What To Expect

With this skip-the-line ticket to the Sainte Chapelle in Paris, the way you spend your time is up to you. Because you get to bypass waiting in huge lines packed with people, there’s more time to enjoy the site and all it has to offer.

The chapel is usually open to the public from morning to evening, but please double check dates to make sure it’s open the day you want to go. Also, on some dates, the building opens at 9am and closes at 5pm and other dates it opens at 9:30am and closes at 6pm.

Head into the Gothic-style chapel to see what all the fuss is about. Your greeted by more than 1,000 stained-glass windows, and each window depicts a story from the Old or New Testament. Marvel at the elegance of the work put into each design as light shines in from outside and illuminates the image. This chapel was built because it was intended to house precious Christian relics, including Christ's crown of thorns, acquired by King Louis IX.

When you're done exploring the inside, don't forget to pop across the street to snap a few pictures of the outside, too — it's really just as beautiful.

Sainte-Chapelle

Get to see this newly restored, beautiful and quite intimate chapel from the 13th century, admire its mesmerizing stained glass windows. Built in seven years, an impressive feat, the Sainte Chapelle was intended to house precious Christian relics, including Christ's crown of thorns, acquired by Saint Louis. Having these sacred relics in his possession made the already powerful monarch head of western Christianity.  Adorned with a unique collection of fifteen glass panels and a large rose window forming a veritable wall of light, the Sainte-Chapelle is a gem of French Gothic architecture. Arranged across 15 windows, each 15 metres high, the stained glass panes depict 1,113 scenes from the Old and New Testaments recounting the history of the world until the arrival of the relics in Paris. Please note: • Free admission: 18-25 years old (EU nationals and regularised EU residents) • Unaccompanied tour with guide booklet available in: French, English, German, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Portuguese, Japanese, Chinese, Russian, Polish • Due to the "Vigipirate Plan", luggage larger than 55x35x20 will not be accepted inside the monuments. • Security checks are taking place: Sharp, dangerous items or motorcycle helmet are not permitted inside the monument.

Skip the line was a good idea as the line was fairly long and moved slowly.
This is a must see, the stained glass alone is worth the visit.

Don’t pay for “skip the line” tickets.
      Patricia_D, Mar 2023
Sainte-Chapelle is spectacular. However I paid give”skip the line” tickets, and we were told there is no such thing as skip the line tickets. After showing my tickets to the gatekeeper we were told to stand in line with everyone else for 1/2 hour. That was the already ticketed line. This is bordering on a scam, telling people you can skip a line when it clearly says on a sign, in French and in English, there is no priority or skip the line access.
      Horrible
      Lisa_Y, Feb 2023
Even with the skip the line pass the wait was over an hour so we left very disappointing and a waste of money.
      The stain glass windows...
      Mary_M, Jan 2023
The stain glass windows are incredible. The Rose Window was a favorite. So glad to have Skip the Line Tickets as the ticket line was incredibly long.
Do not recommend using Viator for this venue
      Sarah_B, Jan 2023
Sadly there was no tour guide to meet us at the church as I was told there would be after speaking with customer service on the phone. Had to wait in line all over again to get tickets from the church. Currently waiting for a refund after speaking with customer service again to help me troubleshoot. Customer service agents were friendly and helpful but unfortunately things did not go as I was told. I would not recommend using Viator for this attraction and would recommend buying tickets directly from the source. I have used Viator in the past and have had a better experience.
You still need to get a ticket even with your Viator ticket.

Great time, got in pretty easily. There was a note about having to get a ticket at the ticket office with your Viator pass so be careful. They didn't make us do it.
      Don’t book
      Erin_K, Jan 2023
Don’t book! Paid for tickets then unable to get a time slot. Getting ready to dispute with my credit card company.
      Bought the non-refundable...
      Grace_H, Jan 2023
Bought the non-refundable tickets but it turned out ticket slots were sold out and so I wasn’t able to use the tickets I paid for
      Gorgeous church
      McKenzie_F, Jan 2023
The most beautiful church I’ve ever seen! We were able to enter without a selected time slot, just by showing our ticket with the date. Highly recommend! Not a guided tour
you have to book a time...
      Ellen_P, Jan 2023
you have to book a time slot. Booked for a specific day but there were no slots! Beware! Better to just book directly
      Sainte-Chapelle: The Glory of Paris
      Robin_R, Mar 2020
A glorious religious masterpiece of Gothic architecture. The staff are friendly and helpful. The visitor is enlightened with bilingual (English and French) information boards. The guide recommends spending an hour but you could stay all day.
      Crowded
      Helen_O, Mar 2020
It was very wet so it spoiled things a little ... very crowded so difficult to appreciate this place
Not Essential but Nice Thing to Have
      Victoria_B, Feb 2020
Although I think that Sainte Chapelle is very beautiful and worth looking into I do not think that you need the Skip the line ticket. Sainte Chapelle is very small and so people don't stay long (there are only about two rooms to look at) therefore the line moves quickly, even though it can appear long. If you are in a rush to see a ton of stuff in the same day then sure, the skip the line ticket might be worth it.
      Saint Chappelle upstairs
      glennperkal, Feb 2020
The experience was good, although since it is winter, no big crowds and no need for skip the line here. One thing, when you go in, make sure you go upstairs where the really nice stained glass is. No one to tell you that, had to ask, and stairs are tough, but it was worth the climb.
      Worth the premium
      Julie_C, Dec 2019
The line was around the corner to visit the church. With our printed vouchers, we walked right to the front and saved ourselves hours of wait time. Totally worth it!
      No waiting

Skip the line tickets were great. Went straight in. Beautiful stained glass. Lots of photo opportunities. Reccomend

At first I was very disappointed as I didn't realize there was a 2nd floor. I thought the gift shops were a bit tacky in a church. However w,hen I realized the main attraction was upstairs, I revised my option. The stained glass is amazing, but still does not compare to Notre Dame which unfortunately is not viewable at present. Amazing to think pe.ople learned their Bible stories from the glass pictures.
      Beautiful windows
      Janet_K, Nov 2019
Well worth the walk up the winding staircase to view this lovely church with the stained glass windows.
      Underrated
      amkelly802, Oct 2019
One of the most underrated visits in Paris. This is a must see, the stained glass alone is worth the visit. Hope for a sunny day so you can really see the glass in all of its glory. We got there early in the morning (9AM) and didn't have a line to deal with, even with Notre Dame closed.
      Great value!
      Gisella_G, Oct 2019
This was the best way to see this magnificent church, firstly it was cheaper than buying tickets at the door and secondly we skipped the huge line to get in. Highly recommend!

This is a must see when in Paris. It was lovely to "skip the line" and the place itself is magnificent. I highly recommend it.
