What To Expect

During the late 19th century, Paris’ Montmartre district was the heart of a vibrant arts scene and a popular gathering spot for many of the Belle Époque’s most brilliant artists and writers. Choose from a midmorning or early afternoon departure, and meet your knowledgeable guide near this legendary district.

Set off through Montmartre’s charming historic streets while your guide shares anecdotes and facts about the area’s famous former residents. Stroll through the picturesque Place du Tertre and wind up the cobblestone lanes of Montmartre’s North Slope to see the house where Vincent van Gogh once lived and worked.

Pass by the Montmartre Vineyards, one of the last remaining vineyards within Paris, and see favorite bohemian haunts like the Moulin Rouge and Lapin Agile nightclubs, immortalized in paintings by Picasso and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec.

Your walking tour concludes at the steps of the hilltop Sacré Coeur Basilica, where you can take in spectacular city views before bidding farewell to your guide.

Lovely food tour!

Wonderful! Food was delicious as was the guide! Kids loved all of it as well. Would recommend to families!
So so

Nice guide. Too much standing and a little too much info about nothing important I was eager to take trolley back down the mountain
Good tour and good company but could be better

Tour guide seem unsure of her information. The location was extremely busy. It would have been nice to have free time to shop the local artists. Our tour ended 20 minutes early and that time time could have been used for shopping.
When in Paris…

It would be helpful for the tour to explain the rigor associated with the tour. There were folks on the tour who were unable to handle the steep hills and walks. Otherwise, tour guide was fantastic, knowledgeable, and great all around.

I showed up at the meeting location and there was no one there. I asked and asked others in the area if they could help me locate the tour. Nobody else could see a tour. I showed them the email with the meeting location and everyone said I was in the right place. I want my money back!!! There was no tour! I am furious.
Wandering around the haunts of past artists & authors...

We've visited Montmarte on our own in previous years but joining the walking tour under "Kit" was an eye opener! Kit is very knowledgeable regarding all the famous artists and writers that lived in Montmarte. He will will walk you past the previous haunts of Picasso, Van Gough, Renoir, J.D. Salinger, Gertrude Stein and others. His stories bring the past to life. Kit is also an artist so his perspective is one of appreciation of this historic neighborhood and its living past! Thanks, Kit!
Great Experience

Our guide was very knowledgeable and gave great history and information about Montmartre. Be prepared to walk a lot and up steep hills.
Knowledge

It was a wonderful tour. A little too much walking for me, I’m 72. The tour guide did a great job. Learned slot of history.
Climbing the hill on Montmartre was great.

Our guide was knowledgeable and the history of the area was fascinating. And so much to learn about the popular personalities of Montmartre. A must do tour in Paris.
Secret places in the artistic Montmartre

Sean was our tour guide, he was not only fun, he was extremely knowledgeable about Montmartre and all of Paris. I highly recommend this tour!
Excellent tour
Ellen_K, Sept 2019
We thoroughly enjoyed the walking tour of Montmartre and Sacre Coeur led by Johnny. I’ve been on some other walking tours where the leaders focused mostly on pop culture and humorous snippets of history. Johnny did some of that but was also very well-versed in the history of Paris, which helped give a better understanding of how the neighborhood developed. I definitely recommend this tour!
Good overview of Paris district

Our guide was great; personable and knowledgeable. The tour was fun but we also learned a lot. The only negative was the tour company had a mix up and the tour didn't start until an hour late. They did make it right though and gave us a discount on the tour.
Montemarte a wonderful surprise

We really enjoyed our tour. Our guide was very friendly and helpful. Just the right amount of pertinent information for our teenager.
Interesting
judith_w, July 2019
Very though history explained by the guide. Church was beautiful and Montmarte cafes and artists very good. BUT, this tour is about 5 miles of walking, mostly uphill done by weaving through the streets. But was good exercise.
Mother / daughter trip

Our guide was excellent, knowledgeable and very accommodating. I highly recommend this tour. This was my second time on this tour over a 4 year period. Each guide covered a different route up the hill to Sacre Couer. Our first went through the Amelie movie streets with wine, cheese and bread shops. This guide took us through the Montmartre cemetery which was amazing. Loved both styles and experiences
This Area Definitely Needed a Guide
Albert_R, May 2019
Most excellent tour of various sites in Montmartre. Wish it were 3 hours instead of 2. Does involve a lot of hill climbing. Suggest reversing the tour direction to start at the top (Sacre Coeur) and walk downhill. T.here were 2 assistant staff whose chatter was disruptive to listening to the guide
Great way to see Montmarte
Gail_W, Apr 2019
Been to Paris and Montmarte a few times but decided to take a tour as we had brought our, not easy to entertain, teen twins. It was a small group, which was great because we could ask questions. If you're visiting this area then you need to be able to manage hills. Visiting the haunts of famous painters, writers and celebrities gave it an interesting twist of history and local knowledge. The kids enjoyed the cemetery walk. The tour guide, Kit, made a real effort to connect with everyone and, despite not being French, has an incredible knowledge of Paris.
Sonja was great
Ellen P, Sept 2018
Enjoyed the walking tour with Sonja. She is very knowledgeable about the area and was enjoyable to listen to. Wish we could have gone closer to a few of the highlights. We stopped short of them by a block and they were discussed from a corner. Not sure why we didn't go closer.

Excellent tour - will definitely recommend - loved seeing places we wouldn't normally see. Our guide, Olivia (?) was perfect - very knowledgeable, kind and communicative. Loved everything!
Great tour guide
Lindsley_C, July 2018
I was very impressed with the tour guide. Great background and knowledge of the area. Needed a mike, hard to hear sometimes with the traffic noise.
