Tom was a great guide. The fish taco was delicious! The stop at the gates of one of the mansions was nice, but it entailed a little too much walking. Maybe eliminate this stop.

Enjoyable but not authentic Newport food

We appreciated our friendly tour guide Tom who gave us some nice local history. The food we had was tasty but we were hoping for more authentic Newport food featuring seafood, etc. The restaurants we went to were more of the touristy type. You can get a hamburger anywhere and that was our first stop ( although it was delicious). The fish taco was tasty but probably frozen mahi mahi that was deep fried, not the fresh fish one could certainly get in Newport. This tour was more budget friendly so maybe this was the food that met the budget. We did walk about 2 1/2 miles which was great considering the amount of food we ate.

Regarding your review, we would like you to know that the restaurants on our tour are the best, off the beaten path, Newport. The only seafood offered is the mahi mahi as it is a very mild fish and too many people are allergic to shell fish, which of course, we have to be very dilligent about. The mahi mahi is fresh daily, you may have noticed how smail this restaurant is, nothing is frozen, everything is brought in fresh every day. The burger is a great new stop and so very popular, we are so lucky to have them on our tour.

Tom, our Tour Guide, was extremely knowledgeable & delivered the information in an interesting/fun manor. Food choices were “very delicious”, especially the Italian Restaurant. Would have been better to have a small (1/2 size cocktail/beer/wine) paired with each food tasting (+ water)….better than a beverage “on your own” at the end. This didn’t keep the group together until the conclusion of the tour. If possible…. In the very warm weather, have the food tastings indoors to allow participants to “cool off” before the next destination. Tour Guide should look back, a bit more, to assess that “the group” is all in close proximity. However, KUDOS to our guide for his ability to keep the group on time in an energetic manner.

We have been to Newport many many times. Went to several mansions, Hammersmith Farm, tons of restaurants,etc. We were looking for something different. We had the best time. Tom our tour guide was amazing. He was so knowledgeable and made all the history Info so interesting. And we has a really nice group in our tour. And the best part was the great food we ate !!

Amazing food and history

Susan was amazing, we got to learn a lot about the history of Newport. Eat at local hot spots and a brief tour of one of the mansions. The food was amazing and a nice size portion. My favorite food spot was the Italian restaurant Vieste. They have great a story to tell about how the restaurant first started and great food. I think everyone should try the food tour, I’m sure you will have an amazing tour.

This was one of the best food tours I have been on! Susan was great and very informative about the history of the area and the local food scene. The food was fantastic from local establishments that we wouldn’t have found on our own. We had full portions, not just samples of the food at each stop, with a nice variety.
