What To Expect

This full-day excursion starts with morning pickup at your Puerto Escondido hotel. In a comfortable tour vehicle, head south via the coastal road, through a string of coastal communities. Make a stop in San Isidro del Palmar for breakfast or a traditional Oaxacan snack (own expense). As you travel, your guide will teach you about the way of life on this stretch of the Mexican coast.

Turn off at Santa Maria, then follow 8 miles (13km) of dirt roads to the bay of San Augustin. Get set up with your snorkel equipment and dive in to explore the underwater world, home to see urchins, starfish, tropical fish, and colorful coral. Your guide will be on hand to answer any questions and take some photos of your adventure.

Back on the beach, opt for a local meal of fresh seafood (own expense) before climbing back into the tour vehicle for the return to Puerto Escondido. End your tour with drop-off at your hotel.
