What To Expect

Meet your comfortable, air-conditioned coach at Victoria Coach Station and set out on your tour of London’s royal highlights.

As you travel, don your state-of-the-art Vox headphones that allow you to hear every word of your guide’s commentary crisply and clearly. Listen to fascinating facts about London’s royal history and architecture, and have your camera ready along the way to snap photos of the passing landmarks.

Start with a panoramic drive through London’s handsome streets to Kensington Palace, the home of Diana, Princess of Wales from 1981 until her untimely death in 1997. Admire the elegant proportions of the palace, and hear about Diana’s life here. Then, admire the famous concert venue that is the Royal Albert Hall, and see the Albert Memorial, a grandiose memorial commissioned by Queen Victoria in honor of her beloved husband Prince Albert.

Circle Trafalgar Square and cruise down Whitehall past the Downing Street residence of the British Prime Minister. Then, drive by the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben at Parliament Square, and continue to Westminster Abbey, the magnificent Gothic church where Prince William and Kate Middleton were married in April 2011.

After taking photos here, continue to St James’ Park and Buckingham Palace to see the famous Changing of the Guard ceremony. Listen as your guide talks about the ceremony’s history. Then, from a viewpoint facing the palace, look on as the on-duty Queen’s Foot Guards — wearing their iconic red tunics and bearskin hats — march in time to a military band, and ceremoniously exchange their duties with the new guard.

Your tour then finishes in Trafalgar Square, leaving you free to explore central London during the afternoon as you wish. For a bird's-eye view of the city, upgrade to include an open-date ticket for the London Eye.

The guide was informative but, due to preparations for King Charles’ coronation (7 days before), there was no changing of the guard to see. There was no wifi on the bus.

It was a very informative tour. Unfortunately, we weren't able to see the changing of the guards but only because they were preparing for the coronation so the schedule was not normal. We were able to see some of the preparation for the event sort of replaced the event that we missed. It is a great way to see the city, hear the history and the background of way things are in that country. I would highly recommend doing the tour, it is a great introduction.

The driver and guide were courteous & professional. The guide had some fun stories about hotels and buildings we drove past. He would answer questions. The disappointment began when the bus arrived late and we had to chase the changing of the guard parade. When we caught up, we stood far away on the street watching the marching of the guard (new guard in, old guard out). We were not taken to view the changing of the guard ceremony in the courtyard. In fact, during the actual Changing Ceremony, we were told that not much was going on and it was suggested, if needed, use the toilets. There was little attempt to explain the true history and pageantry of the guard ceremony or share “insider knowledge” to explain what was happening and why. While we did somewhat enjoy viewing the “marching guard, from a distance” – but this fell short of expectations.

The tour itself was good, but we actually received a very similar experience from the hop-on/hop-off double deck bus tours around town. The Changing of the Guard Ceremony was fun/interesting, but it's also very hectic and you better be able to walk fast to keep up with the tour leader and the marching guards. Wasn't a problem for us, but some older folks were definitely struggling. What was disappointing was our London Eye Upgrade! We thought by purchasing this upgrade, we would be given a ticket for the London Eye and actually taken to the location. Instead, we were given a voucher and left at Trafalgar Square to find our own way. Getting there wasn't a crisis, but it definitely took some walking and a tube ride. With the voucher, you still have to wait in line to purchase tickets at the London Eye and then wait in line again to ride the attraction. We were running a little short on time, so we returned the next day. To make things go more quickly, we upgraded our voucher to a Fast Track ticket, which had a much shorter line to purchase the ticket and we basically got right on the attraction (was a 12 pound upgrade per person).

We got caught in traffic on our way to the tour. We did not realize how bad it was in London - add 15 to 20 minutes on top of what uber says time will be. We called the office to ask them to let the driver know we would be about 5 minutes late. The office informed us the bus had already left. They didn't offer any rebate or any other solutions of taking another tour at another time. I was very disappointed in Viator.

Our guide was wonderful,but we really did nothing that you could not do on your own for free. We met the bus at Victoria Station, went to the area of Westminster and got out, only had about 15minutes to walk around. After that the bus took us to the area of Buckingham Palace, where we got out and walked near the palace and took some pictures. Never did see the changing of the guard because it was not a day they change. That was all we did and we did the a.m. only and felt it was a total waste. The London Eye was nice but if you purchase with that option you do it on your own, and it can be done any day you wish. The only thing is you still have to wait in two lines with your voucher, one to get the ticket and than another, which is extremely long, to get on the eye itself.
