What To Expect

Board a van and travel with your archeologist-guide from Mexico City to Teotihuacan, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, also known as the City of the Gods. A former Mesoamerican indigenous civilization that predates the Maya and Aztecs, Teotihuacan was once the largest city in Mexico, reaching its heyday in the 1st century CE (AD) when the Sun Pyramid was constructed.

Be one of the first visitors to arrive at the archeological park, right when it opens. In relative tranquility, wander through plazas and discover the pyramids without jostling around crowds. Enjoy taking unobstructed photos of must-see structures like the Temple of Quetzalcoatl, also known as the Temple of the Feathered Serpent, as well as the Palace of Quetzalpapalot.

Gain special insight into the complex’s less-visited monuments, including intricate murals and other architectural nuances. Hear about the latest archeological discoveries, the lifestyles of the inhabitants of this ancient city and theories behind the city’s decline.

Huff your way up the Sun Pyramid and the Moon Pyramid, the main axis of Teotihuacan. From the top, enjoy your bird’s-eye vantage point of the Avenue of the Dead, the primary road that runs through the center of the city, which separated the city and stretched from the Moon Plaza in the north to the Great Compound in the south.

After your Teotihuacan tour, hop aboard your transport and head to an obsidian workshop to learn more about the black volcanic rock native to the area. Chat with a local family and sample several liqueurs made from cactus, as well as mezcal, tequila, and pulque. For lunch, select from a variety of traditional Mexican dishes (own expense), before enjoying transport back to the central meeting point.

You need to visit Teotihuacan
Beatriz_S, Mar 2023
The visit to Teotihuacan is a must if you visit Ciudad de México. I would prefer to skip the Tequila Tasting and the tourist restaurant and go back to the city, but there is not an option for that. The guide was nice and he explain all about Teotihuacan and answer the questions.
Response from Host, Mar 2023
Dear Beatriz Thank you so much for taking the time to share your opinion with us, we deeply appreciate it. We are sorry that the tour was not a 5 stars experience to you, we are working hard to improve our services. Mariana, Amigo tours
Good tour
Beth_C, Mar 2023
Liked the early morning time with less people at the site. Wished there were less people trying to sell you things. Guide was informative but would have appreciated him waiting a little longer for slower people to catch up before starting his explanations. The tequila tasting also felt rushed. Enjoyed our lunch but 2 hours is too long. All in all, a good experience.

Do not recommend
Molly_S, Mar 2023
I cannot recommend this tour, we had a really poor experience. The actual pyramid section was fine, though it was a very large group so it was difficult to hear our tour guide, Gerson. It was also difficult at times to understand his accent. The latter half of the tour was plain awful. The gift shop they take you to is a giant sales pitch for obsidian and they give you tiny sips of tequila, mescal, and pulque. After that it was finally time for lunch. The menu was really lackluster (especially given how wonderful the food is in CDMX) and after 1.5 hours of waiting, our food did not arrive. At the last second, 2 of our 4 entrees came out but they were incorrect and we sent it back. Also, Gerson was rounding everyone up to get back on the bus. So we returned to the city without lunch. Overall, it was too long, poorly organized, and not worth the money.
Response from Host, Mar 2023
Dear Molly_S, we are really sorry to know you did not quite enjoy the tour, we will review your feedback with management, thank you for sharing your experience, hope you have a nice day! Ivana, Amigo Tours
So so
Adele_V, Mar 2023
The food at restaurant was low grade and took 1hr to serve. 3hrs, walking in the sun, tequila, shopping then food. Wrong order. Food, tequila, shopping might have been better? Guide Hendricks? Was good, talked a bit fast for me? Made a good effort to know his facts.
Response from Host, Mar 2023
Dear Adele_V, we are very glad to know you had an awesome time with our partner Gerson, on the other hand, we are sorry to know you did not enjoy lunch, we will review this with the restaurant, thank you for letting us know, hope to have you again! Ivana, Amigo Tours

Recommend!
Nancy_S, Mar 2023
Diana was an amazing tour guide: funny and knowledgeable! Although we did not need it, she offered different walking options for people with varying physical abilities, which was very thoughtful. The tequila tasting was educational and enjoyable, as well as the lunch restaurant we were taken to. We did stop at an obsidian/arts market but never left pressured to buy anything. The start time is early but worth it because you beat the high temps and crowds.
Response from Host, Mar 2023
Dear Nancy Diana will be delighted to get your comments, it was a pleasure to be at your service! We hope to have the opportunity to see you once again. Mariana, Amigo tours
Not worth the money
Jill_B, Mar 2023
Liliana is a charming tour guide but she is not a trained archeologist as advertised. She did not know how to answer many questions and the tour is very rushed. We barely had time at the moon and sun pyramids. I would choose a different tour.
Response from Host, Mar 2023
Dear Jill Thanks for taking the time to share your opinion with us. We are sorry to read that the tour guide did not meet your expectations, this is the first negative comment we get about her performance. We will keep it in mind to improve the experience. Mariana, Amigo tours

Awesome
Donna_D, Mar 2023
My friend and I took this tour and it was amazing. The guides Diana & Fernanda were excellent and really took care of us. On our way back to town the streets were all closed due to some rally and these guides walked us to the nearest center and directed all of us how to reach our hotels. The Tequila Tasting was okay; The only thing I didn't like were all the tourist trap entertainment while having lunch - I wish they would have given us the option of a quiet lunch.
Response from Host, Mar 2023
Amig@ Donna_D It has been a pleasure to read from you, you contagious us with the good experience you had, and it has been a pleasure to attend to you. Thank you very much for letting us know about your experience. Dulce, Amigo Tours

Great experience
Lorelei_C, Mar 2023
My husband and I really wanted to have a cultural experience while in Mexico. This was it. The only downside is it makes for a long hot day and you have to wait awhile before eating. We could have done without the tasting and the shopping.
Response from Host, Mar 2023
Dear Lorelei_C, we are very happy to know that your experience was wonderful, thank you for your review, have a great day and we hope to see you soon! Ivana, Amigo Tours
Tour was great, happy hour felt gimmicky
Arvind_S, Mar 2023
The tour itself was fantastic and informative, the tour guide was very knowledgeable on the site and the pace of the tour was great. However the happy hour and obsidian shop afterwards felt gimmicky and cheapened the overall experience & we would have preferred to return to CDMX earlier in retrospect.
Response from Host, Mar 2023
Dear Arvind_S, we are very sorry to know this issue at the obsidian shop overshadowed your experience, we will review this matter with our team to make improvements, thank you for your comments! Ivana, Amigo Tours

stephen_g, Mar 2023
The tour itself was great! The staff was friendly and helpful however I could have done without the 9-hour day. If there was an option to go out at 6 am to see the pyramids and be back by noon I would have taken it. But there wasn't so the tequila tasting and the restaurant was a little cheesy, just tourist traps but still not a horrible experience...
Response from Host, Mar 2023
Dear stephen_g, we are sorry to hear that this experience was not to your complete satisfaction. We will review with our staff what you have told us in order to detect and correct the areas of opportunity. Hope you have a nice day! Ivana, Amigo Tours
Great combination of experiences

Manuel was so knowledgeable and made the history come alive - so fascinating. Tequila tasting was fun and even educational. We enjoyed lunch but be aware that it is not included but isn’t really optional either
