What To Expect

This full-day tour from New York City features a stop in one of America’s most popular and important cities—Philadelphia—plus time in the quiet Amish town of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Transportation in a luxury coach or van begins at Grand Central Station in New York City.

It’s a little less than two hours to Philadelphia, where the first half of the tour features a drive along Benjamin Franklin Parkway and Elfreth’s Alley, America's oldest continuously inhabited residential street. Spend some time exploring the city’s historical attractions, like the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, the Betsy Ross House, the Constitution Center, City Hall, the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s famed “Rocky Steps,” and more.

In the afternoon, leave the hustle of city life for the quiet surroundings of Amish country in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. See how the Amish live and take a ride in a horse-drawn buggy. Browse handmade arts, crafts and other products; and experience the simpler life of the Amish people.

The tour concludes with a return trip to Grand Central Station in New York City.

A wonderful day in Pennsylvania

I did five tours in NY and hands down this was the best one. The Philadelphia and Amish events were more than I had expected. The congress and senate house were very good and the park Rangers were well informed. There was some time to eat and shop while in Philly so that was good. In Amish country we rode in a horse and carriage to a family farm which was a special treat. Also had time to shop and eat again during the Amish leg. Got back to NY at 7pm to do evening activities if you had plans. It was an excellent tour.

Running up the Rocky steps . Riding in the Amish buggy . Unfortunately the coach was freezing cold and our guide concentrated mostly on the Italian passengers and then slept a lot . We did our own thing and thoroughly enjoyed Pennsylvania !!

I enjoyed seeing the countryside in the Amish county. The farm tour was very ordinary. Was surprised at how unkept the barn pens and animals were. Would have like to seen some machinery in action. Or inside house. I'm from a rural background so that was something I was interested too see. The Kettle Village shopping area was good, but a lot of international goods/items on sale and very expensive. Shouldnt have been sold as "locally made" ? But the actuall handmade local items were fantastic and fair prices. Food was great. In the time given the essentials historical places in Philidelphia were great to visit. Our Tourguide was great.

Visiting the halls of congress. Learning about the history of this great country and it's fonding fathers. The Amish visit was like being in paradise. Our tour guide Joseph was wonderful. Very polite, informative and friendly. Our driver Enrique got us safely through a very challenging rain event. This trip was one of the best I've ever taken.

Great way to see Philadelphia in a day!

Great day and a great way to see Philadelphia in a day. We saw all the key sites without feeling rushed, and we loved the Amish experience at the end and the visit to the small shopping village. Our only criticism would be that the audio was not great on the sprinter van - our tour guide had a headset on and was giving a talk around the history of Philadelphia on our way to the first stop-off, but the van was very loud and his headset didn’t project his voice very strongly. We, along with a few other visitors, fed back a few times that we were struggling to hear but it couldn’t be improved. Additionally it was a multi-lingual tour so our guide was giving the talk in English and Italian, but then a second guide was sat behind us talking to some visitors in French. My mother is hard of hearing and with all the background noise in a small van we struggled to hear and missed most of the history talk. The guide made up for it by giving excellent tours in person once off the bus, but I think the day could have been improved with either a larger bus and better audio, or the tours being separated out for the various languages. But overall a very good day!

I had been looking forward to the trip for a while, but was very disappointed when a little van pulled up with no bathroom. It was a 12-hour, day trip, and they didn't think we would need to use the bathroom? We left from the Port Authority at about 6:30 and got to Philadelphia around 9:00 or 9:30. When we arrived I asked the guide where the public rest area is and was told we wouldn't be there for another half hour. He proceded to give a tour of the historic area, but I couldn't concentrate at all because I really had to go. Fortunately, while he was giving the history of Betsy Ross's house, I saw a Starbucks across the street and made a beeline.--- After that, I enjoyed the historic sights and Amish Country, but I wouldn't book another one of these tours. They should have informed us before hand of the no-bathroom situation, so we could have made other arrangements.

Hello Debora! Thank you for your review. All of out tours have guaranteed departures and the vehicles that we use on our tours depend on the amount of passengers we have booked for that trip. We use either a Mercedes Sprinter, minibus or a big bus. Unfortunately, smaller vehicles don't have bathrooms. We make stops every 2 hours for bathroom breaks.
