Our guide brought to life the story of Jewish life and the interaction with different communities. Excellent interesting and informative. One note. It was beastly hot. Need to walk on shady side of the street

Trip to Montreal

Our tour was led by Cassandra and the group was small with 8 people. We learned about Jewish immigrants from Eastern Europe who fled the pogroms and settled around Boulevard Saint Laurent. Schwartz's Deli and Main are nearby. We arrived at 1:30 and were seated at 2:00 and finished in time for the 3:00 tour.
Superb!

Informative tour
David_G, July 2019
The guide, Ben, was personable and well informed. We did a lot of walking in the vicinity, learned of the original purposes of various buildings, and picked up a lot of local Jewish history along the way. A good way to spend a couple of hours. We recommend going into Fletcher's Cafe, the meeting place, having a St. Viateur bagel, browsing the books and exhibit, and chatting with the young folks who work there.
Montreal Jewish History Walk
susan d, Sept 2018
We went to meet at the Jewish Museum which is nothing but a storefront without anything Jewish on display, only things to purchase. Our guide was a young woman who had a spiral notebook with pictures to display.. We walked in pouring rain and saw old buildings from the outside. The guide told us what the buildings used to be when the Jewish population lived in that part of Montreal. It was a waste of time and money.
Interesting tour
Fran_K, Aug 2018
Our guide was a young student-Ben. Gave an very good, informative, interesting history of this part of the city as it was when it was the Jewish Quarter. The history of the different ethnic groups of Jews who lived here was very interesting. Well worth the hour and one-half walk.

We enjoyed this tour. It's actually a 2 hour tour- not 1 as advertised. Our tour guide josh was very informative. The down side is that the area is now run down and quite dirty which was upsetting to see.

After reading about the strong Jewish community in Montreal we wanted to see where it all began. Well, Josh, our guide did not leave a stone untouched. He was a wealth of information and presented it in a conversational manner telling the story of how it began up from where it is now. We walked at a leisurely pace which made it very doable. Told my friends about it when we returned home and peaked their interest.
