After early morning hotel pickup in Puerto Escondido, travel with your guide south of the city and reach Santa Cruz, Huatulco’s main bay, a little less than two hours later. En route, hear about the rural communities in the Oaxacan coast, as well as about the traditions and customs in the local communities.

 

In Santa Cruz, step aboard a large catamaran and head to the Bay of La India. Stop here for about two hours to snorkel (remember to bring your own gear), or check out the beach. Then, the catamaran zips you to the Bay of Maguey, where you’ll enjoy a lunch of seafood delights (additional expense) — pineapple stuffed with seafood, shrimp 4x4 baked fish, and more — all prepared in a clay oven. While enticing food aromas waft your way as the meal is being cooked, take the time to discover the beach here.

 

After lunch, visit Crucecita, the center of Huatulco, and head to the Guadalupe church. Look up and see a 919-foot-tall (280 meters) painting of Virgin Mary, the world's largest painted on the dome of the church.

 

At a museum of crafts, watch how rugs and carpets are locally made out of sheep's wool and painted with dyes from cochineal, a desert insect. Peruse the selection of wooden handicrafts and handmade masks made of coconut at the local market.

 

Wrap up your town tour with a visit to a silver craft factory and a stroll through the Kisoko, Huatulco’s central park. Your 12-hour trip ends with drop-off back at your hotel.

Not a Socially-Distant Excursion - book a private instead!

The operator/tour guide was very good! We are from America, and he catered to us by speaking English. He was easy to communicate with prior to pick-up/departure. He was on-time and picked us up at the hotel. I'm giving this two stars because the "catamaran" was actually a really large boat. The advertisement said a maximum of 10 people, which is why we booked. When we arrived at the dock, the "catamaran" was a large boat. The operator said it was only at 50% capacity, but it probably had close to 100 people on board. And not everyone was masked. And there were a ton of kids not wearing masks. I felt the advertisement was a bit misleading. However, our tour guide was able to problem-solve and we booked a private boat tour instead. But we had to pay $2000/person on top of what we paid for the original booking. Which added up to be a lot higher than we hoped. But, our operator/tour guide gave a VERY good private tour. Overall, this excursion is not socially distant but you can book a private.

Hello to all dear friends who visit us in this Paradise of the Oaxacan Coast, for us it is a great honor and a great joy to receive you to make you live the best experience of your life with our 36 experiences between Tours and Excursions. On this occasion I want to answer to those people in the honest, sincere and professional way that characterizes us, those people really did not pay the necessary attention to the information that is on the TripAdvisor platform when they booked their Tour, how is it possible that they think that a catamaran is going to travel only with 10 people ??? come on!!!!! If a catamaran has a capacity for 250 or 300 people in any part of the world, it does not make sense in what they comment. The truth is a sadness for us as professionals in Tourism that they give us 2 stars and apart from all that their comment denigrates us, very, bad, very bad. We are professionals in Turism with an excellent reputation and this puts us very badly between the world, apart from that we as Tour Operators we put $ 2300 pesos from our bag so for that they can enjoy a private Tour that cost $ 4000 pesos plus their drinks, very clearly We reached tougheter an agreement that they would pay half and we half, apart from I am a very good people I put $ 300 pesos more for their beers, it not is fair, it is not fair that the day they lived what they want to spend for free, it is not possible, the truth is very sad to have people like this................... Now in times of a pandemic the catamaran only operates with 50% of passengers, and that day it only had about 80 people, the information on the TripAdvisor platform clearly says all the time, and it has said forever that 10 people will go in the vehicles, never, never, in a catamaran, for the Love of God be aware !!!!!! This is what I have to answer, and as always I am at your most distinguished orders your friends from your Travel Agency, Tour Operador and Touristic Transporter Excursiones Turisticas de Valfred S.A de C.V.
