Good if you want the full cultural experience - but skip it if you only want the main event!

Firstly our guide was absolutely lovely. He was patient, kind and a wealth of information. The best part of the tour is El Tule and Hierve el Agua (for us anyway). We would have rather skipped the mezcal and wool making part (but someone people might really enjoy this). Unfortunately lunch was not great and we didn’t enjoy the restaurant. Personally I would recommend seeing the tree and waterfall on your own as you don’t need a guide for either BUT if you want to be more cultural then I recommend doing this tour as it packs a lot in and ticks a lot of boxes in that regard

The tour seemed pretty average to me, we made all the stops, but nothing about our guide and the information he gave to us wasn't truly exceptional. It was difficult to hear or understand him over the muffled microphone from the back of the bus, so we missed out on a lot of information. At the sites, we were left to explore on our own. I suppose I was hoping for a more engaging and personal experience, but the stop at Teotitlan was definitely a highlight.
Saw a lot in a day

It was a long day but we’ll worth the time. Very good tour and water at Hierve el Agua felt very good.
    Enjoyable day

Antonio was an incredibly knowledgable tour guide and made the day really interesting and enjoyable. He knew so much about all the sites and was happy to answer questions. The day ran smoothly.
    Beautiful sites

The organization is a bit funny. They were super clear on timing for pickup but then we drove around 30 minutes in the center picking others up to end up in a meeting point with other vans. 5/10 people in our van were on the wrong tour and got moved. This was a long seemingly unnecessary start to the day. The little stops are fun and not too long or too short however the guide really didn’t seem interested in the day or answering people’s questions. The guide also wasn’t in our van so presumably the van he was In got lots more Info than us. We thought it was smaller groups but our whole group was about 23 people so listening to the guide at Mitla was also tough. Hierve el agua is beautiful but do your research before as he gave us no info on what we were seeing
    Sight Seeing In Oaxaca Mexico!

I really enjoyed all of our stops. I never could have done this on my own. There is so much to see and our tour guides were wonderful. We were taken to a buffet for lunch the food was excellent! The only thing is be prepared for a long day .

Highlights for me were Teotiltlan and the petrified waterfalls - my husband really enjoyed being able swim in the pools.
    Mitla was our fav!

Really enjoyed Mitla, and hearing about all its history the tour guide is very knowledgeable and was very friendly
    Definitely worth doing!

Good tour, worth doing to see lots of the main attractions outside of Oaxaca. Cost was fairly reasonable given how much you see and the guide is quite good. I think we spent enough time in each place, so not too rushed. Only downside was that we were picked up first, very early, but then proceeded to go to a number of hotels to pick up others, all within a 10minute walk of each other, but this process took almost an hour (and the final stop was about 5 minutes walk from our pick up) which was a total waste of our time sat in a mini van.

A great way to see many sites outside of Oaxaca in one day! A long day but well spaced out, make sure to get your own snacks and water.
Make sure you sign up for this multi-stop day trip, you'll be glad you did!

Our first day trip outside Oaxaca was a highlight of our trip. The scenery was interesting and our guide was knowledgeable and fun. First stop, the tule tree, which doesn't sound like much but it was awesome. Next the natural rug dying and weaving at Teotitlan del Valle, loved seeing the historical process and the incredible results. Our next stop was to see the process of making mezcal and do some tasting, who knew there were so many kinds of mezcal. Our next stop was for a delicious, authentic Mexican lunch and then on the Hierve el Agua, our final destination. The pools were a beautiful turquoise color and the falls are "frozen" in place. The walk to the pools was steep and coming back was challenging but everyone in our group had a great time. This trip is a must!
    Worth it!

Knowledge, experience & informed explanations of our guide, Antonio was highly appreciated. The full day tour & experience was worth it.
5 must do things in Oaxaca in one fell swoop
    Kathleen_C, Dec 2022
Antonio our guide spoke English beautifully and was very informative. The trip was everything it said it would be. The waterfall- if you are up for a fairly strenuous hike - perhaps you should look at getting a local guide - we took a bunch of misguided detours and had to hustle. Food stop was great. Rugweaving stop very informative.
    Decent tour
    Zoe_J, Dec 2022
Personally enjoyed the Mezcal part the best. It is English and Spanish. Not just English. No running water at waterfall but still beautiful. Archaeologist cite was cool.

This tour was a very long day tour but each stop was interesting and flowed smoothly. A bit of difficulty getting everyone organized onto the correct buses at the start but once that was done we had no issues the rest of the day. The guide we had was very informative and his English was very good. He told most of his stories and information in both English and Spanish.
    worh it!

    Worth a visit

The overall experience was very good and well worth trip out of Oaxaca. It is a very long day with optional buffet lunch provided, this was the main disappointment of the tour as we would have preferred an a la carte style option too. Our group was split over 2 vehicles where the guide spent most of the time traveling with the other vehicle which meant we may have missed some of the explanations along the route.

    Blanca_M, Nov 2022
We were dropped off at Hierve el Agua to do what we wanted with our time. I was expecting our guide to provide us with some history or information about The place instead he he said we should have already read about it. There was not enough time to do the entire hike with the time given. I would have loved some time to explore and do some shopping in Mitla.
    Worth Seeing
    ROB, Nov 2022
The time allowed for the Tule tree was short, but you don’t need more than 15 min. It would have been better if the guide had escorted the group to show all the features. I guess he couldn’t because he didn’t have his pointer, so we walked around the tree and left. Mezcal tasting was nice, but could have been better. The old guy pouring samples seemed fixated on the girls, and was not very attentive to the rest of us. I get it, but not a great move in the tourism industry. The waterfalls is a must see. Probably needed an extra 15 min if you hike down to the base and back up. We were the only ones that did it, and we did not waste any time and barely made the hike with no time to spare. Still worth doing. I recommend it, since the main feature is the waterfalls.
The day trip out of Oaxaca

The entire tour going to see all 5 sites and lunch was well organised, informative and therefore thoroughly enjoyable. The tour guide spoke in English and was very knowledgeable.
