It was definitely worth it to get a tour guide since there is so much to see.
If you are going to the Mona Lisa exhibit, be prepared for a long and pushy line.
We were, unfortunately, very limited in our time in Paris, so it was important to us to have a guide who could get us into the museum quickly and take us to see some of the pieces we considered highlights.

False advertising

DO NOT waste your time and money. The only positive aspect of the “tour” is that the guide walks with you for a bit over an hour and points to specific art and gives you information about it. There is dishonest and false advertising on the description of this tour. You have to purchase your museum ticket separately in advance. Then you do NOT skip the line to get in. You still have to stand in a long line for over 30-45 minutes, which counts against your tour time. Then, you only get the tour guide’s perspective about a select pieces of art. Overall, it may be better to use the audio recording and get a more detailed description of the art displayed at the museum.

We were late and our tour guide left saying she “was not a slave”. Victor refused to refund my $258 even though we had an hour left. I spoke with the guide and even offered to pay extra and explained we had more than half of the time left. She again said “I am no your slave”!!! How rude is that. Then I told all of this to the company and at first got a “form” email response to which I complained and then got another email, still saying after reviewing the situation they would not issue a refund. It’s not so much about the money but the attitude is simply rude/wrong. Worst experience I’ve had in a country/city that I love!!

Such a great experience at the Louvre! Anna was our guide, and she was amazing and so very knowledgeable! We hit all the high points with Anna and then had time to see much more on our own thanks to her guidance. I highly recommend this to her and especially Anna as your guide.

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and her passion for the Louvre and its history was evident! She did really well with the kids and was able to engage them in pieces they asked about as well as to point out other pieces of interest. 2 items to note about the tour: 1) 90 min flies by and we were rushed the entire time, 2) there is no such thing as “skip the line”. Unless we are the only ones, the Louvre did away with it and so you might find yourself in the very long line. The entry time cuts into the tour. Try to arrange a specific time I well in advance of your entry time to meet - a few minutes is not enough.

The most memorable moment was when our guide didn’t show up. We bought the tickets and called the telephone number which was only in French so I didn’t understand what to do. I’m still waiting to hear from Viator to get my refund….

Excellent guide. We got to see all the things we wanted to without wasting time getting lost or turned around. My only recommendation would be a confirmation of the guide before we got there. We were not sure where to meet them but he found us.

Let's be honest - seeing the Louvre is an ordeal unless you're a serious art person. The crowds are horrendous. It's noisy and confusing. That said, since everybody must do the Louvre, this is the way to do it. Skip the line (which started queueing up three hours before opening). Have somebody knowledgeable and experienced guide you to the highlights and explain them. We stayed in after our tour ended and headed over to the "classical" side of the museum. Much less crowded, lots of interesting stuff that you can review at your leisure.
Guide Was a No Show

We showed up 5 minutes early but the guide was a no show and the company has been completely unresponsive to our communication. The number they listed was for someone in Miami Florida, and the phone was turned off. We’ve reached out Viator for a refund. Definitely beware!
Warning for viator- disastrous company

WARNING!!!The guide never showed up! We called both him and visitor several times, but no answer. After 24 h also with mails no answer and no refunding. Keep away from viator- unserious company. Result me and my family was standing in the rain in the queue, but got into the museum on our own.

Given that viator booked two tours with the same guide, the group was over the allotted amount and we were not allowed to enter. Tours over six are not permitted. Our family was six and the other was four. It was a horrible experience .
