Acessoble screw up
ohmbjr, Mar 2023
I booked this wheelchair accessible tour but I was unable to climb the bus stairs. Ariel from Greenway tours was sk very helpful and was able to get me a cab to take me to one of the parks where I hired my own tour guide. It honestly would have been bettter and less expensive for me to just hire a taxi myself at the port.
Response from Host, Mar 2023
Thank you for your review. Unfortunately all our tours are listed as not wheelchair accessible due the difficult access to Cahuita Park and enter the boat tour at Tortuguero Canal. Even you book it, we were able to accomodate you and you visited the places listed in the program

This was a very broad overview of Costa Rica it was just enough to give you an appreciation fir the diversity of this lovely country. It would be nice to have much more time at each location but the cruise ships just dont stay there long enough. Gueewe we need to go back on our own just to visit longer.

What tour ?
Road559030, Dec 2019
Tour was scheduled for 9 a.m. We showed up at 8:45 and were told they had already left. One of the port staff called the tour company, who said they had emailed us to inform us of the change in pick up time. NEWS FLASH for the tour company - MANY people are on VACATION when they are on a cruise and want to disconnect from email for a while. The had my cell phone number - ever hear of TEXTING? We did get a full refund, but our aggravation index was off the charts. Good part was that we hooked up with a local tour guide, who took on a private tour with the same itinerary, and had a wonderful time. I wonder if the tour company will pay for the internet access fee on board next time we sail.

Hello Thank you very much for your negative review about our tour and services. When you book a tour thought platforms, as VIATOR, you must to know how it works and pay attention to your confirmations, charges, communication with tour operator and other details. You can´t ignore all this aspects that are listed in the terms and conditions listed when you make a purchase of a product or tour as in this case. We are very sorry you didn´t read the message we sent to you the same day of your booking. October 01, 2019 in this case. So, we sent you the pick up time and meeting instructions 45 days before your tour. Even your voucher stated 9:00 AM as pick up time, we advise you that due operational reasons the pick up time will be 8:00 AM. I can understand that MANY people are on VACATION and what to disconnect as you said. But AS I SAID, we send you the correct information just few minutes after you book the tour. WHY you didn´t check your ONLINE BOOKING SYSTEM?. All these systems send you alarms or alerts when you get a message and you can easily communicate with the local tour operator. Here is the message we sent and no, we will not pay your Internet bill next time you sail. It is just pay a little bit more attention to your reservations next time Hello Rick Thank you for booking your shore excursion in Costa Rica with TRIPADVISOR EXPERIENCES. Not 6 in 1 at all! Very Unorganized and misleading!
Kathryn_K, Mar 2019
We barely made it to the tour because although we were told “PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE PIERS ENTRANCE” we finally found the tour group OUTSIDE THE PIER ENTRANCE on the STREET!! It was raining off and on, we wish we had been told to BRING RAING GEAR including proper footwear! The rainforest was wet although the guide told us it was the dry season. Ok we get that but we didn’t get to do much in the rain, saw barely anything in the rainforest which was more like a long walk on a beach trail, didn’t go on a banana plant tour, stopped at a place for a quick bite of local fare. After dropping off 80% of the group back at the port, foir of us went on to the boat tour. This was interesting and we did see a few sloths, plus other local animals and birds (the two tour guides didn’t seem all that interested until we pointed some out) we then got back on the tour bus and ended up back at the cruise port. By that time it wasn’t raining and we never got our walking tour of the city. We feel this tour was not worth the money we paid. The tour guide did a good job of trying to make this tour work but it was soured by most of the group who spent all the time they were there complaining that they weren’t on their PRIVATE TOUR and were split up from the rest of their group. It wasn’t very enjoyable for the rest of us at all!! This tour seemed very unorganized and was not worth the money we paid for what was advertised.

An excellent tour that really gave you a feel for the eastern part of Costa Rica. Our guide spoke excellent english and was very informative of all facets of the economy and of life in this country. We did get rained out in the rain forest portion ------ but no fault of the tour. It is hard to see wildlife with many people around I heard this from other tours also ----- but in the Tortuguero Canal our guides and boat driver had sharp eyes and pointed out sloths, lizards and a spider monkey while many other tour boats drove on past us. The banana plantation experience was highly informative. We had lunch at a nice restaurant. I'm not a shopping fan so I will leave out that small portion. Would recommend this to anyone

This tour was a prime choice for us. We visited a banana plantation, walked through a rain forest that was surprisingly next to the beach, and took a boat ride to see wildlife. We saw multiple monkeys, 2 and 3 toe sloths, birds, and a young crocodile. The tour guide was very knowledgeable, shred life in Costa Rica and was very friendly. Wear good shoes for hiking and a camera is essential. You will enjoy this tour.

Carol_L, Feb 2018
So called rain forest trek was only a short walk along the coast with trees. There wasn't much to see. We saw a few monkeys and couple butterflies. Our bus stopped at the side of the road of a banana plantation. Our tour guide spent about 10 minutes to explain how usually a banana plantation cares and packs bananas. We didn't even have a chance to get out of the car to see or visit a banana plantation. Cruising down the canal was fun but again there was not much to see. They did give each one of us a box of fresh cut fruits which were delicious.

Marlene W, Dec 2017
Alberto and his driver met us promptly went we got off the boat. There were only four of us on this tour which made for a very intimate experience. During our all day tour we saw tons of birds on the river as well as sloths and howler monkeys. The rainforest is located in a national park adjacent to the coast. A wide and easy pathway with our viewing pleasure of howler monkeys, capuchin monkeys, raccoons!, lizards, leaf cutter ants, sloths and a small yellow viper snake-yikes. Amazing how our guide could spot with his laser a critter that would have escaped our eyes. Had lunch including rice and beans at a local establishment. Last stop was for souvenirs' where our driver locked the keys in the mini bus with the engine running. Thank goodness at a site that had a tool box as wrenches were required to unbolt the door so we could get back in! We laughed as this twenty minute delay made for a few laughs and coining our trip the 7 and 1 combo tour! Highly recommend this trip with plenty of time of sightsee and return in plenty of time to our ship.

The tour guides were knowledgeable and friendly. The highlight to me was walking through the rainforest. So many plants and animals were spotted and explained by our guide which made the walk more enjoyable. The banana plantation was a disappointment, as due to chemical sprays we were not allowed to go into the plantation. It was more of a drive by. This should have been explained prior to our booking. Our tour guide had many props to help explain the fauna and flora while we were in the mini bus. His wife had made them and they were helpful. Fresh fruit was offered 2 times during the tour, a nice treat to enjoy.

Excellent tour! Our guide had very good knowledge of the flora and fauna and gave a very in-depth tour. He was extremely well prepared with examples of they plants we would see. He even brought along a sample of cocoa that we could taste in the raw. Our driver had eagle eyes and spotted many animals including sloths and monkeys.

traffic was horrible! for a ninty minute tour, it took 2 hours, and the opportunity to get off the bus was difficult at best.
