Wonderful tour!
Jessica_C, Apr 2023
Had a great tour! The guide was very cool and knowledgeable, the bus was big and very comfortable, and the sites were really beautiful. I also thought the pacing was just right. Really great value for what you’re paying and it’s nice to know what you’re looking at when visiting especially the temples.
Highly recommended!

It was such a great tour! Emanuel was very knowledgeable and entertaining. He obviously knows history and I will read books that he recomended to expand my limited knowledge of Mexican history.
Good overall
Erika_T, Apr 2023
This visit was a mixed experience. The tour included multiple stops, starting with a visit to a location we couldn't enter and didn’t have a good view of, which was a bit disappointing. The second stop at the Basilica de Guadalupe was beautiful, but we ended up leaving 30 minutes later than the scheduled meeting time, which caused some frustration for some of the other tour participants. The tequila tasting was informative and enjoyable, but the restaurant stop was a letdown. The food wasn't good, and the performers were going to each person asking for tips, which detracted from the experience. However, the highlight of the tour was the visit to Teotihuacan itself. The site was breathtaking, and our guide was very knowledgeable about its history and significance. On the downside, the tour was on a charter bus, which felt a bit impersonal, but it was cheaper than some of the other tours. Also, at every stop, there were people trying to sell us something or asking for tips, which got annoying after a while. Overall, while there were some ups and downs, I appreciated that our tour guide was well-versed in the content and the history of the places we visited. I could have done without the first stop, and the requests for money at each place were a bit of a turn-off. Nevertheless, I would recommend the tour for the beautiful Teotihuacan visit and the tequila tasting experience.
Decent Tour
Rebecca_G, Mar 2023
Overall the tour was fine. Our guide, Edwin, shared general knowledge about the sites, but nothing specific when we asked questions. The bus was very nice and held about 50ish people but was not completely full. It had AC, USB ports, and a bathroom, which were all great. The tequila tasting was really cool, but restaurant was just okay, nothing amazing. By the time we got to Teotihuacan it was about 12:30. It wasn’t too crowded (we went on a Thursday), but was hot! The Guadalupe Shrine was really amazing and Edwin gave some good information there. By the time we got to the drop off point, we were all exhausted. The tour was good, but nothing that awed us. Going in a smaller group probably would have been better for us and our 8 year old.

It was nice that the tour...
Stephanie_C, Mar 2023
It was nice that the tour had organized the itinerary and scheduled the buses. However, it felt like the tour was forcing you to do things, instead of the main attraction of Teotihuacan. It took a long time for the bus to leave from the meeting point (about 40 minutes delayed), and then stopped at this souvenir/gift shop w/ tequila tasting first, where it felt like they were just trying to ply money from us. By this time, it was 12:00, and then we proceeded to Teotihucan. This was unfortunate because it was very hot by now and the sun felt toxic. After that, they gave you no choice but to stop at a mediocre restaurant for lunch. We didn't get back to the city until 5:30pm. The tour would have been better if they took us straight to Teotihuacan in the morning and then bring us back to the city. This way the trio can only take a morning instead of using up a whole day, on things that were not meaningful (e.g. gift shop, lunch)

Insightful and interesting
Osaye_I, Mar 2023
It was an immersive experience into Mexican history and culture. The guides (Roberto, liliana, and Edwin) were very knowledgeable and helpful. The people on the tour were amazing. I made some new friends and had an absolutely great time. If you’re in Mexico, don’t leave without trying this tour. The Theotihucan was magnificent, the basilica was surreal and tlatelolco was definitely worth the trip

Brighid_W, Mar 2023
The tour guides were organized, and very knowledgeable. They were timely and the drive was pretty easy. We made it to the locations without any difficulty and after some information on the history we were given time to explore and take pictures. Overall we had a great day and I would recommend this for anyone coming to Mexico City!

Gerson is an outstanding guide and energetically shares his passion for culture
Nomar_R, Mar 2023
Teotihaucan is an unbelievable experience for its size and history. We had to walk at a very fast pace to see the the three most significant temples in the allotted time, but it was very worth it. Halfway between the "sun" and the "moon" temple watch for a corrugated awning - it protects the only remaining area with the original paint. Do not go here without a full bottle of water - available for purchase at parking lot. Tlatelolco has such historical significance - building the first church from the temple stones, there they are, side by side. Gerson is an archeologist with a flair for history and the with-it-ness of your favourite teacher. Really an asset to the tour. The artisan stop, restaurant and tequila taste are criticized by other participants, however, I found them to be local businesses that work hard in a niche sharing culture at the human level. The insights into indigenous use of obsidian, and how the drinks were developed adds a something to the overall experience. Guadeloupe is very interesting for its design (the modern church) and the art in the shrine at the top of the hill. Try to walk into the older cathedral just across from the new one even for a moment to feel how uneven the floor is. Good value for money on this tour. Kudos to the team (guides and driver) who, finding themselves hopelessly stuck in Mexico City traffic improvised a drop-off on the other side of the park and saved us all hours on the bus! Very professionally managed and made safe by the guides carefully ferrying participants through the bike lanes.
Great tour, Be wary of food, and bring water
Gyanesh_M, Mar 2023
The tour itself was fantastic and we felt we saw a lot for the price we paid. Unfortunatley we both got mild food poisoning which we believe came from the restaurant we stopped at for lunch. Would advise bringing lots of water on a hot day since none will be provided. Our tour guide Andres was funny and knowledgeable. Thanks Andres!
Response from Host, Mar 2023
Dear Gyanesh_M, we are very happy to know you had a nice time touring with us, so sorry to hear about the food poisoning, we will review this information with the restaurant manager, thank you for letting us know, hope you get better! Ivana, Amigo Tours

