Kiri was a terrific tour guide and went above and beyond to make us all comfortable and to be sure we were enjoying ourselves. He shared so much information about Tokyo, the culture, shopping and the best part, of course, was the food! He was so knowledgeable and took us to such fun places. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone looking to get the flavor of Tokyo! Thank you Kiri!

Great night out
Grahame_P, Feb 2023
The restaurant and wine bar where terrific. Very good food experience and great atmosphere. The guide did a really good job and provided some interesting insights into Japanese culture
Guide was excellent. Food quantity was not as much as expected.
Nicole_P, Feb 2023
The tour guide was very nice, accommodating, and friendly. He was very responsive on WhatsApp and gave instructions. My issue was the quantity of food that we got. There were three restaurants that we ate at (first was for Japanese pancakes, second wad skewers & third was dessert). Giving a three stars though as I expected more food than what we ate. I did appreciate being brought to different parts of the city, places that I hadn’t ventured in before. For a food tour though, I expected to eat way more and for the price, it might have been better to do my own DIY restaurant hopping.
Response from Host, Feb 2023
Hi Nicole, thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review. We are so pleased to hear that your guide was friendly, accommodating and responsive but we are sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the amount of food. The description of the tour matches with what you have described, three assorted yakitori, monja-yaki & wagashi so there are three items included. We are always open to feedback and we will ensure that our product team will be made aware of your comments to be considered for future updates and changes to the tour, so thanks again for taking the time to provide your thoughts!

Our guide Ichi was very friendly and made the night fun. Plenty of food. All our group really enjoyed the tour.
Nice Tour, thanks Kiri!

We went on this tour to experience some restaurants we would not have ventured into on our own like the self cook Teppanyaki, it was great fun and food was delicious. Our host Kiri spoke good English and was very accommodating.
Great tour - a must do!
Helen_K, Feb 2020
This was a great tour - Kenji our guide was lovely and very personable. The places we went to we would never have found by ourselves and we got to taste food that was really good and traditional - both the yakatori and savoury Japanese pancake were fantastic. This was by far the best tour we had while in Tokyo - could not recommend it enough. A lot of other tours are way too touristy and you don’t experience out of the ordinary things - also great to spend time with the lovely locals - this Kenji!
Not as exciting as I would have hoped for

Would have preferred more of an underground tour. This was pretty dull. We just went to two restaurants which had been booked for a group.
Excellent

The food tour was a fabulous experience. I loved being lead to local, out of the way restaurants. We toasted with and talked to the locals which was such an uplifting experience. Our female guide was so helpful even regarding how to get back to the hotel. The food was delicious
Great night exploring off the path places

Our guide, Tomomi, provided our group of 9 with a great experience visiting restaurants that didn't have many tourists in them which was great. She made sure we all were taken care and understood the food and beverages. Definitely would recommend this to a friend.
Great evening, great food and new friends!

Snoopy was a great guide. The group sampled food we've never eaten but enjoyed. We visited restaurants that were off the beaten path where the locals eat. I would tour with him again.
Wonderful Experience
wilbyonclyde, Oct 2019
This trip was wonderful. Our guide spoke good English and had a lovely personality. There were eight on our tour. Our guide took us to several different places to eat and we had some interesting local dishes that we would never have had the opportunity to experience if not for this tour. We had plenty to eat and we thoroughly recommend this tour.
great tour with a great guide

some wonderful food experiences with a great guide that helped us understand not just the food, but also the history of the places that we visited and also the traditions surrounding the Japanese culture
A great food tour!

Fantastic Tour!

Kiri was a friendly and knowledgeable guide and the food was great. Especially nice since I was travelling on my own and it was nice to chat with everyone.
Waste of money and time
Svetlana_N, Oct 2019
I cannot call a tour a food tour because we spent most of the time walking leisurely at the streets and getting to places. Food was 6 very salty chicken little sticks divided between 2 people, so you are lucky to try one tiny peace, and cabbage pancakes that they cook in front of you. I am not a big fan of cabbage and was expecting much of different type of dishes rather than sitting in a small smoky cheap joint for 2 hr. Overalll, it was a ripoff. With abundance of restaurants on every corner, you can easily try different dishes yourself and for the price of tour-at least 5 whole meals. Waste of money, waste of time.
Amazing Experience!

We loved our Tokyo by Night Tour! The food was amazing and we went to very authentic Japanese places which we would not have gone to by ourselves! I also thought we would hungry by the end of it but we had more than enough food! Our guide was also excellent and very funny and kind. Would definitely recommend this tour.
A great first night in Tokyo.

Kirihara was amazing. He was very engaging, had a great sense of humor, and made the entire experience fun. Despite my poor sense of directions, I was able to find the group at the designated meeting point in the Ginza district . It was a party of 12, and I enjoyed my conversations with everyone I spoke to. From the meeting point, Kirihara took us to a restaurant where we were provided drinks and snacks. I was the only vegetarian, which I did specify when I booked the trip, and that entire evening, Kirihara ensured that I got vegetarian options. After that, he took us to a bakery, and we each received a mochi dessert. (I ate it a few days later, and it was still delicious.) We then went to another restaurant, where we had two different entrees. One drink was included with the meal, but everyone had the option of ordering more drinks at his or her own cost. The establishment was the kind where there was a hot griddle at each table, and Kirihara actually prepared the Japanese pancakes and "pizzas" for us. He has mad skills. At the end of the tour, he ensured that we knew our way back to our hotels via subway, and then emailed us an extensive list of descriptions and links of his recommendations on what to see and eat in Tokyo. I give Kirihara and the night tour an A+++.
Excellent food and guide
John Z, July 2019
The food and guide on this tour were excellent. The only reason I didn't give it a fifth star is that I found the walking and train ride parts a little disjointed. I think that part could have been better coordinated. But if you want great food and a Monjya St restaurant experience, this is it.
