What To Expect

Start your day trip near the main train station in central Lucerne, where you’ll meet your guide aboard the coach for the drive to Lauterbrunnen. The scenic journey winds below the impressive mountain peaks of the Bernese Oberland en route to your destination in the UNESCO-listed wilderness of Switzerland’s Bernese Alps.

On arrival at Lauterbrunnen, your guide accompanies you on a 100-minute cogwheel train ride to Jungfraujoch, Europe’s highest-altitude railway station sitting 11,333 feet above sea level. Along the way, travel through the breathtaking mountain pass of Kleine Scheidegg, situated beneath the famous Eiger North Face.

Disembark at the Top of Europe and head to the Alpine Sensation — a round-tour subway opened to mark the centenary of the Jungfrau Railway. This latest attraction links the Ice Palace and Sphinx Observatory, where you can soak up panoramic views over Aletsch Glacier, Europe's longest glacier. On a clear day, look as far as the snow-capped peaks of France and Italy.

If you wish, purchase a snack or a warm drink at the on-site restaurant (own expense) before the cogwheel train ride to ‘Eigergletscher’, where you will change to the V-Cableway Eiger Express. After approx. 15 minutes you will reach Grindelwald Terminal, where your coach awaits. Then hop aboard your coach for the return drive to central Lucerne where your tour concludes in the evening.

The trip to Jungfraudoch was really exciting. The tour guide was very helpful. We really enjoyed the trip. Our guided tour of Switzerland was via another agency - Jungfraudoch was not covered. I think without this special tour our Switzerland trip would not be complete.

The views and scenery were fabulous on the trip up and back but unfortunately due to the weather, there were no views from Jungfraujoch. The trip was quite expensive so bad weather is quite a risk.

Extremely satisfied. All the directions, reminders and in detail explanations deserve an A++.

I guess the tour guide plays an important role. Keith was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and active. He managed this tour very professionally. My husband and I were lucky to be with a group of people that were always on time. The sites were amazing and unbelievable. Every one should experience this tour.

The views only get better as the trip goes along. By the time you get to the top it takes your breath away. Our guide was named Kid and was top-notch. kid knew where the good photo spots were and at times took your camera to ensure we got top photos Kid was really professional and definetly looked after the groups interests.

This was such a wonderful way to see the beauty of Switzerland and the gorgeous Swiss Alps. The itinerary hit all the highlights with sufficient time at each place. Our guide, Kid, was so experienced, and he was key to getting everyone where they needed to be quickly and efficiently. Kid’s high energy helped make the tour entertaining even while on the trains or trams by capturing creative photos for tour members so they could have precious memories captured throughout the tour. I would highly recommend this tour, especially with Kid as a guide!

Kid our tour guide made the trip. He was very knowledgeable pointing out all the beautiful photo opportunities. He took everyone's pictures for them so they were in the photo's together. The ice palace was beautiful and the views from the mountain top spectacular. Kid is a very unique guide (kind of like the soup nazi but in a good way) very funny! I highly recommend this tour.

Jungfraujoch-Top of Europe is a very popular destination and reaches out to many visitors. They have a counting system and allow only a certain number of persons to the top but I think sometimes this is rather difficult to control because the down hill ride is counted only when passengers start the down hill ride and even if they have reserved seats some visitors just take another train. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay at 'Top of Europe' even that you had to share your experience with many other visitors.

Kid was a tremendous tour guide who transformed a great experience into a memorable life event. He deftly shepherded us all through the maze that is the Top of Europe. He injected fun at every step (including dancing on the top of a glacier with parasols and flags). Most of all, he went out of his way to capture the memories on everyone's own cell phones.
