The guides were PHENOMENAL!! They took such good care of everyone! Overall, it was totally worth it! It was a great day!!!!

We had a great time! Such a fun adventure. We felt very safe, had a blast. Booked this for a cruise port of call in Amber Cove. You’re provided excellent detailed directions for meet up. It is a bit of a walk from the cruise terminal but we didn’t mind. This is definitely not an excursion for anyone with mobility issues. Would 100% recommend booking this vs thru cruise line- the cruise excursions don’t allow you to do the jumps. Our tour guides Tony and Chandler were great, so much fun, friendly, and really make sure everyone is comfortable and safe.

We were pleasantly surprised to find that sliding on these rocks was actually quite smooth. As a senior citizen I was a little apprehensive but everything was perfectly safe. Tony took good care of us. Beautiful scenery and great thrills.
