Felt like the guide was a bit inexperienced and often drifted off topic. After the tour we were still unsure how chocolate is made:/
Our favorite tour in La Fortuna!
Catherine_F, Mar 2023
Our group of 3 had such a fun time on this tour. Our guide Josue was so funny and we got to try a bunch of different delicious fruits, some local liquor, coffee, and chocolate. We booked the 8am slot which was awesome because we were the only ones, so it felt like a private tour! Can’t recommend this enough!
Truly amazing!!

An amazing tour led by a gracious and friendly family. I learned so much about not only chocolate and coffee but about tropical fruits and spices. Lots of samples along the way and a sloth bear spotting as well. Well worth it!! We went back to buy the organic and unprocessed chocolate.
Amusing, but not worth the $

My family (2 teens and my partner) agree that this was really not worth the money. The fruit they gave us was generous, but the first part of the tour was essentially walking from one fruit tree to another, all within 30 feet from each other. The process of making chocolate was midly interesting, but the hot chocolate tasted like milk. The guide was amusing, but he took/made two phone calls during the tour, which was a little weird.

The tour was fantastic! For our two teenagers, my husband and me, this tour was one of our highlights during our entire trip! We loved trying all of the fruit, sugar cane juice, hot chocolate and coffee. Plus the sloth we were able to see on the property was an incredible bonus! I loved that is a family-owned business. Such a great experience!
Worth It!!1

We enjoyed the whole tour. We learned about all the organic fruits, vegetables, coffee, and chocolate they grow on their property. It's worth your time. Don't miss it!!
Authentic, local chocolate tour!

This was a casual yet very enjoyable tour. We loved that it was a local farm run by a local family. We got to try many different varieties of fruits grown on the farm, and my son helped crush the sugar cane to make the sugar water.
The chocolate-making demonstrations were educational and fun, and everyone loved the chocolate milk treat at the end.
I was surprised we didn’t taste any actual chocolate, but I liked that the chocolate milk was made fresh with the homemade cacao paste.
The kids liked playing with the family’s dog, and we even saw a sloth up close in one of the trees!
The whole experience was intimate and authentic. I highly recommend!
Delicious! And informative!

What a delicious start to our day! We learned about, saw, and tasted so much on this family farm: exotic fruits and artesenal chocolate. The tour was educational as we learned and saw how chocolate is farmed, harvested, roasted and processed. We also learned about the growing process and uses of many plants and fruits and the ecosystem. We were served generous samples of so many delicious fruits and chocolate! They also will share a taste of rum and coffee, if you would like.
Maino was a great tour guide: friendly and knowledge and spoke English as well as Spanish. It was a special treat to get to speak with papa Otto (in Spanish) and learn about his personal history with his family farm.
This is a must-do for chocolate and/or fruit lovers! It was a very good value!
Great tour!

Our family thoroughly enjoyed the tour! It was so educational. We all learned so much. We also got to see some wildlife.
Chocolate Tour for the Ages
Phyllis_T, Feb 2023
This was much more than a chocolate tour! Our guide showed us delicious fruit trees and then we received many fresh samples to try and even drank orange juice from an orange. We were able to see the process of roasting the cacao beans and sampled steaming hot chocolate and coffee at the end! Well worth the admission price! Dynamics between father and son as they shared the business was enjoyable!

This was way more than a chocolate tour! The farm is family owned and a delightful experience. We had samples of several fruits grown on the farm, sugar cane, and a ton of information about how cacao is grown and processed
Highly recommend for an authentic Costa Rica experience.
