What To Expect

Begin your tour of the Palace of Versailles with pickup at a central Paris location (Métro Bir Hakeim). Board a comfortable tour vehicle to the French landmark, located about 13 miles (22 km) outside of Paris. 

During the relaxing ride, listen to recorded audio commentary that will introduce you to the history, art, and architecture of the palace. Commentary is available in 10 languages. Learn about the origin of the palace, built under orders of King Louis XIX in 1661. Famous architects and decorators, including Le Notre, Mansart, and Le Vau worked together to construct this opulent building. The palace became one of the most prestigious residences in Europe, and its splendor is still on display for visitors today. 

Once you arrive on the premises, you'll be equipped with the knowledge to spend a few hours on a self-guided tour. Explore the palace, the gardens, and the Grand Royal Apartments, which are all included in your entrance fees.

Afterward, relax on the return trip to central Paris, where you'll be dropped off at your original departure point.

Palace of versailles

Cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances due to a strike in paris. And the palace of versailles was closed. As were many oc the museums and sight seeing places due to the strike.my partner and I was very disappointed but they said they would refund our money back 3-5 working days. We plan to go at another time. We did make the best of our day and went sightseeing on foot around the city and took lots of photography instead in the end we still had a great time in paris. We have given five stars as we know the palace of versailles is a beautiful historic place and it's a definite must see at some point. Thank you to the tour guide for letting us know it could not be helped at this time.
Less than expected

Visit Time is short and not enough to enjoy all the interesting parts of the castle. We were there on a rainy day, we could barely see the portraits in the rooms and no lights were on until only half of the visit. Will need to visit again to meet my original ambition from this trip.

Pickup in Paris and the drive to Versailles was smooth. Finding the bus for return to Paris was slightly chaotic especially if you’re an inexperienced traveler. It needs a bit more organization. The palace and gardens were amazing.

If you’re looking for transportation to and from Versailles this might get you there and back if you’re able to find the right bus, however expect nothing else including the noted “audio tour” which you have to supply yourself on your phone. It would have been SUPER HELPFUL to let us know what we needed to download beforehand as getting the app once there was next to impossible for half our group. Expect NO information about Versailles on the way there and expect a pile of chaos from the operators who while present on the bus are not present in any other way.

I felt a bit mislead. We received no audio tour. What we were given was a QR code to scan which I couldn’t do without cell service and I’m from the US. So my kids had no clue what was going on. We also reached out 2 times two days before regarding my injury and the need for a wheelchair. We showed up and it was ok, but not receiving a response caused me unneeded stress in an already bad situation. I felt this tour was outrageously overpriced especially given that my kids were given 2 free tickets into Versailles. So well over $200 for transportation is ridiculous.

This was a great way to get a trip to Versailles in quickly. Be sure to download the app and bring headphones for your phone for the audio tour. The palace and gardens did not disappoint.

The guides where rude. Only gave us 3 hours because they were late. Want my money back!!! The bus was uncomfortable and the guides coming back were awfully rude to everyone.

Getting to Versailles was great. We have been here before and had a wonderful time. The downfall was the time of year. It was insanely crowded. We could not see anything. This is Nit Viator’s fault. I would never come back in the summer.

The audio guide in my opinion was a little weak, mainly because Versailles didn’t really have clear markers for the locations. Other than that, I wish we booked the full day there because 4 hours wasn’t enough time. This place screamed opulence throughout!

Versailles itself was great but the tour was awful! Viator said it was English only, it was in fact in Spanish. I would have booked a different tour. Like the tour operator that picked us up spoke in Spanish. They gave us no direction. Like “pick up the better maps after security”. “You’ll still have to go through a line for the audio guides”. “Keep your tickets for the garden”. We also ended up with only 2 hours at Versailles, so it’s hardly a half a day tour. I ended up taking a taxi back to enjoy it and make up for a crappy morning.
