What To Expect

Your expert guide and friendly driver will collect you from your Guatemala City hotel and transport you in air-conditioned comfort to Cerro de la Cruz. You’ll marvel at the cityscape laid out before you as you look out from the tallest hilltop. Take in the beauty of terracotta rooftops and cobblestoned streets that give this historic town its colonial vibe.

From there, make your way to the city’s central plaza and pay a visit to the iconic San Francisco Church, where the shrine of Peter of St. Joseph Betancur is located. Your guide will point out the arch of Santa Catalina as you wander the streets and share the story of how nuns once used an underground passage to cross the street.

You’ll make your way to the beautiful Baroque-style La Merced Church, which was once the wealthiest in the city. Follow your guide to the Jade Museum, where you’ll watch local craftsmen carving these green stones into beautiful jewelry.

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant (at your own expense) before heading to the nearby coffee plantation, where you’ll learn about coffee production and harvesting before sampling the locally grown beans and making your way back to your Guatemala City hotel.

Day in Antigua
akers4fun, Jan 2023
Our guide Belasario was so very kind, full of lots of great insights & information, & very patient with us & the frustrating traffic we had to conquer near Guatemala City. It was a beautiful way to spend the day & Antigua is a magical place.
Fun and Educational

Our Guide Oscar from Guatemala Adventures made the tour fun and educational, great detailed explanations in perfect English. It’s always appreciated when you finish a tour more knowledgeable than when you started.
Highly recommend this tour!

This is a awesome day trip from Guatemala City! Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and took time to cover the history behind Antigua in detail. Our group of 6 also enjoyed a great lunch in an old mansion type of hotel, one of the few highlights of the trip! Highly recommend this tour!
Book with Carmen!

We had a nice day in Antigua. The guide, Carmen, was punctual with pick up at our hotel. She is very nice, respectful, friendly and knowledgeable. We had a great time walking, exploring and learning from the culture. Thanks to Carmen we will have more memories from Guatemala.

This was our best tour in Guatemala! Josue was our guide and works for Guatemala adventure. He was so informative, knowledgeable and basically the best guide! I love when I book tours where I feel I got my money’s worth. And this is it!!

We had a lovely day in Antigua. However, we had requested an English speaking guide, and our guide's English was so heavily accented that we had great difficulty understanding him.

We got lucky, we were the only two on the tour for the day. Our guide was very good at following the pace we set, had perfect english plus 3 other languages, and let us detour as we desired. Push for more local and authentic and you’ll get it. The van was nearly brand new and very comfortable.

An easy drive from Guatemala City...
Navnit B, Nov 2014
An easy drive from Guatemala City. Interesting historic town but watch out for the very uneven cobble-stone streets and pavements. Be prepared for a lot of walking. The views from Cerro de la Cruz are lovely. The coffee museum is interesting. In their gift shop they sell a coffee liquore - it is really good. A lot of choice in handicrafts. Of course do bargain. Our guide, Armando, knows the town and its history very well and kept us engaged and interested throughout. Overall a nice trip but the walking over the cobbled stones really tired us out. The tour part as organized by Viator was good.
