Operating Schedule: Buses depart daily from the Tasmanian Travel & Information Centre on the corner of Elizabeth and Davey Streets in Hobart. Picked up & took me to Kunanyi/Mt Wellington. Driver commentary was good. Weather was good at top of mountain lookout. Great views of Hobart but very windy.

Kunanyi great on a clear day

We were lucky to have a clear day for the Kunanyi/Mt Wellington trip and therefore the views were beautiful on the day. Our guide Greg was well organised and knowledgeable. The hop on/hop off tour was a good way to orient yourself with Hobart. I think the service would benefit from extended hours, as operating on winter hours it runs between 10:00 and 15:00 and summer only an extra hour. This limits your ability to get as much use out of the service as you would like, so you really have to make a wise choice about where you want to get off. We didn’t get off, just did the 90 minute loop to get the lay of the land.

Great view at the top!

I got off at Fern Tree and hiked up the mountain. My only complaint is I wish they would give you a heads up about trail closures before you get off the bus. The bus ride was great and the driver was very knowledgeable about the area.

A good way to get to know Hobart

Bus driver was friendly and a safe driver. Hop on Hop Off could run for longer. Last bus finishes too early, considering there is daylight saving in place and the sun doesn't set till after 9pm. Mt Wellington tour is good, but if its a rainy cloudy day probably not worth bothering. Very expensive way to see Mt Wellington.
