What To Expect

In 19th-century Paris, curious residents wanted to keep up with the latest news in an era before television. Journalist Arthur Meyer came up with the idea of making 3D life-sized renderings of current events and personalities making the headlines in the popular daily newspaper of the day, 'Le Gaulois.' Parisians took to the idea instantly, flocking in droves to walk through the life-like scenes Meyer had created with wax figures.

Today, the newly-renovated Grevin Wax Museum honors its origins and also includes wax figures from modern decades, too. You, like 19th-century Parisians, can explore historic scenes rendered in wax figures. See settings from 19th and 20th century France – the theatre, artist studios, the brasserie – as well as major events depicted with more than 200 wax figures. Many are positioned so you can pose for photographs with them. See the likes of Louis XIV, Mozart, and Marilyn Monroe, as well as modern celebrities.

After a tour of this famous Paris wax museum, don't miss a chance to learn how all the wax figures are made. Café Grévin serves lunch and gourmet snacks for you either before or after your tour of the museum (own expense).

See the Itinerary section for more details about the various halls of the Grevin Wax Museum.

Grevin Museum

Paris was a busy place in the 19th century, and the public wanted to know everything that was going on. Journalist Arthur Meyer (1844-1917) came up with the idea of creating life-size, three-dimensional models of the people who made the headlines in the famous daily paper "Le Gaulois". Meyer's idea was simple: to create a place where the public could walk through a setting peopled with wax figures. It was an instant success! Discover a completely renovated Grevin Wax Museum. Experience the spirit of Paris of yesterday and today with scenes from the major events of the 20th century, French history and the latest news. See the brasserie, the theatre, artists' studios - all the legendary Parisian haunts where you will rub shoulders with the "Tout Paris" celebrities. Three hundred wax figures are waiting to meet you, to be photographed with you and be remembered forever. The Grevin's free discovery tour reveals the well-kept secrets of making wax celebrities! After meeting Louis XIV, Mozart, Jean Reno, Leonardo DiCaprio, and more, children can have fun finding out how all those wax figures are made.

The wax museums was amazing they are so life like and really look like the celebrities. We was able to try on some of the costumes etc and it was fun and we totally enjoyed the day. We only wish that they had a few more memorable wax museums like Whitney Houston, Aaliyah, Lisa left eye lopes

We had a great outing on this Wax Museum, worldwide artists and figures, it does have nice sections that actually you can "interact" with your favorites stars. Money well spend and lots of fun for the whole family.

Takes about an hour. It’s fun and a good filler. If you’ve read anything about French history it will make more sense

The line for w tickets or voucher was just as long as the line wo them. I liked having mmt tickets/ voucher in hand early bc things sell out. We did a day trip and the museum is a hot tourist spot. Very crowded but we enjoyed it.

For those who like to learn everything aut of just a couple of words, the Direct Access Ticket to Grevin Wax Museum worked as expected. For those who are interested in some details, here they are. First of all, there was no waiting line at Grevin's highly unusual for a Paris attraction!: we went staight ahead to the entrance. The explanation of the lack of interest in this museum became obvious very soon after entering it. After a short, uncomfortable and uninteresting light and sound: show in a cicular hall of mirrors that has nothing in common with the object of the museum! we had to walk through a series of rooms more or less populated with wax statues. Unfortunately, almost all of these statues were placed in such positions so that it was impossible to take photos of a real human as if he/she would be interacting in any manner with the characters depicted by the statues -- a huge minus compared to any of the Madame Tussaud's similar museums around the world! The number of international personalities represented by the statues doesn't compare itself with the one in Madame Tussaud's facilities. To make a long story short, visiting Grevin's Museum was an interesting but rather poor experience. It's worth having it once once being the keyword!.

What a fab thing to do on a rainy day. There were a few celebrities that we didn't know or recognise as of course they were from French film and TV but it was still a good few hours fun. The mirrored room and light show as you enter was quite stunning. Pop into the cafe next door, the menus are on masks and the food is really good!

Was really excited about seeing this wax Museum. Oh my goodness, so life like. Did not know many of the French stars but there was Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Lady Gaga etc etc. Thought there would be more Kings of Queens of the past, but definitely great to go and see, I think the wax's here are better than Madame Trussards. Must do.

The museum is not bad. There are no lines there, so we do not recommend buying tickets online because they are much cheaper at the museum.
