Very interesting city and made seeing all the sights very easy and convenient with your own driver who tells you the history as you go. The lunch as very good and filling at a local restaurant. Even gave me a lift to Busan at the end to save me getting the train.

Misleading and overpriced tour

Although the tour operator did me a favor running the tour just for me at a total cost of $340, even at the $190 listed price, this tour is way overpriced and the tour descriptions are very misleading. The tour guide was a very nice guy and lunch was fine, but essentially this is a half day tour of about 5 hours in Gyeongju sold as a full day tour I gather to account for rush hour traffic from Busan. There is no movie introducing you to the history of the city and the Silla dynasty. The village is a joke (one shuttered structure). Same for the observatory essentially a big chimney with nothing to see. The palace and pond is essentially 3 small gazebos in which you have to imagine a palace. The only noteworthy attractions are the temple, the grotto (where you cannot take photos) and the one open tomb at what they call the complex. They should have added the national museum where you can get explanations on the dynasty and see actual treasures like the originals of what they found at the tomb. If you are staying in Gyeongju, this tour makes no sense as most attractions are within walking distance and you can negotiate a taxi for the temple and grotto that are close to each other. If in Busan, they should lower the price as the temple and grotto are now free and the quality of attractions is poor and add the national museum, which is also free, to give you more value.

Hello. It is clearly listed as tour will start from Busan and end in Busan. Since you were already there, tour duration was shorter. also it was a private tour for 1 person only. We are sorry that our national treasures did not impress you.

Chris was a great guide, very friendly. We got around to most of the sites but had to skip Cheomseongdae cuz it was SUPER crowded they day I went (on a long holiday weekend). Overall 10/10. The price is worth not having to navigate transportation yourself, as they do have a van that picks you up and drives around.

Our tour guide Steve was wonderful! There was some issue without pick up address that the company sent over to him, but he came to collect us within 5 minutes. A small group size which is lovely (there were 5 of us in total). We also stopped for lunch at a local restaurant, which seemed very popular with the locals! It was delicious. Steve taught us loads about the places we were visiting and would highly recommend.

Steve was a great guide, very knowledgable, and knew which places had a lot of history and which ones just looked cool but is mostly for commerce. We had a small group so we were able to enjoy a nicer car on the long drive thanks to the company. The city itself is also really beautiful - all the buildings have traditional architecture so you feel like you’re traveling back in time even when going between sights. I never knew the Silla capital was so huge!

Left Busan at 7 am, when it is still cool and not crowded. Took 1 and a half hour to reach. We saw the temples first, then lunch then city tour of Shilla capital and tomb and lastly, small traditional village. Finished by 3pm. Compact, but not rushed. Beth was an excellent guide, chirpy, funny, and so energetic! Highly recommended.
