What To Expect

This full-day sightseeing adventure to the Laurentian Mountains begins with a morning hotel pickup in downtown Montreal, followed by a 2-hour drive.

The Laurentian Mountains are one of Montreal’s favorite getaway spots. This mountain range in southern Quebec sits to the north of the Saint Lawrence and Ottawa Rivers and its highest point is 1,166 meters at Mont Raoul Blanchard.

The first stop is the ski village of Saint-Sauveur. Spend an hour exploring Principale Street, lined with a variety of boutiques featuring clothing, jewelry, gifts, souvenirs and several art galleries. There’s also a restaurant for every taste and mood.

Then it’s off to Saint-Adolphe-d'Howard, about 20 minutes away, for a brief photo stop of Lac Joseph before continuing another 30 minutes to the village of Saint-Agathe-des-Monts.

Finally, it’s off to Mont-Tremblant for approximately three hours of free time to eat, shop and walk around the village. This small town is home to the top ski resort in eastern North America. Spend time exploring the many activities and attractions. No matter the time of year, there’s always something happening. And there are a seemingly endless number of restaurants, bars, cafes and shops to visit. Enjoy a French-style lunch with a glass of wine. Ride a gondola to the top of Mont Tremblant. There are so many possibilities.

At the end of the day, make the two-hour drive back to Montreal for a hotel drop-off.

Also driver needs to make sure on drop off that they have the correct hotel since there were two in the area that were Best Western but 30 minutes walking between the two.

I highly recommend this trip, though I know it is in large part due to the skills of our particular tour leader and bus driver.

I would have liked half hour more in Mont Treblant as by the time you walked down the path back to the bus we didnt eat in at any of the restaurants because of the queques.

Never picked up. At the very bottom of the booking confirmation it says to call 24 hours to confirm hotel pickup. We booked within 24 hours & did not see this. Gray Line did NOT reach out to us. VERY FRUSTRATING! We rented a car & took ourselves there.

Great day trip that was relaxing and driver Serge was very informative about the areas as we drove through. The weather was cooperating well so we got amazing photos as well. Getting to the top of Mont Tremblant via gondola is worth it for $32 for the crisp fresh air and views of the mountain range.

Poor tour operator Gray Line.

Despite verifying with gray line a hotel pick up time and waiting for one and a half hours outside. They never arrived for pick up. No one replied to chat, no one answered the calls that I and Viator made to them, very disappointed. However Viator responded quickly and dealt with the situation professionally. Many thanks Viator.

Most memorable part were the lakes, the lovely quintessential villages and definitely MONT TREMBLANT! We visited in summer and Mont Tremblant was full of life! Lots to eat! Take the free cable car ride down to a casino/resort and also the free cabriolet rides up and down the village (tram/cable 1-2mins thereabouts per way).

Nice time. Nice great out of the city. Was not completely happy with the bus shuttle service back to the hotel. I was a lift-off a mile away from my hotel. It was closer just, walking from the bus depot.

Told us 720 pick up outside hotel. We waited an hour and ten minutes for pick up. Couldn’t get thru on the phone. I then had a response email and was told we would be collected in 5 mins. 20 minutes later A mini bus was then sent to collect us and drop us off at the main square. We were then made to feel it was our fault for being late and although we had the tickets on our phone, comments were made about us not having them printed and to get in the bus so not to waste more time. Initially we couldn’t sit beside each other as we were the last on. If we had known we could have got on at the square we would have walked. Likewise, we could have been contacted by phone to explain. The first stop was excellent. Food at the market was local and delicious. Stop time about right. Perhaps we could have been told to buy lunch here. Second stop - we had 1h 45, having been told there would be 50 restaurants for lunch. When we arrived at 1100 most where either closed for the season or closed because it was not lunch time. We were instead signposted to the local supermarket and Told we could eat outside. Given this trip runs daily this felt bad organisation. The town we stopped in for 1h 45 was unimpressive. Next we were told we would have 3 hours at the mountains. We only had 2 hours. However lots of things were closed. This should be advertised that things may be closed if not season. 2 hours felt rushed to get to the top, take in the view and return to the bottom. However - we did enjoy getting out of the city and would not have been able to do this trip without the tour as we did not have a car.

Great and easy process to book, offered hotel pick up (just get down to the lobby earlier than 7:30am to make sure you don't miss it). Beautiful time of year to visit, amazing scenery/colours. Guide was very helpful and informative, plenty of time to stop and take pictures at each place. Would recommend this day trip if you're staying in Montreal.

This is an excellent tour if you’re interested in getting out of busy city of Montreal and see the country side, especially during the fall season. The tour gives you ample time for various stops for breaks and sightseeing. Our tour guide was exceptional in letting us know what’s coming ahead. Highly recommended this tour.

The driver didn't turn up to pick us up so we sadly missed out trip. When we contacted grey line they were quite rude to us saying it was our fault we missed the bus (they didn't give us the correct pick-up time and didn't answer any of our calls). When we called for a refund they impolitely told us if we weren't happy we should have just gone and rented a car ourselves..... We didn't get out money back so I would definitely not recommend this particular trip!!!

Laurentien Mountains Day Trip Review

I have this trip four stars because the places we visited were incredible - the quaint mountain towns, the lake and mountain views, and the most beautiful gondola ride to the top of Mount Tremblant. I did not give five stars because the amount of time given at each stop did not match the itinerary provided, and we barely had enough time at each stop to take in the beauty. We were only given 10 minutes at Lac St-Joseph, 15 minutes at St-Agathe-des-Monts, and 2 hours at Mount-Tremblant (which is not enough time to get the to peak and back given the long lines, so everyone in our group was either late returning or did not get to see the summit). I put these here so you can adjust your expectations, but I do still recommend the tour due to the amazing locations visited.
