What To Expect

Greet your courteous guide at a conveniently located pickup point in central Madrid, and climb aboard a comfortable, air-conditioned bus destined for Toledo. While admiring the scenic countryside, receive an interesting introduction to the history of each region before arriving in the UNESCO World Heritage-listed city of Toledo.

Embark on a guided walking tour of the medieval city’s arresting landmarks and serpentine streets, visiting the Mirador del Valle and the Cathedral of Toledo. After thorough exploration, return to your vehicle, and continue onward to Segovia, a Roman city shrouded in history.

On arrival, witness the architectural splendor of the ancient aqueduct, a Roman structure. Next, marvel at the boat-shaped structure of El Alcazar (admission included), one of the most distinctive palace-fortresses in Spain, and then absorb the Gothic grandeur of the Cathedral of Segovia (entrance not included). If you have chosen the option that includes it, after Segovia you will visit Avila. Your guide will walk through its cobbled streets and you will make a stop at the “Mirador de los 4 Postes” where you will have a wonderful view of the city surrounded by the wall.

Understanding Historical Roots and Influence

Rushed and Basically Only a Walking Tour

I went into this experience with high expectations and was unfortunately disappointed. I would recommend you schedule a full day tour of Toledo or Segovia separately, or go on your own. Touring them together gave MINIMAL time in both destinations, and most of it was wasted on “walking tours”. Overall: guides and buses were nice, but the content of the tour is incredibly rushed and most of your day will be on a bus! Tour in Toledo: walked through the city and looked at all the important monuments from the outside! We did not go inside any monuments. I would have rather taken an hour alone to view a few monuments than walk around unnecessarily. The “free time” shared in the itinerary was only 20 minutes to get marzipan and coffee. We then spent ~45 “touring” a jewelers factory. We saw 5 minutes of someone making a sword, and someone making jewelry. Then spent ~30 minutes being pressured to buy things from the sales staff. Bus ride to Segovia: while bus is very nice, it gets HOT! Bring your own fan and take a Dramamine if you get motion sickness. Segovia: we had 1 hour to get lunch, which in Spain is challenging. I felt rushed. We then had another walking tour, where we just looked at the exterior of buildings. The aqueduct is very impressive though, and is incredibly cool (didn’t have much time to look at it though). We ended the day at the Alcazar in Sevilla where we had 20 minutes!!! To view the entire castle. I was speed walking through the entire thing, and did not enjoy it at all. The Alcazar is incredibly, and the inside has lots of cool artifacts… had I been able to spend time looking at them… Overall, save your time and money, and booked a whole day excursion to one of these cities! Two in one day is TOO MUCH!

Amigo - you need to provide clearer instructions on the pick-up location and the welcome people need clear signage (there was none). Consequently, most people were left stranded in different points around the pick-up location because it was simply confusing and unclear where the pick-up point was supposed to be. Despite this, it was an excellent tour. Toledo is beautiful and well worth a visit. But the star of the show is Segovia. This town will take your breath away, with it's amazing aqueduct, beautiful backstreets, stunning architecture and gorgeous landscape views. Our tour guide (Ignacio) gave clear meet-up instructions and a depth of knowledge of every part of each town. He was great - thankyou Ignacio. The bus company (separate from the tour company) let the show down. A late pick-up, then a very delayed return bus from Segovia that left us all standing in the pouring rain for 45mins. The name of the bus company ('Chaos') was choas by name and nature. Ignacio encouraged us to complain - we could see he was very upset about the delay. Nonetheless, when we were eventually given a bus, it was very clean, comfortable and the driver was very professional. Despite the transport problem, I would highly recommend this tour.

Tour guide for English speaking group was fantastic. He was knowledgeable and entertaining. The trips to Toledo and Segovia were fantastic. (I wish we went into the cathedrals at both places, though). The trip to Avilla was way too too fast. Less than an hour, a tour guide who was difficult to understand, spoke more to Spanish speakers than to English. I enjoyed seeing the outside walled city, going inside was a waste of time.

A tour to remember!

Khan was funny, knowledgeable and all around amazing. There was not anyone in our group who did not love him. You can feel his passion, knowledge and care in every step. Once you share something with him, it sticks and he will make sure to point it out the rest of the tour. To me this was the highlight of my trip. As for going with this tour, I intentionally wanted one without Avila. I wanted to see a good amount but not be burnt out by the experience. We only went into a few spots but that was the goal for me. I’m not a Catholic so going into churches is not a selling point. Also, we went on a Sunday which I actually think helped keep us focused and crowds reduced.

This was a great tour! There was plenty of walking and stairs where if you have any mobility challenges you may have difficulties. Our guides, Kahn & Cynthia, along with driver Juan Pablo were excellent guides. They were thorough in the history of both cities and entertained every question any of us asked. The highlight of our trip was the amazing aqueduct in Segovia - the history behind it and how recently it was in use!
