Traveller Tips

Remember to dress in layers, because the temperature could be cold in the morning and hot in the afternoon, especially after the hike.
One thing, bring headphones because some guides are chatty lol.
It's not a very easy hike and can be quite tiring so I wouldn't recommend it for older people.

Kangaroo makes the trip worthwhile
Eileen_G, Mar 2023
The drive from Melbourne to Grampian is long. Bring some snacks with you. There are not many lunch options out there. If you don’t like hotdogs and sandwiches, it is better to pack up your own food to take with you. The walk for the trail is tough, if you are not fit enough, don’t do it. Also I am not so impressed with the waterfall and canyon as I have seen much better ones in US and Canada. Our tour guide is very nice and great though. And seeing the kangaroo is the highlight of the entire trip.
Worth it!

5/5 for Raquel! She shared plenty of interesting stories & history throughout the tour which made it entertaining! She also gave us plenty of advice for hiking trails tailored to our various fitness levels
Great experience
Arnab_M, Mar 2023
Absolutely wonderful trip. Our Driver cum tourguide Jon was such a delightful and friendly person. We touched upon a number of lookout points and went to McKenzie Walls which was the highlight of the tour. We also managed to meet friendly kangaroos, wallabies and emus.
A day in the Grampians
Susan_Q, Mar 2023
I would like to make a review of my tour I traveled today with my father & daughter under tour guide Raquel on 13/3/2023. This is our first time to Melbourne. She took the extra mile to take care of my daughter, 14 who had motion sickness. She offered the front seat for her next to the driver’s seat to make her feel more comfortable and water with electrolytes. She also has a very beautiful voice like a radio DJ and explains the history of the towns, Grampian we went. We saw the beautiful Mackenzie Falls! Most importantly she drives safely and ensures we are able to see all that was listed in the itinerary. She makes the trip Interesting. I would like to give her a 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.

It was an amazing trip.sherif is one of the best tour guides i have met. The best things when we were on the way of Grampians sherif was told some fun fact about crossed villages
Rachael rocks the Grampians!
Sherry_R, Mar 2023
This trip was amazing thanks to Rachael’s wonderful attention to detail. Her humor, her musical transitions, her knowledge of Australia and engaging way of teaching us made for a perfect day. I felt so safe venturing off on my own following her guidance.
Great day trip

Grampians day trip was excellent, very impressing places. Tour guide and driver was very good. We also saw many kangaroos and emus on the way back. I can recommend this tour.
Beautiful scenery
Sandra_N, Feb 2023
A long day of Beautiful scenery ended with a kangaroo surprise Rob was a wonderful and knowledgeable guide. He kept us all entertained with his knowledge of the areas we visited and great music in between and on the way home.
Out in the bush
Karen_B, Feb 2023
We had a great time on this tour. Rachel was a great tour guide. She had great humor, perfect music, she was professional, and very knowledgeable. She made sure to tell us what our options were and where to go at all times. She was also very concerned about everyone's safety. We loved the hikes we did. We loved the views we saw, and we had the most perfect day. It was pretty hot, so a lot of the wildlife was not out in the afternoon. Rachel made sure that we still got to see kangaroos at the end of the day when she knew they would come out during the more cooler weather. The very first hike is for people who know how to hike and are used to a medium to medium strenuous hiking experience. Overall I think Go West could do better here by having a smaller group. We had about 23 in our party and it would have been perfect if it had been 10 or 12 people. This first hike is not for people who don't know how to hike and we had a lot of variety from young adults to middle age adults to elderly people. The tour company has done a great job in splitting out the time. You get to spend almost five hours in the park. The long drive out and back is very well planned with the stops we made.
Fun day
Gail_A, Feb 2023
Very beautiful scenery and lots of wildlife and Sherif was a great guide. We enjoyed our day but there should be a warning about the steep steps that you have to walk down to see a couple of water falls.
Beautiful part of Australia!
ElaineSimon_S, Feb 2023
It was extremely hot once we arrived at Grampians . 35C +. We were warned that the hike was difficult but after the first one., only half the people did the next one. Perhaps as preparation you should tell people in the event of extreme heat Eat a hearty breakfast bring extra towels , and sweets for energy. The stop in Ballarat was a disappointment- ( no napkins to eat our cake with and the thermos of water makes pretty grim tea. ) even if we had driven through I could have at least said we saw Ballarat. However saying all that we enjoy the trip because for us the purpose was to see some of the beautiful countryside which we certainly did. Without this tour we would not have been able to get there.I felt for our driver who had a long hot day! He did a good job and was very very helpful.
Not worth the long trip
Mark_L, Jan 2023
6 hours on a small bus with crummy leg room for essentially two 40 minute hikes to see waterfalls. Saw kangaroos emu up close in the wild which was good. Nice driver Sherif but just too long a trip. Hotel pickup nearly and hour before departing Melbourne so 7 hours in buses.
Response from Host, Jan 2023
We're sorry to hear that the reviewer found the journey to the Grampians from Melbourne too long. We have been in touch with the Grampians Tourism Board to see if we can have the mountain range moved closer to Melbourne, but they referred our request to a committee and the idea seems to have become bogged down there. Our hotel pickup run for this tour commences at 7.10am with last pickup at 8am, so if you're one of the first collected, you may be on the bus for an extra 50 mins. A solution to this is to ask to join our tour at one of our later pickup locations - then you'll be straight out of town after you're collected!

Chris H is an excellent tourist guide! Amazing waterfall, specteculer nature scene. Lots of wild animals.
Amazing views
Fernanda_Q, Jan 2023
Great time at the Grampians with our guide Rachel! I’d definitely recommend this tour for those who love nature and landscapes. Although we spend the majority of the time traveling the route is quite nice to lay back and relax. The walks to see the waterfalls are easy and the lookouts are breathtaking.
Great day out
Kathryn_M, Jan 2023
From start to finish this was an excellent tour. Our Guide, Sherif was superb. He was really knowledgeable about the area and history in respect to everything we were seeing and looked after us really well. The Grampians are beautiful and it’s an opportunity to see a different side of Victoria. We also got to see wild kangaroos and emus.
Great day!
Scott_H, Dec 2022
Such a fantastic trip. Margaret was an excellent guide and led us to all the best spots. We even got a wild emu and a bunch of kangaroos to top of the day. Highly recommended, but be ready to walk!
Value for money

Seeing the beautiful...
Selma_E, Oct 2022
Seeing the beautiful waterfalls, just magnificent. Margaret was also very patient and easy going. The Grampians is an abundance of nature in its best form.
Good trip but the ride was long
Tiffany_L, Sept 2022
The ride was long, but the scenery was great. Wish the walks can be longer. The rain gets really heavy in the end of the trip. Remember to get a raincoat or bring umbrellas.
Best trip
