What To Expect

Experience the multicultural flavor of the West Village on this afternoon walking tour. Make your way to Bleecker Street on the west side of Manhattan’s famed Greenwich Village neighborhood to meet up with your guide, a passionate local foodie. Feel the energetic hum of the area, which is home to an eclectic mix of restaurants, cafés, shops, and music venues.

Stop in at six renowned local eateries to sample their finest fare, including Hudson Bagels and Mauman’s Falafel — the city’s oldest falafel joint. Get a taste of New York’s Italian heritage with cheesy pizza, housemade salami at Faicco's Italian Specialties, and creamy cannoli at Pasticceria Bruno, which was a champion on Food Network Challenge: Sugar Adventures. Combined, the tastings make up a satisfying sampler lunch.

As you make your way from stop to stop, learn the bohemian history of this unique neighborhood that was once home to musicians including Bob Dylan, Lou Reed, and Jimi Hendrix, and Beat writers Allen Ginsberg and Jack Kerouac. Your guide will point out their former homes and hangouts, as well as the apartment of fictional chef Monica from Friends. After walking around 2.5 miles (4 km), say farewell to your group and your guide at La Guardia Place near the original departure point.

First let me say that we were the only 2 on tour, being that it was a few days after New Year’s Day may have had something to do with it. Not complaining as our guide Jonathan was awesome (thank you J from K and B the 2 peeps who shared our snacks). Thank you Jonathan bridgette and I enjoyed the Jonathan experience!!! The best part of the tour was meeting Greg at bleeker street pizza, followed closely by his awesome slice of pizza (Nona maria grandma pizza) crispy crust and very tasty. Greg, thank you so much for being so kind to us. We really appreciated it and will come see you next time in New York if we’re here on a Friday.

We did the NY W Village Food Tour on December 2nd which happened to be my birthday. Our tour guide Jonathan did an outstanding job educating us on the history of the area and notable events that took place in the WV. Jonathan’s knowledge of the area was extensive and he was able to answer all of our questions with ease. Our tasting samples included pizza, rice balls, Thai dumplings, and falafel, and we finished up with gourmet cupcakes. I would be hard-pressed to identify a favorite because everything we tasted was excellent! The portions were small and we didn’t feel stuffed at the end of the tour. Our tour started at 11:00am and ended at 2:00 which gave us plenty of time to work up an appetite for a 7:00pm dinner. There’s always more to learn about the history of NYC and how neighborhoods evolved and transformed over the years and Jonathan did not disappoint! If you have an opportunity to do a Viator tour I’d say “do it”! And maybe you’ll be lucky to have Jonathan as your tour guide-you won’t regret it!

We loved this tour! We were so lucky to have Adam as our guide! He was energetic, fun to listen to and full of knowledge. We loved the small little deli’s, pizza and Thai places with wonderful samples at each stop. The finale of the trip ended at Molly’s cupcakes! Adam also took us through some of the smaller streets in the village. He described architecture, history of some of the buildings, and examples of people who lived in that area at one time. This is the perfect tour to get a sampling of all of New York’s finest delicacies! Again, we highly recommend Adam as a guide. His endless knowledge and energy made this tour even more enjoyable!

Russell was incredibly informative and full of knowledge about this area of town.
