Great experience, they drive you up a majority of the way and then you have like 3 hours on your own to hike, there are shops along the way where you can stop and get a drink food or souvenirs. You hike about 2 miles total round trip, it is uphill the entire time.

Excellent driver, great value and fantastic service. Left at Vesuvius to make it to the top at your own pace and you can pick up a free guide at the top if you want so no need to book on a more expensive tour with private guide. One word of warning if you only book the 1/2 day Vesuvius trip, there may be others on your trip that are going to Pompeii afterwards so this adds an extra 30mins on your trip as they get dropped off at Pompeii before you get dropped off back at Naples. This was not a problem for us and we were back at our drop off point in Naples just after 1pm but it may be something to consider if running a tight schedule. All in all this was a great tour and I would reccomend highly.

Disappointing, shortened tour and no guide provide

A very interesting site to visit. Disappointed that tour indicated we would have a guide ( and included in fee) however no guide provided. Time cut short by one hour so fairly rushed visit. Was advised due to participants arriving late tour shortened, however left at 9.30 as advertised and arrived back at 12.30 for a 4 hour tour

Very poor value for money. Was taken to the crater and that's it. Didn't see a volcano. Would not recommend. However the driver was very nice and timely. PS there are no toilets around.

It was very well organized. Bruno took us from the meeting point. Unfortunately we were forced to wait for two ladies that delayed the beginning of the trip. However the weather was nice and we enjoyed the hike to Vesuvius very much. There was no guide waiting for our group at the crater. At the end we took a break with amazing wine that was cultivated in lava and a huge group stopped next to us and we heard interesting facts from their guide about Vesuvius. We recorded the trip as the group is not large and you are not forced to be together all the time. You can enjoy the views and experience by yourselves. My recommendation is not to the travel agency it is to the people that are booking the trip. Please be on time! Respect others time and what they are paying for! No one is going to wait for you forever, because you cannot calculate your time properly! :)

Weather was overcast. We go to entrance only to be told park was closed. Driver had no idea and tour operator should have made driver aware. Wasted 2 hours which was unfortunate and only reimbursed for entrance fee to park vs tour which not fair

The Vesuvius is a must go when in Naples and region. The alpine guide in the summit is an expert about the volcano, but you don’t have a long time to be at there (like 2 hours, including the time that you spent to go up and down)

This is worst run tour I have ever had the unfortunate experience of partaking in with Viator. Sparing the unnecessary details, it is very poorly organized and my best advice is to never book this tour. We never even saw Mt. Vesuvius. It would be a complete waste of your money.

Unsafe driver

The driver did not make me feel very safe in his van. His driving seemed very aggressive, passing busses on narrow mountain roads and not obeying posted speed limits. He backed into a parked car and didn’t even stop to look if he had done any damage. The tour itself was all on your own. There were guides at the top of the volcano but they had nothing to do with the tour. This tour basically provides you with a ticket into the national park and a ride. It was fine but not spectacular.

Bus air conditioning didnt work. This would be easy to do on own without an agent. Its basically paying a 200% premium for a bus ticket and park access. The hike only takes about 75 minutes so afterwards you are stuck waiting 90 minutes for the return bus

The sight itself is worth the visit and climb. Beautiful views! The drive there was a terrible experience. I was sqeezed in the front seat with another customer. I had no foot space at all so my feet ached even before reaching the site. The driver was also very grumpy and didn’t seem motivated. He kept fiddling with his phone.. Recommed to use another service provider!

We booked this tour two months prior to the tour date. The day before the tour the local operator notified us that the time changed from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm which we could not do. I requested a refund and the tour operator claimed they notified us two days prior, which they never did. Viator was our go-to for tours, as we travel extensively. This was the first time we had such a poor experience.

Caution, find a different tour operator.

The vendor changed the departure time and meeting point the day before. All he did was drive us to and from Vesuvius and provided entrance tickets. There was no National park guide to meet us as was advertised. We could have done this tour with a taxi driver and saved money.

Bus pick up on time, no AC, driving thru Naples in a circle for another hour, so hot in the bus. Then changing the boys to a bigger one. No AC. Vesuv us interesting but a too hot bus transfer with delays.
