What To Expect

Head to Mexico City’s most visited museum, the National Museum of Anthropology, also part of Chapultepec Park. Follow your guide on a tour of some of the most impressive pre-Columbian and Mexican artifacts, including Olmec carved heads and the Aztec Stone of the Sun.

Then, experience one of Mexico City's most visited sites—Chapultepec Castle. Climb up a hill with your guide and reach the 18th-century castle.

Chapultepec started as a retreat for Aztec rulers before it was partially torn down and rebuilt into the palace of Emperor Maximilian of Habsburg. It then turned into the residence for Mexico’s presidents before most of the castle was converted into the National History Museum.

Follow your guide along marble staircases, peer into royal apartments, and admire the state carriages of Emperor Maximilian and Benito Juárez. Pass murals of battles painted by famous artists, including José Clemente Orozco and John O'Gorman, as well as the sword wielded by independence fighter José María Morelos.

As you explore the 12 halls, learn about the country’s history, from the pre-Columbian period through Spanish colonialism, to Mexico’s revolution and its independence.

Your tour ends in the afternoon so you have the rest of your day to enjoy at your leisure.

Fun experience, learned so much!
Maria_P, Sept 2023
Roberto was so nice and knowledgeable. Our tour started at the Archeology Museum, where we learned about the Aztec history of the area. Our group separated for lunch, then we walked through the beautiful Chapultepec Park to the castle. We learned abt the history of the castle and got to tour the site. We were also able to return back to the Archeology museum after the tour to explore more areas that we werent able to on the tour. Definitely a must do in CDMX

This made our experience so much more enjoyable. Our tour was in Spanish and I’m glad I chose this option. Ask for Salvador by name he is very personable! Wear comfortable shoes.

Can do without a tour
Annie_S, July 2023
In retrospect I would not have booked this tour and rather explored the museum on my own. The guide was knowledgeable but spoke a lot which meant we only got to see 3 of the halls.
Response from Host, July 2023
Dear Annie_S We are sorry that the experience was not to your liking, the tour guide tries to explain as much as he can and to provide all the details regarding hte museum. Thanks for letting us know your opinion, we will considerate it to improve our services. Mariana, Amigo tours

Comprehensive journey through the many Mexican civilizations with some incredible works of art
Martin_B, June 2023
Super guided tour by Jaime that provided the story behind the Mexican civilization from pre-classical times to the Aztecs (in the Museum of Anthropology) to the modern era (in the castle). It’s a lot to take in on one tour so I’d recommend breaking into two parts. Fantastic exhibits at the museum and the castle.
Response from Host, June 2023
Dear Martin_B Thank you very much for sharing your opinion with us, the entire Amigo tours team is happy to know how much you enjoyed the experience. We hope to have the opportunity to see you again! Mariana, Amigo tours

The tour was from 9am to about 1:30pm. You can explore the castle afterwards on your own time. The tour is mostly indoors so that was nice. No backpacks are allowed in either facility. Guided history of the original peoples
beth, June 2023
The tour started before 9 am and went until 1:30 so it’s a long day. Christian was knowledgeable and showed us the most important parts of the Anthropology museum and the castle. It was cool that the museum had the original sun dial from the Teotihuacan pyramids but most other pieces were representations. There is a lot to see and a lot of standing and walking. We had a 15 minute break between the museum and castle to grab a quick drink of water but were hungry and tired after the tour so fuel up before heading out.
Response from Host, June 2023
Dear beth It is a pleasure for the whole team to know how satisfactory this experience was for you. Thank you for giving us your trust, we deeply appreciate it. Mariana, Amigo tours
