We pick up our guests at the dock of their hotel on the shores of the lake in Panajachel or Santa Catarina. If your hotel does not have a dock, the meeting point will be at the dock of Porta Hotel in Panajachel or Casa Palopo Hotel in Santa Catarina.

okay, not great.

We thought the tour was just okay. The chocolate and weaving visits were going to a store where the store clerks give demonstrations to everyone that walks in the door. The stores were filled with tourists. We felt pressure to tip or buy something at each stop. At lunch we were given no options, just a chicken leg in a broth with rice on the side. We had a beer and had to pay extra. We also were asked to pay for a taxi ride (tuk tuk) to one of the sites. At $100 pp, I didn't expect to pay for all the little extras.

Hello Madelyne, thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review about how you felt during your tour experience in Lake Atitlan. I am sorry to know it was not as enjoyable for you as it was planned. The reason why we visit the chocolate and waving stores is that those are small cooperatives of Mayan women, who work together for hours to make different pieces (clothing) and artisanal chocolate-based products. Mayan women create those establishments as a way to promote their hard work to the world, as there is no other way for them to sell their clothing or chocolate products and that they are paid fairly. Also, lunch is planned for you to try traditional Guatemalan food as part of the experience of visiting the Mayan towns around Lake Atitlan. However, the meal comes with a soda or a natural refreshment. If you wish to have a beer, cocktail, or any other drink that is not part of the dish, it is part of your personal expenses. And just to address each of your concerns, part of this tour is on foot, however, if you wish to get to the next location faster, or if you´re tired, or any other similar situation, you are given the option to pay for a taxi ride, at a personal expense. Once again, I am really sorry to know that you did not enjoy this experience as it was planned. We will make sure to take these points into consideration in the future, to keep improving and offering all our clients the best experience possible. If you give us a second chance in the future, we would love to offer you a discount on a city tour, or an Antigua tour, so you can have a better taste of the adventures we offer.
