Pickup details

This tour is exclusive for cruise ship passengers. If you are not arriving by cruise ship please do not book this tour. Tour operate only when we have cruise ships in port. Pick up is at the main gate entrance of the pier. It is a very short walking distance from the cruise ship. Once at the entrance of the pier, you will see a Greenway Tours Guide holding a sign with your name. SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT PICKUP TIME All our pickup times are set to 8:00 AM by default. HOWEVER: If your ship arrives after 8:00 AM, the Pickup will be 9:00 AM or 30 minutes after ship arrival. You can book your tour and we will adjust the time accordingly with your ship arrival. If you ship is late, our staff will wait for you till the ship dock and allow you disembark. We operate all our tours accordingly with the ship´s arrival.

What To Expect

Your shore excursion begins with port pickup in the morning. Board an air-conditioned vehicle destined for Tortuguero National Park, and you are on your way.

Climb aboard a covered boat and embark on an exciting cruise on the Tortuguero Canals, home to diverse wildlife species such as howler monkeys, sloths, crocodiles, bats, aquatic birds, and toucans.

Following the boat ride, you’ll refresh with a snack of tropical fruit before continuing to the Del Monte Banana Plantation. Take a tour of the area and learn more about bananas before returning to Limon port.

Tortuguero Canal

The canals that lead to the Tortuguero National Park begin in the Puerto Moin sector, just 5 miles from the center of the Limon province. This moin sector has small docks for small boats that make the trip along the Caribbean coast, until they reach their final point in Barra de Colorado. This system of natural and artificial canals made by man, are a tourist attraction because it runs through beautiful sectors of forests, small towns and offers a perfect opportunity to admire a large number of wild animals such as monkeys, sloths, iguanas, alligators, waterfowl and many more.

Puerto Limon

Limón, commonly known as Puerto Limón, is a district, the capital city and main hub of Limón province, as well as of the Limón canton in Costa Rica. It is the seventh largest city in Costa Rica, with a population of over 55,000, and is home of the Afro-Costa Rican community. The pier is located right in front of the city and it is a small town that you can explore easily with a short walk. During our tour, our guide will provide a short city tour where you will be able to learn about its culture, traditions and principal attractions.

This was a very exciting tour. Steven was an awesome tour guide. He was very knowledgable. We went to the by a banana plantation and learned how banana are grown and harvested. The rain forest was amazing. We seen lots of sloths, birds, and many different wildlife. The Tortugero canal boat ride was absolutely amazing. Lots of different wild life. The highlight of this tour that amazed us so much was the boat driver Charlie pulled the boat up under a sloth about 5-6 feet over our head. It was totally breath taking to be that close to a sloth and watch it move. This tour was the best highlights of our trip.

Our guide was very knowledgeable and able to answer any questions. In Cahuita National Park, He pointed out a lot of animals different monkeys, etc. and other things like hermit crabs and even a yellow eyelash pit viper snake up in a tree! We spent very little time at the banana plantation but the boat trip was very fun and interesting. We saw Howler monkeys, iguanas, a Black Hawk and more.Highly recommend if you really love nature!

Unorganized at the pier. Walking tour thru the rain forest was substituted for the banana plantation, since banana plantation part of tour has changed. Which was excellent. I recommend this tour.

Eerste deel was Cahuita Park. Mooie begeleide wandeling van een uur in het Nationale Park. En terug over het strand als je wilde. Was heel mooi en rustig. Daarna met het busje naar een bananenplantage, alsook cacao-en koffiebonen-planten. Prima uitleg door onze gids. Heel interessant. Hij sprak zeer duidelijk Engels. We reden verder naar de Tortugero-kanalen. Alles moet nu een beetje haastig omdat 1! koppel van een ander schip kwam en daardoor moesten we al vroeger terug zijn. Was niet volgens de afspraak vooraf. Het varen door de kanalen was aangenaam maar te kort. We hebben enkele apen en een luiaard en een kleine kaaiman gezien. Beetje teleurgesteld toen. In de bus zelf zeer goede en veel uitleg door onze gids over Costa Rica (Pura Vida) en al de aspecten van onderwijs enz. Proficiat voor de gids. Besluit: aan te raden als de groep van 1 schip komt en hetzelfde uur moet aanhouden. Wij zaten op Norwegian jewel.