Well organized tour!
liutjennifer, Mar 2023
This was a good tour that covered a lot of ground in 1 day: Teotihuacan pyramids, a tequila and mezcal tasting, and Guadalupe Shrine. Heads up that the Tlatelolco portion is very brief (< 5 mins) as the bus drives past the area with some commentary in the bus. There was more than sufficient time to explore the landmarks on our own and purchases souvenirs if we wanted. Our tour guides, Edwin and Media, were very knowledgable, and our driver, Jose, made for a smooth journey.

Pyramids were the highlight
Stephanie_B, Mar 2023
The guide was really nice, attentive to the large group and passionate about her job. The best part was the pyramids and temples at the end. The tequila tasting was nice & educational, small portions so nobody would get tipsy. Fun to try new types with our animated host. The only downside was the large group size, filling an entire bus & some encouraged shopping time before lunch. The convenience of the organized transport was great.
Response from Host, Mar 2023

Such a fun time! Roberto...
Isabella_H, Mar 2023
Such a fun time! Roberto is incredibly knowledgeable and we learned a ton. The only part I didn’t particularly enjoy was the lunch. There were limited vegetarian options (you could probably bring your own lunch). Regardless, I give the tour 5 stars. It was a blast and well organized.
Response from Host, Mar 2023

Mayan Cement for Food and Wasted Time
Rachel_L, Mar 2023
t’s too bad that Amigo Tours has a monopoly on this as it could be a lot better. The price is right which is a selling point. It is true they don’t allow you enough time at Teotihuacán, needs an extra 1/2 hour as it covers a lot of ground to walk. I don’t drink and the mandatory tequila tasting was offensive and took up too much time. The tequila lady was making numerous personal crude sexual jokes around it that surprised and did not sound normal from a foreign tongue. Then, it is true that they try to sell you things, feel this blanket? Asked all around. That is when I turned and left for the restaurant of respite which had one redeeming factor, the entertainment a Mayan dancer and singer. Here’s the part I’m still thinking about. The food was so bad I’m still on it many hours later. Also it lasted very long at an hour and a half for the unpleasant time waster even though the guide said it would be an hour. I never had Mexican food this bad before and didn’t know it existed. It tasted like a combination of play-doh, Mayan cement, and old persons pre-gummed oatmeal. I have an urge to throw up hours later which almost ruined my pyramid viewing experience I felt so sick after the food. It also looked strange. How can you ruin queso fundido and soup but they win the prize to prove it is possible. The ‘cheese’ was tasteless and basking in old looking milk water. The soup was soaking in pork rinds with no taste or an unpalatable one. It was so bad I would have never paid for it - I would have walked out after two bites. But I was under group pressure. This caused me to feel angry I did not rent a car to see it alone. They should have cut out the “meal” and the tequila tasting to allow more time. It appears to be enough time which fools, once you see it’s expansiveness you’ll know why. It takes 45 minutes to walk quickly from one pyramid to the other, allow time to climb this one, and 30 minutes to walk back to the bus. They allowed 2 hours from 3-5 at closing. There’s no excuse for this kind of forced lunch experiment taking up so much time. Next, they had me racing in a taxi over 30 minutes to get to the cafe late when my hotel was near the ambiguous 2nd pickup spot at the palace of fine arts. This should have been made far clearer. Where to pickup there when it is so large and what 2nd stop meant. Also that pickup spot ended up being very late. Also, I couldn’t understand what the guide was saying with her accent and the first church stop was excruciatingly boring as she held up a simple map and explained something for a long duration. I don’t think anybody truly wants this kind of tedious lecture without warning. This should have also been eliminated. It left not enough time to take pics. Did I say I’m still thinking about the worst Mexican food I ever had, no contest hands down? Mayan cement in fundido places and a lasting queasy feeling. The next day, I found I had a cold with a bloody nose from the germs in their food as the only thing I ate. Overall, what can you expect for $40 it’s a nice long tour and got back about 6pm. I would avoid the astonishingly bad food not included and the lecture, just walk away and do your own thing. But be prepared to spend some time there you might not want to do. If I could do it all over again, I would try a tour less saturated, where every seat on the large bus was full, due to its weaknesses.
