Traveller Tips

This tour definitely went longer than expected so be prepare to have a great time and don't make early dinner plans as you will probably need some extra time to digest all the food from this tour first.
Just a note, the tour director was not in a hurry which was lovely - plan on some extra time and don’t schedule anything right behind this tour!
Give it a go as you will not regret it.

Our guide was great and we got to taste and learn about French food while hitting some hidden spots.
Secret Foodie is the way to go in a foreign city.

Our guide, Yaan, was incredible! He handled the group very well. The places he took us to were the best. He gave us a great deal of time at all the places we stopped. They were great finds, and something we would not have been able to do on our own without his local knowledge. I highly recommend this tour.
Great tour

Great tour with amazing food. We didn't need to war a full meal for the rest of the night! All the food and drinks were great and hearing the history was fun!
Tons of food and laughs
Sue_D, Mar 2023
Teen daughter is a foodie so we booked this. Great time! Walked to several spots and then to a private apartment with huge long table to eat fresh meat, cheese, water, bread, wine and dessert. Left stuffed and happy.

Really enjoyed tour guide “Line”(Lynn in English). She made us laugh and taught us so much about cheese and meat. Very special
Not the tour for vegetarians or nonalcoholics!
Kelly_G, Mar 2023
We didn’t enjoy this food tour. We were a family with many dislikes and vegetarians so this probably didn’t help the situation. The start of the tour was eating sweets. We made 3 stops all were for sweet treats. Then we and the group proceeded to a place for the dining. The guide knew there was two vegetarians and two others who didn’t eat pork. So only one family member could eat everything. So four of us basically received about 4 samples of cheeses. The rest of the group ate the cheese and about 5 different pork meats. We also were not drinkers, so we received water as the rest of the group drank about 4-5 bottles of wine. Then the bread. The guide bought about 8 baguettes. There were 4 separate families. Instead of just handing 2 baguette loaves to each family to share. He insisted on handing the baguettes out and each person handle the bread and ripping off pieces. It would’ve been better if he only did it, not letting basically strangers ripping apart the bread. Who knows where their hands were! Also one of the families had a teenage boy with a stomach virus. So all of this was awful to our family as we were at the end of the table and the bread was handled by 8 people by the time we got it! So I don’t recommend this tour if your a vegetarian, don’t drink wine, like your food handled by strangers! Almost forgot the cheese was also handled by everyone in the group before we received our bite size! So we paid $500 for a handful of cheese, bread handled by everyone and water!

Hello Kelly, thank you for your review. We appreciate and value all our guest's feedback. We are sorry that you didn't enjoy this experience. As much as we do our best to accommodate all our guest's restrictions, in your opinion, we were unsuccessful this time. Allow me to remind you that you didn't receive only four samples of cheese; our guide ran out of his way to buy you a vegetarian quiche as a substitute for the meat, as we always do for all our guests. This was confirmed with the guide and his expenses on this day. The baguette has a story behind it to explain to our guests that it's a shareable bread, very unique in french culture. I understand that in current times, it's weird to be sharing this kind of item with strangers, that's why we explain the story and ask the guests to wash their hands, and that's what happened. We have everything prepared for everyone to wash their hands. You were offered soft drinks to compensate for not drinking alcohol, as we do often when we have guests that don't drink alcohol. We also know that you were late, which disrupted the flow of the tour, and we are sorry for that. We try everything possible to keep the spirits during the tour, and we are sorry that you didn't find the experience unique. We want to offer a service of excellence with great food items, and a great guide with a unique and engaging personality that tells our guests stories about the neighbourhood and the fascinating history of the Montmartre area. When you pay for a food tour, you pay for the experience, not just for the food items, it's the whole experience. If you want to discuss this further, please email us at info@secrettours.com. We would love to have you back on one of our tours in more than 60 locations worldwide. Thank you

Agatha was our local guide, and provided a perfect experience for us. She's exceptionally knowledgeable about the neighborhood, the food selection, and the wines. She has a true passion for this work, which shines through the entire experience. Her English is perfect, she is totally accessible, friendly, and has a natural and easy personality. She made our culinary and neighborhood experience perfect in every way.

Paris walking and eating tour
Christopher_R, Mar 2023
April was a wonderful guide, very knowledgeable and a lot of fun. Food was great and whilst everything wasn't to my taste it's good to try new things. The cheeses and meats that I did enjoy, 90% were superb. A very enjoyable tour.
Fun in Paris
Daria_B, Mar 2023
We enjoyed stopping a such a variety of food places in Montmartre. It gave us a better appreciation of Montmartre & foods we had not previously experienced . We especially enjoyed gathering the foods & returning to the office to sit & enjoy with wine. Loved it & our guide.
Tasty and Informative

Fun afternoon in Montmarte tasting delicious foods along the way. Agatha showed us the best places and taught us the nuances of cheese.
Excellent experience

Our guide made the experience very enjoyable. I can't remember her name it was Lara or something similar, she was excellent.
Don’t waste your money
Krista_M, Feb 2023
Less than impressed. Not really a walking tour. Made a couple stops on our way to a room where we sat and tasted bread, cheese, meats and a dessert. No talking on the way from the guide about the history of the neighborhood or anything really. We just followed her. There were a couple very quick stops on the way but they felt like they were ‘taste and hurry up.’ While sitting in the room we were insulted numerous times (usually for being Americans). I don’t need to pay for that. I can get that elsewhere for free (not completely unjustified mind you). She made fun of people when they gave the wrong answer to a question she asked to the point people were afraid to answer her questions. I’ve had amazing food tours in other countries but this was a bust. Super disappointing.
Response from Host, Mar 2023
Hi! Thank you for leaving your feedback about our tour in Montmartre. I'm sorry you had such a disappointing experience. When we thought of this tour we wanted to reflect the incredible atmosphere of the Montmartre neighbourhood, where the locals visit local shops and buy the best local items to take home and eat around a table with a good conversation, good wine and the best cheeses and dried meats. Before you go to our cellar, you have a macaron, chocolate and a crêpe. I know for a fact that the guides enhance the quality of the tour, being engaging, fun and entertaining, and reading your description this was not what you had and we sincerely apologise. We will make everything within our reach to avoid this kind of situation in the future. Please do contact us through info@secrettours.com and we can discuss this matter privately. We hope you can give us a second chance and come back to us in the future in one of our 60+ Secret Food Tours worldwide. Thank you
