This was an excellent introduction to the tea ceremony including the opportunity to prepare a delicious cup of matcha. Whilst lasting 45 minutes the experience was not rushed and was very enjoyable and informative.

Atsuko is an awesome hostess
Alka_B, Sept 2023
I really enjoyed this small group elegant demonstration and loved Atsuko’s Osaka sense of humour. I did not want a super long extended ceremony with tons of people and kimono rental and so this was perfect for me. Just up the hill from the Camellia tea house on the left is a tiny shop with the best green tea ice cream in Kyoto. There is just one chair to sit in front of it, go there instead of the many larger ice cream joints further up the hill. Also a great Italian coffee place on the left at the top of this part of the hill. This area is great to walk around and you can shop without worry - no price gouging in Japan in tourist areas, though there are price differentials between cities.

It was amazing!! The guide was so fun, funny, and created the best atmosphere even though the people in the ceramony didn't know each other. She had amazing english and was super interesting. The tea ceramony was very relaxing and learning about it was amazing. The tea was so good.
Fab experience

Lovely way to spend an hour out of a busy schedule. Very informative and we also got to make the tea ourselves after the demonstration 😊
Authentic experience in a vibrant area

Great experience right off the main drag. I got just a wee bit turned around and was a few minutes late and they called AND sent somebody out to get me. This is next level customer service from USA perspective! Ritualized ceremonial tea service with one cup of Matcha, and one sweet treat. Photos allowed but no video. Put all of your personal belongings in a small cubby, takeoff your shoes and walk upstairs seated Japanese style for the ceremony. About eight guests fit in the room. Lots of places along the way to rent a kimono or I believe they offer this service as well. NOTE: they have two locations, so look at your reservation carefully.

It was a wonderful experience! The deep meaning of tea ceremony was explained very well. I know this is a just introduction, but the visitors in Kyoto definitely should try.
