If no pick up required please meet at the vessel, Berth 7, Great Sandy Strait Marina, Urangan, 15 mins before departure time. Plenty of free parking. If directions required please phone our office.

What To Expect

After morning pickup at your hotel in Hervey Bay, meet your boat at Great Sandy Straits Marina.

Nibble a light morning tea served on board as your captain steers the boat into the waters of Great Sandy Strait, which are home to two species of dolphins — bottlenose dolphins and Australian humpback dolphins — along with dugongs and sea turtles. Your guide shares commentary about the marine life of the region and other fascinating facts as you look for wildlife.

Have the opportunity to swim off the west coast of Fraser Island at the pristine Pelican Banks, or at the beaches of Fraser Island itself. If you're feeling adventurous, you can ride in the boom net on the boat.

If conditions allow, your captain may raise the sails on the 38-foot (11.5-meter) boat so that you can experience the vessel under sail power. The boat is a smaller sized vessel, making for a more intimate experience. Wi-Fi is available on-board.

At the end of four hours, your tour ends with return to your starting point in Hervey Bay.

Please note that dolphins are spotted on 95% of the tours, however they are wild animals and sightings are unpredictable.

Great trip. Cloudy, choppy day but Captain Pete navigated to smooth water as we motored out to Fraser Island where we had a swim and walk on the beach. Saw both Australian Humpback and Bottle Nose Dolphins. Beautiful sail back with prevailing winds. Safety briefings were spot on. Morning tea was delicious!

The crew were great but we didn't see very many dolphins. The crew tried very hard to find them but there just weren't many around.

Hi Lenie, not sure what to make of your rating/review. Yes we had to cancel the tour due to a strong wind warning, but the weather was fine for the next day which suited you. You then cancelled the evening before stating the your son needed to go back to work. In the text message we did state that you would need to let Viator know of your reason to request a refund. Have they not responded to this request? Thanks Peter

The whole experience was fantastic. Captain Pete very informative, and a very nice bloke. We loved that it was a small group (9 out of 24). Highly recommended. Would love to do it with Blue Dolphin for a whale tour as well.
