The flowers and fauna were beautiful. The dead plants and trees from the volcano were replaced by another set of plants and trees. The cave has a massive drop in temperature. In the cave, There were evidence of people who stayed down there. The guide was very informative from start to end. As a solo traveler, it was nice meeting other people.

Loved the experience! Our daughter is 12 and she was so excited throughout the entire excursion. Our tour guide's name I think was Toshi, he did an amazing job. He even picked our family up from the hotel we were staying in and dropped us off at the Kawaguchiko station as we were off to our next destination. Highly recommend this excursion to anyone.

What an amazing adventure! We learned so much about the plants and history of the young post-eruption forest and ventured into the dark and icy caves, well equipped with protective gear (even for our 9 and 10 year old kids) and headlamps provided by our knowledgeable, entertaining, and highly personable tour guide!

Our tour guide was very helpful. He did a hotel pickup and even took us back to get our bags so we could make our train. The tour starts off with putting on coveralls, receiving a helmet and gloves, then a 10 minute drive to the Aokigahara forest. There is a trail that we casually walked while learning about the area and it’s history. Once we reach the cave entrance, a ladder takes you in and from there we explored the cave for about 45 minutes. Global warming has done a number on the amount of ice that remains, and seasonally there is not much ice if you visit like we did in May. However it’s still a nice tour that brings you into nature away from the hustle and bustle of The Tokyo area.

Aokigahara & Wind Cave — Stunning Must-Do around Mt. Fuji

Aokigahara is a stunning-looking forest, especially with many of the roots & rocks covered with green moss, making the forest look more mystical yet invigorating. The descent and walk within the cave turned out to be more challenging than expected. As such, those who are attempting this, please ensure you are not afraid of height or darkness, and wear anti-slip shoes if possible due to the slippery icy surfaces. Lastly, the best part is the guide, Tada-san, who is cool, funny and gentlemanly. We definitely had a lot of fun having him as our guide!

Amazing time exploring the ice caves surrounding Mount Fuji

This has to be one of the highlights of my trip. The tour started with a nice stroll through the Aokigahara forest where we were given a lot of history by our very knowledgeable guide Tada. Tada spoke English very well and was able to answer any questions we had about the caves, mount Fuji, and the local culture. We were then taken down into the ice cave area and gently guided through without any slips or injuries. While you do walk on ice, as long as you are able to climb down a ladder without difficulty, you will be able to do this tour. I can't recommend this tour enough. We went in Early April and with the jumpsuits and gloves provided we were very warm the whole time.

This was the best ice cave/wind cave experience in the Mt.Fuji area in my opinion! Aokigahara is beautiful, and our tour guide Tada was absolutely amazing!
