What To Expect

Make your way to the Île de la Cité, where this tour begins, then cross the Seine River towards the Latin Quarter—this intellectual neighborhood is the home of the Sorbonne University, and it's the historic core of the Parisian Left Bank. Hear stories about the famous thinkers and writers who made their homes here, including F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway, and discover some of the landmarks that recall Paris’ ancient history. You’ll stop by the Panthéon, Roman ruins, charming shops, and the Luxembourg Gardens, with a pause to browse stacks of books at the famous Shakespeare and Company bookstore.

Throughout the tour, the guide will share tales of the Latin Quarter’s colorful residents and vibrant history, and offer tips on the best places to check out after the tour concludes. This tour is limited to a small group of 10 people to ensure personal attention from the guide.

While the guide was a lovely person, genuine and caring, the content of the tour was poor. Very little on offer. More on architecture than on history and a tad repetitive. For the price of the tour (which is expensive) unfortunately lacked depth on content and lacked historical content.

Really, the most memorable experience was the one provided by Alex, our guide. His knowledge was impressive, but above all, he spoke to us as an experienced tour guide without ego or arrogance. He was super friendly and made it easy on us to ask lots of questions, even if we thought "this might be a stupid question"... He took us to all the sights promised on the itinerary and provided thoughtful and interesting information on the history, architecture and context behind what we were seeing.
