What To Expect

Meet your expert guide, a local baker, and venture into the kitchens and production areas of a famous French bakery to find out how proper French bread (pain), cakes (gateaux) and pastries (patisseries) are made.

This is no bread factory, this is an independent Parisian bakery where the work is still done by knowledgeable bakers on a daily basis. Watch as your guide demonstrates how the machinery works and how famous French baguettes are made. Learn the impressive history of French baking as well as some time-honored baking tips. Your baker and guide's passion for French baking comes through.

Along with all of the newfound knowledge you'll gain during this boulangerie tour, you'll also leave with a freshly-baked baguette and croissant to enjoy later.

Montmartre

On this intimate small-group tour of a Paris bakery located in the picturesque Montmartre neighborhood, you'll go behind the scenes and explore the production rooms where French bread and pastries are made. Your knowledgeable bakery guide will explain how to make the famous French baguette and will demonstrate how the machines work. In a warm and relaxed atmosphere, your guide will give you plenty of bread-making tips and will tell you about the bread history. Far from a factory with industrial methods, the French bakery you’ll visit is a typical small and independent Parisian production unit.  The bakers are skilled artisan craftsmen who have real passion for every aspect of French baking. In addition to your newly acquired baking knowledge, you'll also take home a freshly baked French baguette and a croissant! The exact address of your bakery will be sent to you after your reservation is made.

Interesting

Informative. The guide was friendly and showed us many aspects of the bakery but it is not an interactive tour
Informative and different.
Jody_P, Apr 2022
We enjoyed learning about the bakeries and especially the rules regarding baguettes. Wish we could have worked with some dough and produced our own baguettes but our guide was informative and interesting and we did get bread and croissants. Just a nice alternative to a museums tour.

Eating hot bread out of the oven was amazing. We loved learning how to shape the dough and the ingredients we would need to try to make our own. Great experience!

A Very Fun Experience

We do bake bread in our home and aspire to bake croissants. This tour was very informative. We saw the bakers applying various techniques. We learned a lot about the life of a baker. The tour was at a highly rated bakery and the tour guide also was a trained baker. What we saw was artisans doing what they love to do. We also were given baguettes and croissants to enjoy in our apartment.
Great concept but not much in reality.

Do not take this tour expecting you be able to make bakery items. This is more of how the store makes things from scratch. The kitchen was very compact and there were only four people in our group; us, the tour guides and the staff had to figure out how to maneuver around each other. Learned a few things about how bread is cooked but would have loved a more in-depth, hands on experience. The gratis bread and croissant gift we good. Our guides were nice. We left a bit disappointed. Make sure to wear clothes you can get flour on and non-skid shoes: floor was VERY slippery!

Our tour guide was prompt and very friendly. He answered lots of our questions and interpreted any answers from the bakers for us. The boulangerie staff was very friendly too and tried to explain their processes and answer our questions with the help of the tour guide. The bread baker let us make the release cuts in our own baguettes that we were given to take home. We were also given a croissant and a pastry sample.

What a delightful experience! We learned a lot and it was a unique opportunity to be so close to so many baguettes in the bread kitchen and to so many pastries in the patisserie kitchen. Highly recommend this 1 hour snapshot of real Paris.

Everyone was very friendly but there just wasn't enough going on to make this tour interesting. We watched them roll dough for baguettes and then we watched them put pastries together..and that was it.

Tour was in a small bakery that produces a high volume of baked goods each day. Tour guide knew English but the bakerys manager and a few of the French-speaking tour participants did most of the talking, in French. Info shared by tour guide was very basic. If you know anything about baking bread, find a different way to enjoy Pariss wonderful baking tradition.

Wonderful. Loved this. Making croissants to take away in a traditional Paris bakery was terrific. Loads of interesting facts about the artisan industry and the skills of the bakers. What a shame England doesn't have an artisan baking tradition like this!!

Perfect, small tour, just three of us. Lots of information packed into an hour, but not rushed. The baguette and croissant at the end were super tasty! Would recommend if looking for a simple tour.

This was a really great tour choice for us and we highly recommend it to anyone that is interested in gaining a hands-on experience into a typical Parisan Boulangerie ! Always wondered how they make those delicious baguettes, croissants and other yummy bake goods. I was able to take a picture of the actual recipe for the baguettes they bake at this bakery. Book this tour you will not be disappointed.

Lots of fun and very informative. The local baker was great in teaching us the various steps in making the perfect baguette. The main problem is the work area of a bakery is not really set up for tour groups even small ones like ours so you always feel in the way. We did get to sample some of the various products but it would have been nice if we each concluded the tour with a warm, freshly baked baguette.

We spent an interesting hour watching how baguettes are prepared and baked in a fairly modern boulangerie. Our guide, Mariette, was delightful and the baker was keen to show us what he does. However, we didn't get to try a baguette afterward, only some small pieces of sweet pastries. I see on my confirmation that a baguette and a croissant were included in the price but that seems to have been overlooked.

Very nicely done tour of the bakery. Very informative and friendly. We even got to taste the various breads and were able to take a freshly baked baguette and croissant home with us. Really glad I took this one hour tour. I definitely recommend it.
