Excellent tour of the Newport area narrated by a wonderful local named Ray. Not a memorized speech, but a truly interesting narrative of the area and it’s history. Marble House was interesting and worth the effort. Seats on the bus are a little uncomfortable but it’s only for a short time.

Joe did a great job giving the history of the area, combined with good jokes!! Great tour-although description on Viator should read 3 hour tour so you can plan accordingly. Joe’s part was 90 minutes, but walking through a home is another 1.5.

Entertaining and Informative Overview of Wonderful Newport

Taking a guided tour is always an excellent way to get an overview of a place. This tour in particular was lively and fun, thanks much in part to our Guide & Driver. He provided juicy tidbits of history, insights into the locals of today and and made recommendations for places to be revisited in the future. The wooden trolley seats are not as comfortable as motorcoach seats, but the trolley is more nimble on the narrow streets and can stop faster and more conveniently - so that's the tradeoff. The Mansion tour aspect of the ticket was a little confusing because while I had purchased tickets for Marble House, I had to mention that specifically to the driver, as he assumed we were going to visit The Breakers. The process of getting off the trolley then meeting back up after we visited Marble House was simple enough - and the time allocated was adequate, but just offering in this review that not necessarily everyone on the trolley will be headed to the same mansion tour. Likewise, less mobile tourists should be aware of the stairs on the trolley and if they have issues with climbing or descending stairs there is no accommodation; the driver was very conscientious however, and assisted a guest with getting her (and her walker) on and off the trolley a couple of times.

The trip was fantastic our driver was great. We loved visiting the marble mansion. Our only complaint is that when booking it it said wheelchair accessible but the trolly we took wasn’t. Make sure to make it clear in the notes that you must check it off if you need it accessible. I never saw that note. All and all it was a wonderful experience and the driver did accommodate us.

We understand and we’re glad that Joe was able to help the other day. We always try and recommend that passengers who need the ADA lift call our Newport office. This way we can make sure that an ADA Trolley is scheduled. We recommend that people try and contact us 48 hours in advance. Glad you enjoyed the tour!

The tour and the customer service were really exceptional. Our guide Dan was a local, retired teacher who has lived in Newport all his life. He was a delightful narrator and was very kind and helpful with my mobility needs. Acessibility: be sure to contact the local provider to arrange getting an accessible trolley. I use a mobility scooter. I would suggest using a regular seat after getting your scooter on to the trolley otherwise your view is blocked by the grate of the lift. Touring the Breakers was tricky in some spots upstairs but the staff made sure I saw everything. That elevator was small and the staff didn't give up until my scooter was in that elevator. Kudos to the staff at the Breskers.
