Overview
Take a walk through the rainforest canopy on a tour of the hanging bridges surrounding Arenal Volcano. Many species of Costa Rican wildlife like monkeys, sloths, and frogs live up in the trees, so these suspended walkways give you a bird’s-eye perspective of Arenal’s amazing ecosystem. The mostly flat aerial hike is gentle enough for most ages and abilities, so the whole family can experience the wonder of the rainforest.
- Maximize your chances of wildlife sightings on a hanging bridges hike
- See a different layer of the rainforest where many animals live
- Great way for all ages to connect with nature
- Non-slip walking surface with no stairs can suit different abilities

Thank you for your visit! Mistico Park offers a place to meet nature through a trail in the tropical forest and the tour of six suspension bridges that allow visitors to walk above the treetops. It is a recommended activity for the whole family. In addition, we have green areas for picnics, covered kiosks with tables and chairs, and a beautiful view of the Arenal Volcano. We hope you can return soon!
Rain forest… yes please!

After staying in Tamarindo for a few days, we wanted a taste of true Costa Rican rain forest… it was a long drive to lake Arenal and this hidden gem, the ‘hanging bridges’ near the volcano. The views alone were spectacular… add to that the true experience of a rain forest and the thrill of walking on hanging bridges 60 to a 100 feet of the ground, was amazing… we recommend!
Fun walk through the jungle.

Really enjoyed walking through the park and over the bridges. Would recommend to anyone visiting the area. Our favorite part was seeing the coatis walking around as we traversed the trail.

Awesome and exercise for the entire family! There is two routes the main route which covers the entire park 2.5hrs. Now for those who seek less Challenges there is a short cut route as well.

This was a different kind of adventure. Get ready to walk A LOT and to be mesmerized by the beauty of the rainforest. We went on a day that was rather crowded, which made it hard to appreciate the sounds of the rainforest (despite signage asking people to be quiet, we were sandwiches between two very large and loud groups). We did this tour without a guide and still appreciated all it had to offer. We saw many different critters along our path, really bringing to life all that we read about the rain forest in books. The paths are easy to walk on and the bridges were very safe. My husband had some difficulty at times because he is afraid of heights, but he did just fine. We wore windbreakers in case it rained (which it did), but the thick canopy protected us from getting wet! 😀
Breathtaking views and lots of wildlife

We had a great time at the hanging bridges. The drive there was nice, through a more touristy area, so the roads were all nicely paved. Once we entered the park we saw wild coatis, our first sighting in CR. The check in process was simple, we purchased tickets online before our trip. We decided to do an early morning walk because I read you could see the volcano better in the early hours, before the clouds rolled in. We had a great view of the volcano, with little cloud coverage at the very top. Throughout the park we saw lots of wildlife, including birds and a family of monkeys (definitely the highlight). The walkways are nicely paved using various materials. It does get steep in some areas and was definitely strenuous, but I am out of shape, and carry a few extra pounds and I was able to make it the 2 hours or so it took us to get through everything. Afterwards we ate a late breakfast at the restaurant that overlooks the volcano and had some delicious food.
We perform checks on reviews
You can only submit a review or rating of an experience to Viator if you were the person who made the booking through Viator. Before publication, each review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information for each of the following criteria: who, what, how, and when. If the system detects something that contradicts our publication criteria, the review is not published. When the system detects a problem with a review, it may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site. In some cases, we will also send you an email asking you to validate your review before it is published. All you need to do is click on the link provided in the email. After publication, our team checks each review reported to it as not meeting our publication criteria. Tripadvisor reviews that appear on the Viator site are subject to the same checks and moderation processes as set out above. It is not necessary to have booked an experience through Viator (or Tripadvisor) to submit a review of an experience to the Tripadvisor site.
