Overview

Start your day off right with this morning small-group sailing and snorkeling tour. Cruise through the Gulf of Papagayo and jump off board into the warm Costa Rican waters on a guided snorkel before relaxing on a secluded beach. Keep your eyes peeled on the sail back to Playas del Coco as, depending on the time of year, there's a good chance of spotting sea turtles, dolphins, rays, and whales.

What's Included

  • You will board our dinghy at the beach and will be taken to Kuna, our 47' monohull sailboat.
  • Depending on the wind and sea conditions, we will sail or motor to a cove for snorkeling.
  • Ice Cold drinks are served: Costa Rican beers, rum punch, a variety of soft drinks, juice and teas.
  • Accompanied by our First Mate, you will snorkel and possibly be taken to the beach to explore/relax
  • Complimentary photos are taken aboard, both above and below the water & sent via email after tour
  • We serve a fresh fruit platter, tortilla chips guacamole & bean dip accompanied by finger sandwiches
  • Duration: approximately 4 hours

    Our meeting location is in front of Claudio and Gloria's Restaurant in Playas Del Coco. Look for a Kuna Vela team member wearing grey shirts with a Kuna Vela logo. We also meet at Playa Hermosa pending the days schedule. Please type your specific location upon booking a reservation to coordinate.

The crew was amazing from the moment we met at the beach, on our outbound trip we saw turtles, whale breach, dolphins and they made extra efforts to point things out. Having been snorkeling in this area before they set us on a amazing spot loaded with fish and allowed a lot of time in the water. It was fantastic

We had such a great time, watching dolphin pods swimming and jumping, along with other marine wildlife. They took us to a great little spot for snorkeling. The staff was great and the service was impeccable. On the way back, they provided an amazing spread of food, and served beverages throughout. I highly recommend Kuna Vela Sailing Tours. You won’t be disappointed!!

We had a great trip out sailing! The crew pointed out miscellaneous sea creatures (a turtle, came around to sail with a few dolphins, a manta ray jumping), and we stopped to snorkel in a little cove. The water was a bit rough on the way back, but not until after we'd had some tasty snacks! Highly recommended, couldn't have had a better time!

We had a wonderful time! The staff and crew were amazing and guided us to see many dolphins, turtles, and even whales!! The snorkeling was great too, and I love that they took pictures of us during the whole experience and underwater as well. We had an AMAZING time!

What a great morning for a cruise! Probably one of the highlights to end a fabulous week in Costa Rica:) No problem finding them, they found me! Got off, right on time! Headed to Playa Hermosa to pick up the rest of the travelers. The staff was very professional and made everything so easy. From the Rum punch, to the fresh fruit and yummy chips and guacamole and beans! I was traveling alone but had so many wonderful conversations with everyone onboard. There were several families with kids, an older couple and myself. Never seemed crowded and everyone talked and had an amazing outing! The communication before the trip was also very on point. I had a few questions since I’d never done an excursion like this by my self. The response was prompt and put any insecurities right at ease:) OH AND, we got to see what appeared to be a mama humpback whale with a couple of babies! I had not expected to experience this. But the captain obviously knows his stuff! KUDOS! One more thing, the sail back was even more peaceful with the motor off…ahhhh. Love the splashes off the side on my 👣💜 Great value for the money. Would do it again and recommend to anyone looking for getting offshore! Thank you again! Pura Vida!

AMAZING!!!! We had such a great time on this sailing and snorkel outing. The owner met us at the beach, we rafted to the boat (Kuna Vela) and once on board were treated with great snacks and drinks. We say rays and dolphins and several nice school of fish. One in our group was not an avid swimmer and the crew buoyed her up with multiple safety items and she was out in the water having a blast with the rest of us. It was fantastic - HIGHLY recommend!

We sailed with our two boys. We had a good experience. I highly recommend for good swimmers. If you are a beginner swimmer or with young children under 10 this is not for you. You are looking at 6-15 ft depth. The instructor will not take you and swim with you. They will help you providing all the equipment but will not go with you. The staffs were great and very friendly. We enjoyed the sailing part too with some light refreshment.

Yes we do provide brand new snorkeling equipment for all of our guests and our guide Andreas always accompanies our snorkeling guests pointing out different sea life along the way as well as taking underwater water pictures. For those guests who feel less comfortable with their swimming abilities in the open water we offer life jackets, noodles and even a ride to the beach where we will set up chairs, towels and refreshments for you to enjoy.
