What To Expect

Select a convenient departure time when booking, and begin your tour at Rainbow Helicopters located in Honolulu International Airport.

Climb aboard your helicopter and enjoy your pre-selected choice of a “doors on” or “doors off” flight as you take off above this tropical Hawaiian island. Cruise above some of Oahu’s most famous landmarks, starting with a bird’s eye view of the Honolulu Harbor and a flight over the island’s south shore.

You’ll then zoom above the famous Diamond Head crater before proceeding above the clear waters of Manalua Bay and the vibrant reefs of Hanauma Bay on Oahu’s eastern shore. From there you’ll pass near the tiny lighthouse above the cliffs of Makapu’u and then trace the Ko’olau Mountains heading toward Lanikai Beach and the “Chinamans’ Hat.” Continuing your scenic ride, travel up into Ka'a'awa Valley and get a panoramic look at Sacred Falls, Oahu’s tallest waterfall.

Finish up your breathtaking helicopter experience by cruise over to the iconic Pearl Harbor site, where you’ll get an up-close look at the iconic USS Arizona Memorial before heading back to the airport.

Diamond Head State Monument (Pass By)

A slow loop above mighty Diamond Head lets you peer directly into one of Oahu's most famous landmarks.

Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve (Pass By)

You continue over crystal clear Maunalua Bay and head towards the island’s rugged eastern shores and Hanauma Bay’s spectacular reefs.

  • Safety of flight is our primary concern. The operator reserves the right to refuse service to passengers who are intoxicated or appear to be intoxicated. Intoxicated passengers will not fly and they will be charged in full.
  • For doors off tours, jackets and/or sweatshirts, closed toe shoes, and hair ties are required. Long pants are recommended.
  • When booking the doors off experience, your seat may or may not be directly adjacent to an open door.
  • Only passengers weighing 80 lbs or more may fly with the door off in our Robinson R44 helicopter. Only passengers weighing 100 lbs or more may fly with the door off in our Airbus Astar helicopter.
  • All passengers 24 months and older must purchase a full fare seat.
  • For each guest weighing 260 pounds or more, a weight and balance fee is required to safely balance the aircraft. For guests weighing between 260-279 lbs, a fee in the amount of 50% of the seat price will be assessed after booking. For guests weighing 280 lbs or higher, an additional seat purchase will be assessed after booking.

Cancellation Policy

You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.

  • For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
  • If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
  • Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
  • Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
  • This experience requires good weather. If it’s cancelled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.

This was by far the best activity my friend and I did in Hawaii. It was somewhat of a last minute decision but the BEST decision. The views were incredible!! We felt very safe even with the doors off and had a great time with our pilot, Paul. Highly recommend!! It's a must-do for anyone who visits

Great tour with Joey. It was my birthday so my wife and I booked this tour with family. I highly recommend this tour with Rainbow helicopters. Everyone there was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. The sights were incredible. Pearl Harbor, Dole pineapple plantation, Diamond Head ect. We were truly impressed.

We had a wonderful flight with the doors off helicopter tour of the island. Each and everyone we encountered was helpful and positive. Our pilot Tobias was very professional but also personable & pleasant. Tobias was very informative and made sure we were aware of what we were flying over and would circle around to make sure each of us were able to see the best sights. We all felt safe and enjoyed every minute of our tour. We highly recommend the doors off if you plan to go up! This is a top notch operation!

Awesome experience with doors off! What away to celebrate 25 years of being together. Wife was a little scared at first but Jojo was an excellent pilot and was able to make her feel at ease. He also would warn us if he thought we would be hitting a little turbulence. Great customer service all the way around At Rainbow helicopter tours. Great job guy’s!

I booked as a surprise for my husband’s birthday which is also Valentine’s day. The staff are all friendly and our pilot is really knowledgeable with the sites. I enjoyed the ride and how stable he was flying through the mountains. I also like that he tried to find whales for us too. Overall it was an amazing experience and the sights are spectacular. My husband and i enjoyed it so much

I really enjoyed this helicopter ride. We had doors off. A bit scary at first but felt better along the way. Very windy and cold. Somewhat hard to enjoy looking from both sides due to the wind. Not sure if this happens all the time but next ride I will keep doors on. I recommend this experience. Scenery is espectacular. My most memorable scenery? Seeing a whale family of 3!

Such an amazing experience. Our pilot was really nice and informational.. He went the extra mile to get us in close to the sacred waterfall so we could get amazing photos! We did the doors off tour and I can’t wait to do one again! I will say it’s super windy, so if you don’t like a ton of wind, do the doors on tour! This is a must do while in Hawaii 😀
