So glad we did this! We tried lots of foods we never would have thought to try if we had not gone on this tour. When we passed foods that we wanted to try, that were not part of the tour, our guide made time for us to try those foods. We also had some sake tastings and and learned a ton. Highly recommended!

Great way to explore Nishiki market

Had a lovely time with Yutaka. We started with a walk through the Pontocho neighborhood with great explanation of local history and culture. Having a local walk with you through the Nishiki market is a great experience and he explained what many food items were and had some great samples. Stoped for lunch and then finished the market tour. Afterwards Yutaka was kind enough to show me a great place to buy matcha. Overall a great way to spend a morning in Kyoto. Would highly recommend :)

Informative tour but not just about food

Our guide Hiroko was very informative. We especially enjoyed the market and sampling some of the different foods. We also enjoyed visiting the shrine and learning more about the customs for praying and writing wishes on the wooden ema plaques. I had expected that more of the tour would be spent at the market, based on the title of the tour, however the first hour was spent walking in the historic district and going to the shrine - I feel this should be made more clear in the description. Also I would have preferred to try a greater range of interesting foods at the market, rather than sitting down to eat at a restaurant at the end.

Wonderful tour with Yukata. Great knowledge of the markets with some history of Kyoto on the walk, taken on a walk through the Gion district on the way to the markets. The markets were fabulous and we had various tastings at stalls that Yukata had organised for us. Delicious lunch at a local restaurant. All up a wonderful 3 1/2 hours spent with a delightful guide, nothing was too much trouble - highly recommend!!!
