Overview

Take a relaxing ride down the Tarcoles River and through the Guicalillo Mangroves as you observe diverse wildlife. This three-hour tour will have you spotting endemic birds such as mangrove hummingbirds, vireos, warblers, flycatchers and more! Your captain and ornithologist guide will help you spot as many birds as you can. Enjoy use of binoculars and a birds guide on the tour.

Transportation is NOT INCLUDED, it must be organized and quoted at the time of booking, since its price will depend on the number of people and place of pick up.In the area of ​​Jaco, Playa Hermosa, Herradura and surroundings we pick up clients 40 minutes before the tour. For another destination we must coordinate a pick-up time.

Absolutely fantastic outing, the early morning professional bird photography tour is highly recommended. Jose the boat driver has eagle eyes to spot local birds and wildlife, and our guide Jostin was wonderful in every way. We saw all the birds we hoped for and more, and had many excellent photo opportunities. Highly recommended!

Birding wonders.

So, this was a three-hour birding tour with a bit of walking and a boat ride through the mangroves. For those who love birding, which I do, I cannot say enough good things about this tour. Our guide, Randall, was wonderfully knowledgeable. We spotted tiny grey bats sleeping like lichen on a branch, a pygmy flycatcher, the turquoise-browed mot-mot, and 47 other species of birds. Randall went out of his way to make sure that we got terrific photographs as well. I can promise that any birder who takes this tour will walk away delighted with the colors and sounds of Costa Rica and an appreciation of the efforts underway to preserve such beauty.

Randall Ortega was an interesting and knowledgeable guide. He provided high quality binoculars and excellent tips for finding and seeing the birds. We saw so many different species and because of his extensive experience he was able to answer all our questions. In addition he provided information about the local terrain and river. It was a fantastic experience and I highly recommend this tour.
