Great private tour in Honolulu

Two couples took a tour off a cruise ship to see the Arizona Memorial and the battleship Missouri. Our guide was great. He gave us a driving tour around the area and set us up to see the Arizona. Afterward we did lunch by the Missouri and then toured the ship before heading back to our cruise ship. Only downside was wishing we had more time to wander the battleship. Highly recommend this tour!

Not worth the money

This experience is not worth the money. The guide, Rich, was polite and friendly however he pretty well left us to guide ourselves. We got to the primary Pearl Harbor area and he pointed out where some of the displays were, handed us our boat tickets for the Arizona, and said that he would be back to pick us up at noon. (This was at about 10am) He also explained that if we wanted information about any of the events or displays, we could ask a park ranger. Then, when we were picked up by him at noon, he drove us to the Missouri and left us with a guide from the Missouri to do the actual tour. 45 minutes later, he regrouped with us and walked us through the lower deck of the boat. I could have received the same level of service by purchasing our own tickets and paid extra for a “private tour”. Don’t waste your money on a private tour because you’ll have to explore on your own anyway.

Aloha Brett We have taken hundreds of groups on this tour to the USS Arizona and the USS Missouri and have developed a very good product over the many years we have been offering this tour. This tour has been developed to provide our guests an optimal experience of the USS Arizona, Visitor’s Center, and USS Missouri, and to do this it is important that guests adhere to the timeline we provide for their tours. You were advised the evening before by text that your pickup time was 8:45am and that being on time was very important. Unfortunately, you didn’t adhere to the timeline and as a result we had to adjust our tour to accommodate your tardiness which undoubtedly had an impact on your experience. You arrived at 9:35am - almost an hour late. Had you been on time, we would have conducted the tour by first going to Punchbowl Cemetery and the City Highlights, where along the way Rich would have been providing expert guidance on the history and culture of Pearl Harbor and the Hawaiian Islands, plus listening to a 34-minute lecture done by a historian about the Pearl Harbor attack. However, because you were late, we had to rearrange the tour so you could get onto the USS Arizona with your timed tickets. Rich took you inside the Visitor’s Center and provided his expertise on how to navigate the park to optimize your time there. Commercial tour operators are not permitted to walk around the park with their guests which is why he directed you to speak with the Park’s Department rangers if you had questions. After leaving the Visitor’s Center, Rich brought you directly to the USS Missouri, offering private transportation to Ford Island, where the entrance to the USS Missouri is located, and gave you a presentation explaining the historical significance of the battleship and the end of WWII, also history about The Oklahoma Memorial. He recommended that you take the docent tour as a complement to his presentation, after which he arranged to meet you to continue the tour. After your visit to the USS Missouri, he was going to take you to the remainder of the tour to drive through Punchbowl Cemetery and to Iolani Palace and the King Kamehameha Statue; even though this was supposed to be done first thing in the morning, our company was willing to extend the length of the tour, an extra cost for us, to provide you with a full experience, but you declined to continue the tour. As you can see, in order for us to fulfill our mission of providing optimal and outstanding experiences to our customers, we only ask, from you to follow our guidance and timelines, something that you failed to do. We hope in the future, we can provide to you and beautiful family an experience that will bring you excellent memories. We also understand that accommodations may needed when traveling with children. Private Tour NOT really Private

I cannot recommend this tour. It was advertised as a private tour and the company basically provided an Uber service. They guide was an hour late. The guide had atleast one other client at the same time and ran the car between clients. We were left stranded at the USS Missouri for 45 minutes. In addition, the guide was not very knowledgeable about the island or the visits. A total waste of money paid for a private tour.

Aloha Mark, Customer satisfaction is very important to us, so we would like to clarify some points. The tour you booked AND received is a PRIVATE tour. There is a difference between a PRIVATE tour where you are the only group on the tour and a Limo Service tour or custom tour that you pay for by per hour and have a chauffeur at your beck and call to do as you desire on your timeframe. We create our tours, content and timeframe, based on our extensive experience, which means that we have allotted a specific amount of time for each part of the tour so guests can see as much as possible. Our USS Missouri and USS Arizona tour is a 6-7 hour tour. For example, we allocate two hours for our guests to visit the USS Missouri, and often our guests leave wishing they had more time! You decided that you were done at the Missouri in less than half the amount of time. Your PRIVATE tour was based on a set combination of place and time. Noelani is one of our senior professional tour guides from Hawaii who is well versed in the history and culture of the islands and as a result she has outstanding reviews. Noelani called you before your pickup time in the morning advising you that she was going to be late because there was a problem; at that moment you had a choice to cancel and get a full refund or re-schedule your tour and you chose to go on the tour. On the tour, you listened to an excellent lecture given by a historian on why the Japanese attack Pearl Harbor, your guide gave you a presentation about the visitor center, some of the history and our expertise on how to navigate the visitor center to achieve the best experience while maximizing your time at the Visitor’s Center, you watched the 23 minute video and then you received your tickets to the navy shuttle to take you to the USS Arizona Memorial. Then your tour guide drove you onto Ford Island to visit the USS Missouri. According to our GPS, Noelani arrived with you at the USS Missouri at 12:55pm, gave you an historical presentation at the USS Missouri and then gave you the standard time we give to all our guests to complete your visit. Thirty minutes into your time at the USS Missouri, at 1:29pm you made a request to Viator for a refund claiming that the tour guide never showed up for the tour. When Noelani met you after the allotted time at the USS Missouri, she was totally blindsided when you refused to visit the remaining last two stops on the tour. Your tour was to continue to Punchbowl Cemetery – the Arlington of the Pacific where more than 33,000 soldiers lie in rest inside this ancient volcano, and the historical sites in Honolulu, Iolani Palace, Queen Lili’uokalani’s former home and to the statue of King Kamehameha. Both stops on the tour would have provided you with an abundance of Hawaiian historical and cultural information. This second half of the tour was cut short by you by your own choice when you were claiming that you were tired to continue. It was very difficult to help you; as much as we have the best desire to give full satisfaction and great experience, it is not possible without having an honest and direct complaint from you. Throughout the tour, your guide thought everything was fine because you never gave her any indication either by your actions or your words that you were dissatisfied with the tour. Had you brought it to our attention at that time, we could have had an opportunity to rectify any situation. Instead, you ask her if she had Venmo, implying you were going to send her a tip. Even after you accepted our tour, used our transportation, our guide’s time and talents and our tickets to the USS Arizona (for which you did not have to wait online for several hours to get) and USS Missouri (for which you did not have to wait to take the shuttle) and even though Viator and our company were getting conflicting information from you about the tour and your experience, we decided to issue a partial refund because we care very much about customer service.

Noe was a good tour guide. It started out a little rocky however because I don't think that she realized that we were to be with her all day. We booked this tour specifically as we did not have a flight out until later in the evening. Once that was straightened out Noe took very good care of us. We had been on a tour of Honolulu earlier before our cruise, but she was able to show us areas we had not scene. We expecially enjoyed her commentary about the different architectural styles in the city as well as different neighborhoods. Our luggage was safe in a different vehicle and we met up outside the airport to retrieve it.
