I absolutely and *enthusiastically* recommend this company, and especially recommend Pamella as a guide! I booked this tour very last minute; it was my last day in Guatemala and my hotel was not able to provide a late check-out despite my 11pm flight. I also still needed to book a transfer to GUA from Antigua, and this tour was the answer to all issues. All communication was prompt, clear, and organized. Pamella picked me up from my Antigua hotel at 2pm, we had an excellent tour, and then she dropped me off at the airport at 6-ish (btw the GUA priority pass lounge is great).
Importantly, even though I had already been in Guatemala for 7 days, I learned the most about Guatemala (past and present) on this last day. Pamella is extremely personable, loves her job, and is also very passionate about this nation and its people. Our conversation was informative but touching, and I left feeling so much hope and love for the country I just visited (which is not what I was expecting at all).
Pamella's English is also fantastic; I was able to pick her brain and satiate all my curiosity (unfortunately, this was a bit lacking with other tour guides). I asked Pamella about *everything*, from about public transportation issues to zone differences to international relations to what's the deal with McDonalds (ha!)... everything!! Pamella is obviously very bright and knowledgable, but I knew she was the real deal/not just making things up when she simply answered one of my questions with "I don't know what kind of animal that is" (and um, i apologize for being such an annoying client! :)). Likewise, Pamella also spoke highly of her work and her company, which to me, as a fellow working woman, is always a great sign.
My one reservation with booking this tour was Guatemala City's reputation for being unsafe. However, we only toured areas where tourist police were visible (which Pamella pointed out) as well as other tourists (who pointed themselves out, jkjk). Overall I felt safe, but like in all cities, be mindful of your surroundings. Ultimately I am so glad I actually got to see what Guatemala City is like, and to understand that it is also beautiful. Indeed, there is a world outside of Antigua and Lake Atitlan. (And again, I needed to get to the airport anyhow!)
Knowledge-wise, this was the best, most informative tour that I had in Guatemala. And I would go further to say that visiting Guatemala City for just a few hours is necessary for any tourist who's genuinely interested in learning about Guatemala's local culture. Thank you so much Pamella, and thank you to Pamella's company for arranging this tour on such short notice. You all took my last day stress away, while giving me so much more. :)
