Chateau de Chambord

From Paris, you’ll head first to Château de Chambord. Disney fans will find this castle’s turrets familiar; it was the inspiration for the castle in ‘Beauty and the Beast’. Though originally conceived as a royal hunting lodge, it was built to a scale that must be seen to be believed. You’ll learn all about the castle’s captivating history from your guide, before getting your own chance to explore. Climb a staircase supposedly designed by Da Vinci; enjoy spectacular turret-framed rooftop views; glimpse wild deer around the grounds; and work up an appetite for the next stop.

Traveller Tips

This was a full-day experience, and was definitely worth the price.
While the drive was long, it was well worth it.
There is a lot of driving to get there and back, about a 3 hour ride, and there is a stop for lunch at a mini-castle with excellent sparkling wines.

Nice Tour to the Loire Valley
Gena_M, Mar 2023
My daughters and I enjoyed this tour. The bus was comfortable. Our 2 tour guides gave us some background on the Chateaus on the way. The Chateaus were lovely. Unfortunately, by the time we got to Blois, we were able to get lunch but then the stores started to close for the afternoon. We enjoyed the wine tasting at Chenonceau. Overall, we were happy we took this tour.
Fantastic
keri_r, Mar 2023
fabulous tour guide (can’t remember her name) so much history and so worth the time and money. Thank you
Fantastic experience, just not enough time.
Kathrine_B, Mar 2023
The chateaus were amazing. Lunch in Bloise was fabulous (go to the crepe place). The tour guide was very knowledgeable and the driver did a splendid job. The only complaint is that there was not enough time at each location roughly 1 hour 15 min. For the money and amount of time we spent, I’m not sure I’d do it again.
Get to see and experience...

Get to see and experience a lot on in one day. The tour guides knew a lot and it was very organized.
What a place to be
Tammy_D, Mar 2023
Omg they are beautiful 😍 recommend this for anyone that don't want to drive in France . Even tho it rained . We loved ever minutes of it . It was a long day
Great day!
Teresa_K, Mar 2023
It was organized well. Ami was very well informed and shared a lot of stories and information to make the experience a little richer.
Great excursion out of Paris
Mark_D, Mar 2023
I loved the history the guides gave us on the drive when we were getting close to the castles. It was a long day but honestly did not feel long. Everything we got to do was great and nothing wrong with getting a little shut eye on the longer legs of the drive for a bunch of jet lagged tourists!! I didn’t particularly need the wine tasting part of it. But my family wanted to do it so we did. But I would have preferred more time on the grounds!
Fun day exploring the Loire Valley castles
Tracy_C, Mar 2023
Very enjoyable day. Met the bus at 7:30 am. Be on time as they leave promptly. Traveled a couple hours to Chateau Chambord with a brief rest stop of the way. Bus was very comfortable and many people napped on the way. Chateau Chambord was beautiful but under renovation and quite empty so not too much to see but interesting nonetheless. Then traveled to Blois for lunch. Choice of restaurants was good but being lunch time everything else in town was pretty much closed. Back on the bus for about an hour to Chateau Chenonceau for a wine tasting and tour. This was the highlight of the trip. The Chateau was amazing. Beautiful castle and grounds. Loved seeing all the artwork and flowers throughout. Three hour bus ride back arriving just past 7:30 pm. The tour guides on the bus were very informative and helpful over the course of the day. We had a good time and would recommend this tour.

Great Day Trip Tour
Elizabeth_T, Feb 2023
Great tour! Left at 7:30am, arrived at the first castle at 10:30, arrived at the town for lunch at 1pm, arrived at the second castle at 2:30pm, left for the return to Paris at 4:30pm
Must-see
Giovanna_D, Feb 2023
John was great and very knowledgable. The castles were beautiful! It was well worth the trip, I highly reccomend.
Great but late people suck!
Travel, Feb 2023
Great tour! Long day but you get to see a lot! The only bad part is if you have people on the tour that don’t respect the timetables and stroll back 15+ minutes late.
Never Again
Naira_D, Feb 2023
The places that we went to were beautiful but the tour was anything but. The tour guide was rude and patronizing, and filled with idiotic facts. The tour itself was very poorly planned. We were literally running around, missing a lot of what we were supposed to be enjoying, just to get back in time. It was very stressful and honestly a waste of our money.

Sensit was an amazing tour guide! Very kind and engaging, knew everything about the history of the valley and chateaus. The winery was charming as well. Overall an amazing experience!
Beautiful castles.
chanmeeing, Jan 2023
The castles were remarkable. Like the wine! However dampen by the rain! The guide was knowledgeable and the driver was fantastic.
Loire Valley not to be missed day trip from Paris
elisecarolforsyth, Jan 2023
This is a must do day trip out of Paris. You see such a beautiful display of architecture and history. It’s a long day but you get time to rest or nap on the bus plus stops for snacks along the way. The Loire Valley is special and spectacular. Day trip of a lifetime. Do not miss.
Great tour. It is a long day, but worth it.
Daniel_B, Dec 2022
Great tour. It is a long day, but worth it. The only downside was the bus seats are a little tight on leg room. The guides were great and plenty of comfort breaks and the walking parts were at a very easy pace.
Didn’t like it
ARMINE_Y, Dec 2022
The Gide was rushing and I was with my teenager kids and old mom! She was not able to go as fast as 27 years old hide and I didn’t hear the information. I could go by myself and sure will have more fun! We are going with tour for having more information!
Response from Host, Jan 2023

Once in a lifetime experience
Maria_E, Dec 2022
We had an amazing trip thanks to the wonderful guide (Sensi), who took us on a tour through French history even before we saw the splendor of the castles with our own eyes. It’s been three days and we’re still reliving the experience. Chenonceau was the highlight of the trip but the sheer size of Chambord was impressive on its own. We loved having a nice lunch in a quaint town on Blois next to the locals. The royal palace in Blois where Catherine di Medici died will be on our list for the next visit since we didn’t get a chance to go during this short trip. Overall our family of 4 with two kids (9 and 14) had an awesome experience on this tour despite the rain and lengthy ride back. We can’t thank Sensi enough for making this trip so entertaining, educational and deliciously memorable to our whole family! Our 9 year old is so much into history now thanks to him!
