We were lucky, in that my wife and I had our Guide, Alessia, all to ourselves. Alessia was extremely knowledgeable about the history of Citivecchia, and we came away with an appreciation of its background.

History of town plus foid

I expected a walking food tour - this was an historical walking tour with 2 food stops. Spent an hour outside city wall to learn Roman history then went into a charming coffee shop to chose a drink and pastry and sit for a few minutes with time to use the bathroom. Then inside the city wall to visit a church and learn the medieval history of the town. Finished up at a restaurant that gave us a glass of wine and each of us a huge treasure box of a dozen appetizers like different olives, cheeses, salamis. There is a free shuttle into town from the cruise port and our guide met us just outside the gate where the bus lets you off. We went on to meet other folks at a statue. She showed folks how to get back to shuttle at end of tour but I stayed and did the nearby archaeological museum. (Small but nice)

The tour guide was excellent history of Civitavecchia. It was disappointing that we only stopped for food twice, and it was supposed to be food tasting tour. Other Viator food tasting tours in our experience of scene 5 different places… All small Hastings, however, did taste many spots.

Civitavecchia is not a big city and we preferred two places with abundant tasting to smaller tastings in order to spend more time getting to know the city. However, we take a cue from your review, thanking you for your sincerity and for choosing one of our tours. Your advice to offer a tour purely dedicated to food is an excellent suggestion that we are already considering.

We had an excellent walking tour with Alessa recently. She was extremely informative and interesting and we learned so much about Civitavecchia, it’s history and what it is like today. At the 2 stops we had the most delicious food, far more than we expected. I would really recommend this as a great alternative to travelling into Rome for cruise passengers, particularly if like us you have done this previously.

Excellent short tour!

Luisiana was a wonderful guide! The tour was a great way to spend the morning before boarding our cruise ship. We learned some interesting history about Civitavecchia, enjoyed some delicious pastries and cappuccino, and ended with some wine and a plate of delicious meats and cheeses. Definitely recommend this tour if you only have a short time to spend in Civitavecchia.

Great day in Civitavecchia

Our cruise ship was in port in Civitavecchia, and we opted to skip Rome (way too long a ride to get to Rome). Instead, we chose to visit Civitavecchia. Great decision! It was very easy to take the port shuttle bus to meet up with our guide, Natalina. The Foody Tasting Walking Tour was great. We learned plenty about the history of Civitavecchia, and visited nice areas of the town that we would have missed had we wandered around on our own. We visited a fantastic little bakery and an even better restaurant (I wish I could remember the name of the restaurant so that I could recommend it). Natalina was an exceptional guide. Her thorough knowledge and warm personality made the tour very memorable. Also, our time in port was limited, and Natalina did a perfect job of managing the tour with our timeline in mind. Thank you, Natalina!

So much more than just food!

We decided instead of rushing into Rome, we would spend a lazy day off our cruise ship exploring this port city. This is so much more than just a fantastic foody tour. Natalina gave us a detailed and interesting walking tour of the city including Civitavecchia's rich history. She was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. We had pastry and cappuccinos, saw the hustling market area where we got to sample nespola (a peach like fruit we had never experienced) Along the tour, we walked by a local theatre. I asked if we might take a look inside. She said "we can try" and in we walked. Natalina charmed her way in so we could see the interior and even got a personal impromptu tour from the house manager. The tour ended with a lunch of delicious cheese, bread, local sausages, prosciutto and of course, wine! Highly recommend!
